Funnily enough, Mojang has actually been on the joke since Beta 1.4. Herobrine never existed, although I think he'd be very easy to kill even if he did exist. -- Mordakai95 18:44 12/02/2012

I have a testimony from someone I know about seeing Herobrine. This person is very trustworthy and doesn't make up tall tales. You'll have to take my word for it, as I can't prove his trust to you. He recalls seeing both the stalking Herobrine and the building/mining Herobrine, and based on his experience as well as a few other videos, I have concluded that Herobrine can place blocks that are unknown, unnamed, and unable to obtain. About the people who claim to see Herobrine, I think that some are just trolling, but others really have seen Herobrine. I have no idea regarding the change logs, but I definitely think Herobrine is out there somehow. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.214.153.20 (Talk| Contribs) 19:17, 10 March 2012. Wait. The page mentions one of the herobrine's spotters source page told you to wake up.At the end of the game it tells you to wake up. Any connection?

An anonymous user repeating claims from someone even more anonymous. This reminds me of the 'friend of a friend' urban legend emails of the late '90s, and is even less believable. -- Orthotope 20:46, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Herobrine started as a rumor, there was a white-eyed version of Steve (the Minecraft standard skin) walking around on the edge of the fog, staring at the player, and then walking away.

It was never known if Notch actually implemented this feature.

However, with update 1.6.6 on May 31st 2011 the changelog mentioned removing the illusive feature altogether.

  • facepalm* can't people get a joke? there is no such thing as Herobrine! notch said that he removed him as a joke!!! and sig you'r posts pls... --Yurisho 15:57, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

In most wikis, anything that is "notable" gets a page. Why not add this page, with a clear header indicating it is a joke, and with factual information such as:

Herobrine was the subject of a persistent urban legend centered around Minecraft. The persistent stories held that Minecraft hid a human NPC by the name Herobrine. The NPC was alleged to build its own mines and homes, and to haunt, taunt, or observe the player in SSP. Although Notch frequently stated Herobrine was a false rumor, he often played along, fanning the flames with tongue-in-cheek twitter posts. In version 1.6.6, he attempted once again to lay the rumor to rest in a tongue-in-cheek manner, by officially declaring that Herobrine had been removed from the game. It is currently unknown whether Herobrine was always a joke, or whether such an ultra-rare NPC did, at one time, exist in the game.

I'm not trying to jump into a delete war here, but Notch is obviously in on the joke, and the topic definitely has notability. And, Herobrine has of course now made it into the changelog, lending further weight to a purpose for this page. TheNthDoctor 17:08, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

I agree, herobrine is a good part of the game because of it being a sort of minecraft mystery and deserves a page,i mean no matter what people will still hear about it, and by deleting wiki pages and forum posts your just making the myth seem even more true because of the bit about posts being deleted on the forum.--Higbey 18:14, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

FYI, I am still in full favour of this page (that's not a thing that stopped happening), despite being demoted twice for it. and I really hope you guys can come up with a way to make the page eligable, which I believe means showing admins, specifically quatro, that the page is noteworthy and needed.
(like the fact many do not know who he is until they see it, and the fact that we have a page for lanterns which were only mentioned, as herobrine once was. in fact, it's the same situation, if you think about it. only it has more history. and the fact the polish wiki has one but has a disclaimer etc. etc. etc.) --Kizzycocoa 18:51, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

I looked into the Herobrine story again and noticed a few things:

    1) The screenshot contains a chicken. Chickens weren't added to multiplayer until
v1.0.17. But the player was on v1.0.16_02.
    2) The version v1.0.16_02 never existed. The version history goes from v1.0.16_01 to
      v1.0.17.

Could someone please clarify for me. --Halo Guru 05:17, 7 July 2011 (UTC) Ok, not like a believe in Herobrine or anything but... http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/21050744559 Explain it.

