Remove emoticon from page name

Move to Java Edition Beta 1.8 Pre-release 2. It's difficult to link to this page as most things just ignore all irregular characters in URLs. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 22:51, 12 April 2019 (UTC)

 Strong support. -BDJP (t|c) 22:53, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
Strong oppose as we should be aiming to keep page titles as accurate as they can possibly be. The redirect exists for a reason - if it's easier to link to, then use that instead. - User-12316399 (talk) 12:43, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

Support We don't necessarily need to keep page titles as "accurate as they can possibly be" as long as we make it clear what the official title is, imo. No one calls this "Beta 1.8 Pre-release 2 ;)", it's just its technical name; Pre-release 2 is what it is most commonly called by far. While I'm not meaning to use a Wikipedia policy as an excuse for my views, WP:COMMONNAME does have some useful information that would be relevant here. As others have pointed out, it is difficult to link to the page with the wink. Overall, I think that moving this page would be more helpful than it would be counterproductive.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 17:52, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
What I'm not quite sure of is the best way to structure the lead section if this does end up being moved, i.e. what should be bolded and where.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 17:54, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
The bolding should not be changed. The official name of the version still has the emoticon. See stuff like the lead of PE-a0.5.0; the bold uses the ingame name not the page name. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 08:54, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
In my opinion WP:COMMONNAME should be (more) applicable on this wiki (rose redgrumbles) but in this case it's definitely true; PE titles have the alpha before the version even though in-game it doesn't because everyone calls it "alpha 0.6.0" and it makes more sense. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 08:54, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
Strong oppose That's what the version is called, and we're a wiki (meaning we want to be as accurate as possible), so we should keep the smiley. A redirect is enough, so people can still link to Java Edition Beta 1.8 Pre-release 2. ―HalfOfAKebab (talk, contribs) 09:17, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
Strong Oppose as the name of the version includes ;) so we must keep it cause we're a Wiki. -- TheAwesome98 85.255.234.77 16:12, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
