The old version of this image made sense for Java Edition: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/File:Mclogo.svg
However, the image has been updated to use the new look used on all modern promotional material, minecraft.net, Bedrock Codebase/Engine, and pretty much everything else EXCEPT Java Edition itself, which still uses the older logo in-game on the title screen. I suggest that the old version of the Mclogo.svg file be reuploaded as a dedicated file for the Java Edition logo. SuperGeniusZeb (talk) 04:36, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

What? Change the logo to what? Minecraft uses this logo Mclogo for all java comtent; why should we change it? You can't just change the official logo Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe Map (item) 20:16, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
The in-game one is a pixelated version of the original logo, not exactly the same. Oddly enough, the launcher uses another logo, which looks like a mix between the old one and the modern one. MajrTalk

The launcher logo is just a lighter version of the current logo. Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe Map (item) 04:50, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
I'm talking about how the Minecraft logo used in-game in Java Edition is still the same one used here: https://web.archive.org/web/20111124090023/http://www.minecraft.net:80/ Notice that the logo is a solid medium gray, unlike the lighter color used now that also has a gradient effect. Additionally, the old logo lacks the thicker black border used on the logo used for marketing and for the Bedrock & Console versions. SuperGeniusZeb (talk) 22:12, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

We're not going to use a low-quality, blurry, partially cut-off image, and we're certainly not going to use a fan suggestion that isn't in-game. Do not attempt to upload that image again. -- Orthotopetalk 23:26, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
Should also note this user was also “promoting” this fake logo through the official MC discord if that helps any. --Marioprotvi (talk) 00:23, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

#Table of features sucks for official release[]

The versions shown in the official release column seem rather arbitrary, and there's a lot of potentially major features missing. Maybe just show 1.0, and not bother with subsequent releases, or have a separate table for that with a more relevant set of features. MajrTalk

Do we even need the table? It looks like it lacks any meaningful organization and inclusion criteria. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 16:31, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
Hello? Anyone? Maybe I should just delete the entire table since no one seems to mind? --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 08:27, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
It used to be useful back when Minecraft was available in multiple editions (with that I mean Alpha vs Classic) simultaneously. It's not really useful now, nobody plays on versions that are that outdated anymore. It can be completely removed in my opinion. | violine1101(Talk) 19:28, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Also, the different versions shown in the table are determined by when the mentioned features were introduced, and these are the minimum versions required for the table to accurately show when all these features were introduced (disclaimer, I don't know if it is accurate). I can see a point to having them instead of just mentioning "1.0", because otherwise all other versions mentioned, like Classic Creative, Indef, Alpha etc are also potentially groupable under a "Before official release", seeing that's what 1.0 is called. But then the table has no use anymore other than showing which features are in the game before and after 1.0, so that's why I think Majr's suggestion of grouping under 1.0 wouldn't be a good idea. The table is wildly incomplete though, as what is described as a "feature" can be as detailed as any element of gameplay, such as Swimming#Sprint-swimming. The list could therefor be expanded upon indefinitely, and the set of actually listed versions could increase to as many as each snapshot. Therefor I do believe the table offers little use currently, and should state more exactly about what it actually is about, if it is still useful for different editions of the game, or just remove it completely. – Jack McKalling [ Talk Contrib ] 19:40, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
I've not seen this table before, but it looks like an edge case for using a table, and I'm thinking a list would be more beneficial. If looking at only the Official release columns, most of these are yes, so having this as a table seems strange. In the non-official columns, there are some features going in and out, so this warrants a table to some extent. In other words, my suggestion would be to keep the non-official columns as is, and rather make a list with feature and version number for stuff added after 1.0 (aka official releases). Which features should be included in that list, is another debate. Holroy talkcontribs 20:05, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

I removed the table. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 12:08, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Suggestion on the Name of Mojang[]

In the history section, the company that ran minecraft was named "Mojang Studios". However, since this is a section about history, it will be better to use the historical names of the company, such as Mojang Specifications and Mojang AB. Windwend (talk) 06:04, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Classic blurb wrong[]

in-20091223-1459

The Classic section currently contains a section that reads "Until Minecraft Beta reintroduced it, Classic was the only version of Minecraft with the Creative game mode, which gives players an infinite amount of each block to build with without having to gather them as in Survival mode."

This is not true, as early versions of Indev 0.31 were creative and not survival.