He found a cave with a sign in it saying 'TuRn B a C K'or something like that. Since only admins can edit this page, can we have an edit copy just like for the main page? We could have rules for this page like these:

  • No sightings
  • No fan-sites

Drenay 22:26, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm just happy the way the page is right now. DarkBlade 02:15, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Well, this isn't too important, but if some admin wishes, he could make the rest two mentions of notch in those chats links. Not important, but useful. --| TheKax | Talk 07:36, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I agree with DarkBlade. I feel glad that the page exists because it has major significance amongst the minecraft community. HOWEVER, it should remain locked because it has all the information it needs. If it was unlocked or had any sort of copy, it would instantly become flooded with "sightings" about how herobrine jumped out of their computer and started spawning perfectly square pieces of sand in their room or some other ridiculous tall tale, they would crop up so often and in such numbers that it would be almost impossible to completely suppress them. It details the original picture, notch's statements on it, and that it does not exist. When I first read this article (I was not on minecraft long enough to hear of Herobrine), I was perfectly satisfied, and felt that it wasn't missing anything. As far as I've heard, Herobrine was not in the source code, and the only development of npcs that perform such lifelike tasks (let alone place and destroy blocks) are for the NPC villages in 1.8. Only God can Save You now... EDIT: With the "Endermen" screenshot recently released, I think this mob may fullfill the purpose of Herobrine, as they seem to be able to place/destroy blocks, while also appearing very sinister. If there is anything even vaguely Herobrine-like in minecraft, it's this mob. Another reason to wait for 1.8! :3 Mybabypetghast 04:45, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm not used to adding things like this and I must also admit I haven't really looked for someone else to mention it, but in the Herobrine page at the bottom, it says: He was also stated to have been removed in 1.7, as well as 1.7_01, this time with no reason apparent. The reason is obvious, look at the bottom line of the image. It says: removed Herobrine. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/File:1.7_changelist.png Herkio 08:58, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

"Endermen"

The "Enderman" mob seen in a screenshot released by Notch seems an awful lot like Herobrine. They are humanoid, sinister and seem to be able to place/destroy blocks. Does anyone think they should get some mention on this page? Mybabypetghast 22:33, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

No. until confirmed, they are not any relation to Herobrine. --Kizzycocoa 22:37, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
I agree with Kizzy, no mention should be added. Though, I must admit, the blank white eyes immediately reminded me of Herobrine :P | TheKax | Talk 14:52, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Understood. Just a question, didn't notch express some desire to add something herobrine-ish? I remember hearing something about it but I can't remember if it's true or not. But even if this is it, there's no proof so I guess you couldn't put that in there. Mybabypetghast 21:16, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

I recon this too...--Yurisho 18:51, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

I don't think that the Endermen replaced Herobrine in any way. My friends and I have still spotted Herobrine after 1.8 adventure update. However, Notch may have done this on purpose to make it seem like Herobrine is gone. ninjakickbutt

Name change

I think the name of this page should be changed to "The Herobrine Hoax", it's catchier, and it immediately clarifies that Herobrine, is, in fact, not real. --AlixeTiir 06:33, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

The usual convention is to name things by their actual name, and possibly as short as possible, and letting the article to explain it in depth. I think we should keep it like that, but a redirect from that title could be possible, but probably useless, since people looking for info on herobrine will just probably type in "Herobrine". TK | TheKax | Talk 14:35, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
"The Herobrine Hoax" would be a nice title for a report, but not for a wiki page. When you search for herobrine, you don't type in "The Herobrine Hoax", you type in "Herobrine". Mybabypetghast 21:24, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Possible proof?

In some official Minecraft logos (Such as Wedding Weekend Logo and the mojang.minecon.com logo), behind Notches character, you can actually see HIM. Is this proof that he is real?

