Possible deletion?
Notch hasn't said anything about fish for about a year. I don't think he is still planning on adding them. Then again, there was the infamous case of the Enderdragon. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.227.214.206 (Talk) 14:51, 13 November 2011. Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- I believe this page should be deleted. Notch has thought of adding dozens of things, most of which are just ideas with no real plan. The Dragon was something notch kept hinting about throughout the long, long period since he mentioned it until it was developed, even putting in a Splash about it. It's an exception, this definitely isn't. --71.51.146.49 18:55, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- If I was editing this as a normal article I would remove 100% of it as speculative, outdated or using weasel words (It doesn't matter if "Some people think that...") This page really needs to go. --Moxxy 05:53, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Notch/Jeb didn't find a model, so the thing was to be added in later updates. -- ZackWindhog 10:08, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
I personally don't think it should be deleted. It should be kept; if not for fact, then nostalgia. Besides, Notch could be adding them as a prefix mob. He's alwas said he would add hostile water mobs, so maybe he'll add Pihranas or sharks or some other water mob. Just my opinion.--Apocalyptic Builder 00:10, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- There's no nostalgia though, it never existed. The prefix mob concept has been dead for a long time and Notch doesn't even work on Minecraft anymore. --Moxxy 01:31, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- I agree with not deleting fishes, at least not yet. I wouldn't say they are nostalgia, but fishes seem to be the most simple and speculated for a next soon-to-be water mob. Now that Jeb runs the main development, perhaps there would be a chance that he might check out Notch's ancient idea, or even think of his own. --ThingsStuffsObjects 03:08, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
I believe it should stay, as after all it WAS in the coding at one point. Just because it didn't physically appear in the game doesn't mean the page shouldn't exist. Oh wait, this wiki wants to be incomplete as just because the player couldn't see it in gameplay the object in question must not have been planned or existed in some form. Why don't we delete the pigmen article then? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Ivyn (Talk|Contribs) 05:47, 8 February 2012. Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- EXACTLY. They existed in the coding, but weren't visisble. Therefore they were technically in the game. --Apocalyptic Builder 12:34, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
- it wasnt in the coding if it was notch would of take the time to make a model and a texture and pigmen have the texture and people like them WAY more –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Enderdragon (Talk|Contribs) 01:02, 11 February 2012. Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- Yes, it was. Fish coding was put in the game during the Haloween update, but because Notch was busy with other things he never found time to make a model. I haven't checked in awhile, but I'm pretty sure the fish coding is still there. Check it yourself. Also, next time you make a comment sign it with four tildes. --Apocalyptic Builder 13:57, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- I cannot find any such code. While MCP decompilation of Alpha 1.2.1 produces an EntityFish class, this is actually the fishing hook, not a mob. -- Orthotope 19:33, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
I think it would be a good idea not to delete this page7, but instead make a model for the fish which would allow for the cats and ocelots to hunt fish. (Sparda3092 18:34, 11 February 2012 (UTC))
- A mod to add fish would be possible, but belongs on the forum, rather than here. -- Orthotope 19:14, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- What is the code's class file? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.113.88.123 (Talk) 13:07, 8 July 2012. Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- There isn't one; it was never implemented. -- Orthotope 19:33, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
No way fish are absolutely needed i cant let mineraft stop without fish mobs Zigzagar 23:42, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Having retrieved the talk page..." clownfish will be the only way to tame cats"?
Does anyone have an actual citation for that? It certainly qualifies as "new and surprising". --MentalMouse42 (talk) 19:18, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- And... it turns out to be the only edit from an anonymous IP. Reverting. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 19:32, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Fish bucket
Why is there a redirect and a whole item section for fish buckets on this page. Fish buckets should have their own page. --Pepijn (talk) 10:41, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Move to Fish
This would be more consistent with pages such as Chicken, with its food equivalents being moved to Raw Chicken and Cooked Chicken respectively. - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 21:52, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

Pufferfish vs Puffer fish
I noticed that some parts of the wiki use "puffer fish", while other parts use "pufferfish". Which one is preferred? -EatingSilencerforBreakfast (talk) 16:49, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
- We use the ingame name (en_us). The food item is called "pufferfish". The mob, fish bucket and spawn egg use "puffer fish". Blame Mojang. --Pepijn (talk) 22:33, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I brought this up because I noticed that the entitylink (Pufferfish) calls the puffer fish mob, "pufferfish". In this case, it should be changed to "puffer fish". -EatingSilencerforBreakfast (talk) 22:39, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, that does need to be changed.--

Unclear spawning
How exactly do fish spawn? Are they like other passive mobs, only spawning in world generation, or can they continuously spawn as the game goes on? Basically, what I mean is, if you kill all the fish in one world, would more fish spawn or would they be gone forever? Usually I would assume that they would only spawn upon world generation like other passive mobs, but they aren't breedable and the article says fish buckets are renewable.--
Madminecrafter12T • C 15:55, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- No passive mobs only spawn at world generation. Neither do fish. --Pepijn (talk) 15:58, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- Fish spawn the same way squid do. Although there currently is a bug where they don't count towards the water creature mob cap, therefor if you kill all squid as soon as they spawn fish can spawn indefinitely. – Fuzs 16:43, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- I should have clarified, I meant at chunk generation (the spawn article says that animals only generate upon chunk creation). I'm comparing this to hostile mobs, which can spawn in the same chunk infinitely as long at the right conditions are met.--
