Negative view
Could we get some better quotes from Mojang? The ones we have now are fairly outdated and make it seem like they still hate Herobrine (which we can see from more recent references and jokes that they do not). It looks like whoever added them really resents this page existing. --Moxxy 03:31, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- It was an unspoken part of a compromise with Quatroking to get the page up at that time.
- but as you can see, especially with the headers, we are breaking through these more and more. I think those comments are the second-to-last to go. then it's trying to get rid of the Mojang header at the top.
- I will be more than happy to add updated comments/quotes. but, the issue is contact. they only reply once in a blue moon. but, if any of them do, tell me! :P --Kizzycocoa 08:37, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- You didn't even have to tell me and I knew it was Quatroking. Way back in 2010 me and him had many heated debates and I've come to know his likes and dislikes. Those quotes just screamed that their addition was his doing :P --Moxxy 03:23, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- ah, I see. touché. Quatroking's a good guy, but dead-set in his opinions on pages. I suppose we all are in a way. I was against the Giant page, as they're a prefix. It happens to us all I guess.
- still, I implore you to find more quotes. we'd love to have them! :) --Kizzycocoa 11:44, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Well, add this statement of Notch from Twitter "Herobrine has never been in the game, ever." 28 Jan 2012; Reference http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/163283361215938560 Demhter 00:33, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Page Changes
I think that the whole creepy-pasta stuff should be removed and be replaced with something better - maybe lore? I guess it is. Keep it up to standard, guys. MagicCreeper 07:32, 2 May 2012 (GMT)
- The creepy-pasta stuff is where it all originated from. there's no way to avoid it, or dress it up as lore.
- Herobrine was a Minecraft slenderman, but unlike slenderman, has become a large part of the medium it emerged from. I would gague that 80-90% of all minecrafters will visit this page at some point.
- But, ignoring that, Herobrine has become a meme, a legend, an icon and an intergral part of Minecraft lore.
- But while that is amazing that one community figure can be all that, we must not forget his origins was as a lowly creepypasta. As a wiki, we have a duty to make all information about this subject factual. and Creepy-pasta is the most factual thing ever.
- I've really run with this post. bored and at college. sorry! XD --212.219.0.20 10:02, 2 May 2012 (UTC) (Kizzycocoa)
In the X-Box 360 game this image: http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc498/rkcteddy/Hero.png
Is seen as a splash in the loading screen. I think it should be added to the In-game messages part of the page.
- Can I have a full-screen screenshot of this message? --Kizzycocoa 07:25, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Creepypasta and definition
First, there is NO dash in creepypasta. second, a creepypasta is not a "Creepy story" it is nightmare-inducing block of text that is copied and pasted over and over again through the internet. i just wanted to point that out. Maxwell the scribblenaut 14:06, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- The dash is there to aid others who may not know of the phrase. it cuts it into two, pronounceable parts for ordinary users.
- Yes. a creepypasta. let me break it down.
- Creepypasta
- Creepy Pasta
- Creepy Paste
- AKA A creepy story, copied over and over. so it is a creepy story.
- whether it is creepy is debatable. but that is the definition. --Kizzycocoa 15:28, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Pronunciation
Many are likely to rage at me for the pronounciation part at the top, but there are many mispronounciations about Herobrine flying around, so it had to be added.
I hope I got the layout right. If not, can users tell me what I should put? the correct pronounciation of the name can be heard at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orgj-d8cDPo
This is how Mojang, Brocast and nearly all users pronounce it. As Brocast is, in part, what made Herobrine, we can only consider this version as canonical, as it predates all other records of Herobrine in audio form.
If users can help me capture that pronounciation better in words, or can record it in a clear way, that would be appreciated. For help, please add me on Skype or steam, both use the same as my username.
if you plan to go ahead without my help, please lay it out as so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hyo9NbnZzc --Kizzycocoa 02:21, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Isn't the pronunciation just the same as saying the two words separately? Hero-Brine? Or are you claiming it's different? --timrem 02:33, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- More or less. But with "brine", some people do not pronounce the I. They say it much like "brin". Some also say "hiro" instead of "hero". But it's hard to convey that in a way must users will instantly pick it up. Those who say brin obviously think brine=brin, so trying to make that clear? In words? Hard. --Kizzycocoa 02:38, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- /hɪroʊbraɪn/, if I got the IPA correct (all I did was merge the two from wiktionary). Not that I find IPA particularly helpful for pronunciation :P --timrem 02:49, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- If I put that, he'll be called Hirobrain, which is not how he's called.
- We need to make it simple, or have an audio equivalent. I myself do not know if that pronounces his name right, but it would definitely confuse the everyday users. --Kizzycocoa 13:05, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- It's Pronounced (Hair-O-Brine) It Is Officially Pronounced Like That.