Why are people even still discussing if he's real or not? There is no proof to look for, he doesn't exist, end of story. Vanilla Minecraft doesn't even have the capability to create a mob like Herobrine. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 07:11, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Look, if he wasn't in the games source coding, he could not exist. And if you'd look at the top of this discussion page, you would see that HEROBRINE'S EXISTENCE IS NOT OPEN FOR DISCUSSION! Mybabypetghast 21:19, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

NonVannila Server Clients

If you search around youtube for a little bit, you'll soon find SMP server clients that provide ways to "summon" Herobrine. In vanilla Minecraft, you'll NEVER find him as of now, but in SMP clients, there are gags that make herobrine appear when you summon him (he then lights you on fire) or when there's no one on at nighttime (ingame) Would it be possible to include these in the article with a disclaimer saying, "This is not supported by Mojang or it's affiliates, as it is third-party software," or something? Btw, I'm typing this on my Nook Color, so it's tough to do paragraphs.

There are several Herobrine mods, including some fairly well-made ones using the Bukkit API. I personally think that those mods should be featured in this article and it be given the modding category. Given this article's history, though, I'm not going to push it. --Theothersteve7 19:32, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Humans not removed

When Notch joked that he removed Herobrine, the Human mob wasn't removed - its behaviour (being spawnable with mods and agressive) and existence within the game's code (having no class or skin) never changed. This was discussed a lot on the Human's talk page, but I think it should be raised here. -- Carralpha 16:30, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

I know that you said not to talk about the existence of Herobrine, and that you believe him to be a joke, however, I would advise you to see something. On my friend's server the other day, we had several encounters. Please look into this. Don't write this off as spam. I can see why you would, but, there's no harm in coming to the server, and staying a while, is there? Just tell me if you'd like to. I'll give you the ip. Thanks.

It's called a plug-in. --HexZyle 05:45, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately the article still hasn't been updated. -- Carralpha 08:19, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

The minecraft wiki does not support mods. If you would like to post all the details of the mod, create a new page under Mods/(nameofthemod) and title it with the {{disclaimer}} tag. --HexZyle 10:00, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
I wasn't talking about the mod, I wanted to bring things back to my original point - that the Human mob wasn't removed in 1.6.6 (as the article currently says), but was removed in 1.8. It's just a simple factual problem, but I can't correct it because the page is locked. -- Carralpha 17:52, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
The page is correct. The distinct coding for the human was removed in 1.6.6, another message regarding removing the human's coding was in 1.7, and then the entire human mob was made inaccessable by 1.8. --HexZyle 22:57, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
Then I apologise. I'd thought the Human mob never had any distinct coding (always existing as the general mob class), and it wasn't removed until 1.8. Thanks for clearing it up.
However, the info in the article probably should be clarified to reflect what you say: the word "removed" suggests the mob was fully taken away in 1.6.6, not just losing its separate class, and for 1.8 is says there was "no apparent reason" even though this was when the Human was made fully inaccessible. -- Carralpha 05:37, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
The 1.0 changelog shows "- Removed Herobrine" again... -- GinjaNinja32

Update 1.8

It was once again mentioned that Herobrine was removed in update 1.8. Presumably another joke by Notch to get everyone riled up.

Speaking of 1.8: the New Enderman mob is similar in it's mono-color eyes and ability to alter the Landscape.

Mod

There is a mod on Herobrine called the Herobrine mod. It summons Herobrine when a three by three gold blocks is placed, with a moss stone in the center with a burning netherrack above it. Herobrine has officially been spotted in the game: I myself have seen Herobrine, and I swear this is not a lie. However, I do agree that the Enderman mob may have served Herobrine's purpose, though they aren't creepy enough.

