I really think this should instead redirect to the wikipedia article, as this wiki should only have pages on minecraft, not other games. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 07:01, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

I have to disagree. Notch drew inspiration from Infiniminer (inspiration being used loosely). so, it should deserve a place on here. it's like the alpha-alpha version of Minecraft. --Kizzycocoa 07:15, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes, but this is the minecraft wiki, it should have pages about minecraft, not about other games that notch liked and used ideas from (at the very most those games would be mentioned in the minecraft article, but not have whole pages to themselves), I really don't see how having an article here makes sense. The one on wikipedia has more information anyway. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 07:35, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Nah, I think I`ll ad a link to the wikipedia page in references. Swpe 08:41, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
this is the thing. the big question.
what are we documenting?
are we documenting Minecraft:The game? or Minecraft:The whole?
Look at the Jeb_ page. Jeb_ is not related to Minecraft:The game. there is no NPC character called Jeb_, no mob called Jeb_, or anything else.
However, in Minecraft:The whole, Jeb_ is notable as a developer.
This can be taken further. What do mods have to do with the game? they are not in Minecraft. yet, we want to set up their own namespace. And what of Notch Time? Or the Minecraft Forums? we have pages on all of these.
If we choose Minecraft:The game, then all of these will have to go. all of these.--Kizzycocoa 08:53, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Good question, I think the wiki is about all minecraft related things. So this page should stay. Swpe 09:32, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
They seem like different things really. Jeb is directly related to minecraft, since he actually works on it, where as infiniminer is just inspiration, it's just partially related. I just don't see the point in having pages on partially related things that have perfectly good (better than ours, at least) wikipedia articles already. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 10:38, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
To be honest, this whole argument falls apart the moment I say this: without infiniminer, Minecraft would never have existed as it is today.
Notch only made Minecraft because he was inspired by infiniminer so much, he went and made a clone.
It did not come to him in an epiphany. he has even stated it was Infiniminer. It is the first reference in the article, and I quote:
But then I found Infiniminer. My god, I realized that that was the game I wanted to do. I played it in multiplayer for a while and had a blast, but found it flawed. Building was fun, but there wasn’t enough variation, and the big red/blue blocks were pretty horrible. I thought a fantasy game in that style would work really really well, so I tried to implement a simple first person engine in that style, reusing some art and code (although not as much as you’d think) from RubyDung, and came up with this:

The response was very positive, and I was blown away at how good the framerate, and how well it ran in a browser, so I decided to go for it.
Without infiniminer, we would not be arguing if it should be kept on the wiki. Without infiniminer, this wiki would not exist. --Kizzycocoa 11:15, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