- And how do you say "brine"? some say "br y ne", some say "brin".--Kizzycocoa 13:50, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

HEROBRINE? Or Herobrin?
Okay, Herobrine...Yeah, it is spelled Herobrine. People pronounce it Herobin. Dude, its herobrIne. Pronounced (Hero-br-I-ne)not trying to be rude, but half of the people that know about Herobrine say Herobrin.
- no, nearly all say "hero br eye ne". Notch has, Brocast did and near all community members do. Mainly as Brine is a word itself. The name of some aquatic thing. --Kizzycocoa 07:25, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- "some aquatic thing" is a lake of saline water under an ocean, kept on the ocean floor by its density. 174.91.16.254 23:02, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for telling me Mr Wikipedia :P yeah, that's what it is. Brine. --Kizzycocoa 23:04, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Herobrine he as Relates to the End Poem
The End Poem talks quite a bit about dreams and illusions, much like Herobrine's "note". The final words in the end poem are "Wake up", Herobrine's signature line. this connection should be mentioned of the wiki page.
- I had the same idea. I updated the End Poem page, putting the possible Herobrine reference under Trivia. However, it is impossible to update the Herobrine page, as I am not an administrator. Let's just hope that somebody notices and puts it on. -Ercenio
- I'm pretty sure there were philosophies that treat reality as a dream around longer than the Herobrine creepypasta, so I can't say we could really connect the End Poem to Herobrine simply from use of the words "wake up". Cobalt32 14:25, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- speculation = no-go on the wiki. --Kizzycocoa 14:38, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yes but i believe it should still be put there because Herobrine was most likely influenced by the End Poem. -RewHiss

1.2.5 update
One of the update bullets for Minecraft version 1.2.5 is "Removed all ghost entities under the command of lord Herobrine." (No signature.) That part was a joke, but it was true about ghost entitys being removed. SuperNaw ~ the creator of the city dimension. 20:18, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
how come i havent seen herobrine?
The title is the question but i cant even get to see 'him'.How come people can get to see him? I dont think he is real but sometimes i feel that he is because encounters say 'he is real!'.Sometimes people say herobrine is a ghost, others say hes a zombie or hacker. My name is a joke coz i haz heard 'bout him.--Herobrine9000 16:53, 10 May 2012 (UTC)herobrine9000
- Herobrine is not in Minecraft. Hence, no-one has seen him. They have either been using mods, or are lying. --Kizzycocoa 16:55, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
The Silence From Doctor Who and Herobrine
In the popular BBC show Doctor Who, the eleventh doctor faces a race of beings called the Silence, creatures that when seen, people wonder what they are, but when looked away from, they disappear and/or are forgotten. Could the Silence be a reference to Herobrine, or vice versa? Also, (unrelated to The Silence, but related to Herobrine) I installed a mod, and i saw Herobrine, could it be that Herobrine was integrated into some mods by hackers or as a creepy prank?
- no. Also, mods can add many things. I doubt the mod was hacked. It was added on purpose. --Kizzycocoa 06:26, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
I agree with kizzy, mods can add anything (No signature.)
Xbox 360 Edition
One of the Xbox 360 Edition saving screens has a message along the lines of "We think 4J removed Herobrine from the game, but we're not sure". Should get exact wording and so forth... --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 12:18, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- We heard before, up in the chat. Can you get a full-screen screenshot of it?--Kizzycocoa 12:20, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
If you push the right analog stick, you will be crouched and it will show that you are in the top left corner. If you are playing as Steve, it will show Steve crouched, but with eyes white like Herobrine. Maybe it's a bug, or maybe it's Jeb's way of putting Herobrine in the Xbox version.
Does anyone know how to get to the creepy pasta story?
I want to see a look into a herobrine story on the fourms, but I can't find anything! Any idea's?Jacob20056 19:36, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- there is no known 100% origin thread. We consider ourselves to be the only source for his story. --Kizzycocoa 00:05, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Is there another recording of the original livetsream?
Does anyone know if there is another video of Brocast's livestream where they introduced Herobrine? 71.164.253.24 14:21, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- I have tried to find it, but to no avail. --Kizzycocoa 15:09, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- If you go to the strem linked from the page, it'll say it has been removed. --SuperNaw ~ the creator of the city dimension. 20:14, 19 May 2012 (UTC) P.S. That's the only link i have! XD
- that link is gone. no way to recover it. if only we could ._. --Kizzycocoa 20:19, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Is or is not there a herobrine?
Okay! I really want to know if there is a herobrine. On one side people say hes real and show videos on how to summon him. on the other hand, people say herobrines not real or a mod. SuperNaw ~ the creator of the city dimension. 20:12, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- he is 100% not real. the only ways he is real are mods. he is not "officially" real. --Kizzycocoa 20:19, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