Herobrine is not in the game. at all. the mods may add him, but it remains that he's not in the game. As for endermen, no. that was a slenderman ploy. hence the name. I guess it could be him recreating a version of Herobrine, but it didn't work. it only works as a creepy mystical mob. --Kizzycocoa 16:23, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

saying Herobrine is not part of minecraft is like saying santa has nothing to do with christmas

So yes he's fake. So what, i like Herobrine and i think he should have a place on the wiki. he's part of minecraft not in the code or on the screen but in all our blocky hearts. he is as real a santa or uncle sam, he's a symbol for the fear of a dark mine, the fire of the nether, or the moss of a spawner. He is part of the cuby world. I think he should have a place on this wiki,Ii fear the cold eyes and his soules face but still love him for it. he is fear the fear of a creeper going SSSSSSssss right behind you, the fear of picking into lava the fear of a ghast shooting at your portal, he is all those things with a face. So the community made him so he is real. He's not a person. He's not a thing. He's not even a place. He's and idea. So yes he's real

and this is what i think. JAXLER –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jaxler (Talk|Contribs) Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Notch said it's a slenderman in the music disc!

It would make sense for it to a slenderman because the enderman was the eleventh mob to be added and is based off the slenderman as well as both herobrine and the slenderman have tendency to appear in fog and stalk his victims (the enderman was just inspired by the appearance of the slenderman not his behavior) Labb44oss

In-game Herobrine reference

SMP jokingly references Herobrine. The death message for being killed by an arrow dispenser says the player was "shot by Herobrine". Herobrine "removal" tags info

11 and end game

11 sounds like a sick man entering a vault, thumbing through a book, then running for his life and shouting hero- then it statics out. And with the WAKE UP troll... note in the end game poem (1.9pre6) it says your dreaming and says to wake up. Darthzues 05:38, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Although the "wake up" part is similar, their meanings don't seem related. In the creepypasta, the reader was implied to be comatose (or something) and Minecraft was his reminder that he needs to wake up, while the "end poem" seems to have a more existential overtone.
Frankly, I think it's lame anyway. Cobalt32 05:05, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Isn't this overkill? (Yes, it is)

It's an overwhelming progress for the Herobrine page to be up, at last.

Of course the spam from the pre-teenagers is bad, but it's a curse upon every Minecraft-related site. Anyway, the point is not that.

The point is, the page still shows all the animosity from the Wiki team towards this piece of lore in particular. It seriously looks more like a personal matter than a wiki-related issue.

I haver never seen outside, let's say, old times Uncyclopedia, a page with that many warnings. It's absolutely unnecessary, and makes the moderation team look really silly, "mad", and "butthurt". If the person wants to read about the truths and lies around it, it will read enough to render those I HATE IT ALL stickers useless.

Look, it's hard to maintain a Wiki. But... It really shouldn't be a "dead site". The lore and internal stories ARE part of the game once they reach a certain point. They deserve a place just like the crafting recipes. Humor DOES belong in it. The game is about HAVING FUN.

And by the way, do not mix the meme and lore stuff, they have different contexts. Herobrine for the Internet is mostly a minor spreadly meme. Herobrine for the Minecraft community is part of its lore.

Truthfully, I agree with you. By giving this guy so much popularity, we all are pressuring the development team to create him, and are all trying to agree that he is real or not, just arguing about his existence when we know he is not real NINJAS KICK BUTT 23:23, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Ninjakickbutt

Okay, so someone keeps adding it to the Death Messages section and now I see that it's here as well... See: http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/5473/20111203111527.png for evidence. I'd fix this error myself, but the page is locked, so I cannot. Can someone with editing permissions and an ounce of sense remove that nonsense from this page? Dazuro 19:17, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

I thought whe message will appear in server console. — MiiNiPaaT|C 20:43, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Death messages do not show up in the console. And I just ran a search on my logs, and see no mention of Herobrine, so this is not an exception. Dazuro 03:05, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

I have never run a vanilla server so I don't really know. — MiiNiPaaT|C 09:32, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

I can verify it since I saw this death message at a pvp server I entered. When I saw the message, I was like, "What the eff?" cause it said shot by Herobrine. Notch was trolling. - Asterick6 00:59, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

hero brine is not real

i bet most people who think they saw him saw a zombie or a enderman or something like that 'cause i saw a zombie on short distance and i thought it was him.

