SMP Hardcore

There needs to be ban on death for SMP hardcore. This would be great so players can kill off the griefers instead of the griefers just respawning. It would add a point to having wolves, too. Also, established players would we way better equipped than griefers. Currently, the players lose to griefers every time. This would make it more of a contest.

Also, this would make your life a thing to protect. OPs should not get banned on death.

Yeah nice Idea, and if a good player is unfortunade he can never play again on your server. There are enough plugins and ways to handle griefers. And besides that, no matter how well you are armed, if you are caught by surprise... your gone. --22:01, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Ultra hardcore mode

Notch recently posted an image of a 'ultra hardcore button, and although not part of minecraft, it is still notable as a joke. I believe it should be added to the page. Discuss. 1DNGn

If we added every single joke Notch makes on his twitter the wiki would be a mess. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 14:05, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Understood. Rdm box 15:22, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

The image in the tweet above is already uploaded, but is it not confirmation that Hardcore mode will be in 1.9.2 pre-release? It is in the top left of the image... --Throex 15:17, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Glitch

...When you die in hardcore mode, your world is "deleted"... So, why is it that when I re-enter the same name and seed of my "deleted" world, it's exactly the same as when I died. I was even able to pick up my dropped items from the crater where the creeper that killed me exploded. The wheat seeds I had just planted were also still in the same stage of growth. Try it. Just remember your world name and the seed you used to create it and re-enter them after you die and your world is "deleted". Bam. –The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.183.116.247 (Talk) Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Woah. If that happens regularly, you could have just found a bug that nullifies the entire concept of Hardcore Mode. :o Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 21:29, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
Nope, just tested it. I spelled "LOL" in wood next to the spawn and killed myself, then regened with the same seed and name. The world was reset. Also, when writing on a talk page about a new subject, add a new header. --Saphireking65 21:56, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

As far as I understand, Hardcore mode is supposed to be locked in the hard setting. However, going to the main menu and choosing Peaceful mode under Options will stop aggressive mobs from spawning if a world is created at this time. I have yet to test whether this will occur if the difficulty is changed to Peaceful once the world is already created. However, I have confirmed that turning it back to non-Peaceful will cause aggressive mobs to spawn. Could someone test this out (unless this is supposed to occur, which I doubt)? –The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.33.42.152 (Talk|Contribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~

This has already been noted. --Wizjany 21:10, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

I had the same thing happen to me back in the 1.7 update, although a little different considering hardcore was not around. Anyway, I had a save file go corrupt on me, I attempted to repair it, fix it, anything I could do and I couldn't. So I deleted it, then used the exact same name that I used before and when my map loaded, it was all there. Every item, chest, building, tunnel and edit I had made. The only thing missing was my inventory. I am sure if a seed was used when creating the world I would have needed the seed as well, but in my case it was not needed. So this could be a bug that has been around for a while and they have not noticed it.. --Throex 00:22, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Creepers

From what I can tell, creepers seem to be modified in hardcore mode, I have had many close encounters without dying or taking much damage from their explosion, however, they arent exactly nerfed since they seem to have double health, or just about. Is there anybody here who could test this? I'm not sure if it's just me. (also: I can't log into my account because it's case sensitive, since my username reverts back to all lowercase when I remove my cursor from its login textbox,so sorry for the anonymity.) ~Guy (with uppercase G.)

It seems like every aggressive mob has increased health in 1.9 pre-2 and pre-3; at least, that's just what I've noticed. FatherToast 23:01, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
I see, I just realized later yesterday, however, the question about the creeper damage being nerfed; can anybody else test to see if creepers in hardcore cause little to no damage? I had 2 blow up in my face point blank, I had no armor and I took 1 and a half heart of damage from each explosion. ~Guy
Died twice from creeper explosion on hardcore in 1.9 pre 3. For me it still oneshot at point blanc — MiiNiPaaT|C 12:36, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
that's so weird, I guess its just me :(
I'll try it with another world then, see if it reverts to normal.

maybe its a bug, because I have absolutely no mods running, it's locked on hard difficulty w/ hardcore enabled. ~Guy

Playing 1.0, I also seem to notice Creeper damage seems to have been nerfed considerably. ~AO

hardcore on SMP.

i wonder how HC mode will work on SMP, if its even there?

I doubt it can. If it could I would assume it would remove either the level.data only or the entire folder.
It can work there pretty easily by banning the player on daeth. No need to remove any level files.... --95.88.156.189 22:00, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

World Conversion

When I create a world in hardcore mode with the Beta 1.9 pre-release and then play it with the Beta 1.8.1 version, the world permanently converts into a standard survival world, Can someone verify this is SOP? Also, is this appropriate to post? Revuri 03:50, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Yes, it does, but you can get the hardcore mode status back with NBTedit. You can also change modes in 1.8 with it. -faultofdan

Converting 1.0.0 Worlds?

This page has some information regarding converting pre-release 1.9.x worlds from hardcore to other modes. Now that the game has been released I feel there should be a comment about converting these worlds on the page itself. Thoughts?