You're right And wrong! In singelplayer you're safe from Herobrine. But in multiplayer somebody hacked his account and used it for griefing or scare other players. That happend on my server when i played with my friends, we saw he logged in on my server, and he scared us all! - sirgustaf98

Congrats! You have terrible grammar, and from the fact that neither of you know how to sign your posts, I'm guessing your you're under thirteen. Wait two years and come back. 67.84.90.88 18:10, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

.....Odd...they both tell the player to wake up..Coincidence? or is it a reference to the herobrine scam? XD

My Mom tells me to wake up too... what if she's also a reference to Herobrine? </sarcasm> Cobalt32 14:53, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Video link change/removal

This has already been said before but has since been moved into the archive but I believe it should be done.

"There is a link that used to lead to one of the videos from the livestream encounters. ... The video has since been deleted and simply leads to the actual livestream stream page and the name of the minecraft stream has since changed to "Ghost in the stream". The livestream page isn't even used as part of the stream. I suggest that the link either be changed and targeted at the streams current home (www.ghostinthestream.net/minecraft) and relabeled to fit the new stream name or be removed completely."

Idea for this page

Maybe there could be a separate editcopy page for this, like there is for the main page?

EDIT: As a matter of fact, I've created Herobrine/editcopy for the exact purpose of public editing. Don't take anything contained within the editcopy page seriously.

Probably useless at this point, but...

Something I have known for a long time, but never bothered saying until now: in a video I saw on YouTube, (and no, it was NOT a Herobrine related video. It was a series called "Ze and Chilled's Excellent Minecraft Adventure"; I don't remember what episode it was, but I believe it was an episode where they were using 1.7.1 or 1.8) apparently Ze's skin glitched on his end, making him look like Herobrine for a moment.

This makes me think that, perhaps at one point, Notch (or someone at Mojang that was trolling at the time) had inserted code for Herobrine, or at least the skin, (or code for making the herobrine skin) into an update without actually mentioning he did so. That video is the only legit time when I have seen that happen, so perhaps it was just an error on the part of the user id code on the client side.

Also, there is a mod for adding Herobrine as an actual mob in. If that isn't in the article already, I think it would be worth adding in. LikeLakers2 02:44, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Bug

See this topic in the forum: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/911818-removed-herobrine/page__gopid__11622579#entry11622579 Thanks. NaNdummy 08:37, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

1.1

"Removed Herobrine" was NOT added in the 1.1 changelog. --92.235.12.17 21:26, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

I saw that too. what gets me is, in the changelog i've always seen "herobrine removed" over and over again! i think herobrine keeps coming back... like a virus with a brain. like his soul is bound with the game, and he desperately wants to come back to life. crazy and unbelievable of how this sounds. i fear it to be true. although there is no proof. - icelord02

Or Mojang is just trolling us, considering the reactions that message has been getting. Cobalt32 18:23, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
@ Cobalt32, or that. i might just be getting worked up over nothing. i'm bit paranoid by it though. -icelord02
It's probably because Jeb became head of Minecraft during that time. Just a theory.

Just A Mob/Boss and Enderman Connection

I have noticed that in a video on youtube,a video created by Geared10k shown "Herobrine" attacking him(2nd Real Account of herobrine, seen here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wMmVX67fbA&feature=related)and when Gear trys to kill him,he teleports 2-3 blocks behind him and deals 3.5 Hearts(thats the same amount that Enderman dealt in Normal mode),he can also take blocks and place them anywhere, another abilitie used by Enderman.I think that Herobrine was the Beta Enderman, meaning that once v1.0.6._02 came out,Notch went on the Minecraftforums website as Herobrine, after the first sighting took place, and then Informed other players that this "Brother of notch"("Maybe" the original Enderman)would come out for them, while really, its just a Mob.I also found MUS files that, instead of audio files, they show me a skin of this mob,and I reasearched enough updates to explain my findings:

v1.0.6._02 Alpha:First Appearance,Only runs away from the player instead of fighting,1/1.000.000.000 chance to spawn in any world Inbetween Beta and alpha:Now Hostile 1.6.6 Beta:Spawn rate increased to 1/100 chance if you make a Herobrine Grave(Tutorial shown here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxJ55EvKmKs) 1.8 Beta:Enderman Replace Herobrine 1.8.1:Herobrine is added again, same properties as before. 1.9:"Herobrine/Enderman/Hellhound? Disk"(11) added(Note:the creator of the soundtrack for minecraft says this has nothing to do with herobrine, but insists has something to do with Enderman/Wolfs,I suspect Hellhound mobs in the Nether or End in the future(Maybe just a prediction what Jeb might add next)Prediction of what might have happened here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD8ZNaRNX80) I have rounded up enough facts about Herobrine here(even if you might delete it)So if you see Herobrine,he is not a Dev or Ghost of Notch's brother,he is instead a Prototype of Enderman(Or might be a Original Mob/boss itself entirely) ~Karmacharged

Ahem, 11.mus was added in 1.0.6, the same time as Herobrine was first sighted. The music disc was added much later. There is no connection between 11 and modern day endermen and wolves. It's clearly associated with the original Herobrine. See here for a video regarding 11.mus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et7Aj6Eonrc Retep998 03:03, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

I can see why your right, but remember,Like I said before,Endermen where probably in development during that time,im not sure, but it could be true. ~Karmacharged

Missing word?

In the Trivia section, I think the word "with" should precede "Herobrine". Mjpresson MC 21:45, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

no official appearances

The "Cameos" section says otherwise.

Minecon Trailer Spotted Herobrine

Herobrine can be seen in Minecon official trailer in the right corner at 3:11. It is obviously a custom skin, I've even checked, but still. This could be mentioned in the wiki page under "Cameos". BTW I would have put a link to the trailer but this bloody page first complains me about putting in external links, then tells me to make a math calculation, then show the preview and if I try saving after that, it does the bloody thing again! Someone fix this! 193.64.22.58 17:11, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Planning to remove Herobrine Page.

I have speculated to have the Herobrine page deleted, as this 'Herobrine' is only made up. Firefox4 07:35, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Well, like it was mentioned somewhere above, saying Herobrine has nothing to do with Minecraft is like saying Santa has nothing to do with Christmas. He belongs in the Minecraft world and is very well known by almost every Minecraft fan. This page shouldn't be removed for that reason.ISmile 22:54, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Like I would really believe that? He is fake, no point in having the page here. Firefox4 01:57, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

This isn't just a small meme. He's a massive part of Minecraft history. He's been mentioned numerous times by notch and even has an actual reference in Minecraft. --Moxxy 02:18, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
"has an actual reference in Minecraft." Citation needed. Travürsa 08:12, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Look at every damn changelog since 1.6.6... Ivyn 04:35, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
If it's not real, it doesn't necessarily mean it can't be on the Minecraft wiki. Herobrine is (was?) a huge part of Minecraft fan fiction and it's community. You could even call it mythology. It's also a good part of MC's history. If you want this page deleted, you have no idea what you're talking about. Mybabypetghast 05:09, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
Herobrine is staying for two reasons. one, I did not risk my adminship to have it removed on a whim. two, Mojang commonly use his name. he is even in Minecraft as the reason given for death, when killed by a dispenser. not to mention the media and approval he has received by Mojang. --Kizzycocoa 15:45, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

The secret

Has anyone here ever tried to connect as "Herobrine"? I've checked, and you have not the same skin (for the eyes). I'm using vanilla 1.0.0. Can anyone confirm it? Is it already mentioned? Is it just the launcher I'm using? [Hakim]

How would you connect as Herobrine..? --Lolmaster 16:23, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

-->Try playing offline or using a launcher.
A user has already registered as Herobrine, changing the skin to Herobrine's skin. It is not an easter egg, but a fan's doing. we are not in contact with the user. their identity is still not out there. --Kizzycocoa 18:38, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. Shouldn't it be mentioned in trivia? Maybe people that don't use verify name have seen him in their servers, and it's why they think he exist. So I think a reference to it should be added. [Hakim]

nope. we don't document unnotable users. unless Herobrine is found out to be, say, an admin of the Minecraft Forums, we cannot identify them.--Kizzycocoa 15:20, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Unless the server you're playing on has Mob Disguise (In which you can type "mdp Herobrine") then you can't log in as Him.ISmile 01:50, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Brocast stream

Does anyone know where I can watch the stream? It's been removed, and I really want to see it. I couldn't find it anywhere. --Lolmaster 21:22, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

no idea. but trust me, it wasn't interesting. it was all drama, no bite. like Twilight. the REAL herobrine is known from the image. brocraft just tried (failed) to make him cool. instead, they attracted attention to herobrine himself, not as he was portrayed. basically, he went in a room, a painting with Herobrine on it was there, and he immediately ran away screaming. that's it.--Kizzycocoa 15:20, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Disappointing. --Lolmaster 01:54, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

herobrine is real

i was breaking a tree when i heard a ghastly noise i looked back and saw a white eyed Steve holding a gold sword. it scared the shit out of me. all people that don't believe in him, i'm letting you know hes watching you, hes going to kill you in your sleep. --->Asking permission to delete this section, that is obviously a speculation AND a false story [hakim]

Herobrine is real, but only on some computers. The original sighting happened while on short render, suggesting a poor computer. While updating from an older version that had the human mob, it glitched and multible layers of programming formed on the human Mob, giving it a basic conciousness. However, his original instincts of hurting the player combined with new building abilities. Notch later eradicated the human mob's programming altogether in order to prevent rampant AIs from ruining the minecraft experience. -Walt27

Testificate.com

While the domain was registered on December 23, 2011, the content could have been added any time afterward. It was updated on February 8, so I'd guess the actual page was launched after that date. Anonymizing whois data is fairly common (many people don't want their full name, address, and phone number publicly listed), so I don't think we can draw any conclusions from that. Modification date on the page itself is March 11.

A Google search on 'site:testificate.com' shows a previous page title of 'Stop lying to us, Notch.'. It also turns up inspircd.testificate.com, which redirects to https://github.com/inspircd, an IRC daemon with no apparent connection to Minecraft. -- Orthotope 23:03, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

From further analysis, 30 minutes after your comment, we found out Bukkit uses this system, or so I was told.
So, anyone remember when bukkit was hired by mojang? And that they overhauled the chat system recently?
We believe that the Bukkit team is responsible for this page's existence. --Kizzycocoa 00:30, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

FYI The SOA DNS record identifies petpow@saberuk.com (http://saberuk.com/) as responsible for it. 198.164.31.14 16:02, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

this is greatly confusing. there seems to now be 8 owners of this domain. Saberuk, all those listed here: https://github.com/inspircd and Bukkit. --Kizzycocoa 16:22, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Reference to Wag the Dog

The Scentence "I don't know about Disk 11 but it has nothing to do with Herobrine" is most likely a reference to the Movie Wag the Dog in which they use the denial "it has nothing to do with the b3 bomber" to distract the news reporters from an affair of the potus.--193.23.163.142 15:02, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

no. it was a casual IRC conversation. --Kizzycocoa 16:22, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

The rumor of 1.3

A rumor is currently spreading around that Herobrine will be added in 1.3. This should be added to the page, because most people at the moment do NOT know about this rumor and should be told.

check the "potential viral website" part. --Kizzycocoa 21:23, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Also, the purpose of the wiki is to document facts, not spread rumors. -- Orthotope 02:06, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
This is also true. Which is why I minimised actually saying "1.3" to only one mention in that entire section, and stressed that, while we believe Bukkit is responsible, we still only have our own research to go on. --Kizzycocoa 08:27, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
