Identifying uses and Speculation
Possible Use
When I was playing yesterday, I picked up a pearl at night and was immediately attacked by a skeleton. If I was shot in the back, I took damage, but when facing the skeleton with the pearl out, the skeleton's arrows seemed to deflect off of me!(They would hit, and then would be turned around, falling to the ground.) I'm not sure if it is a bug or not but others please try and test this out!
is this what it does
I'm not sure if it was a bug or because of the pearl, but somehow when i was playing I saw two endermen just die. but it was still night and other mobs were still alive. has anyone seen the same?
- Were they taking a swim? Endermen are highly allergic to bodies of water & rain. — Toshu (talk) 09:14, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Some people are expecting for the ender pearl to have to do with Time travel.
uncat.
Ender Pearls do not stop you staring at endermen, I have just tried it now (remember looking at endermen heads do not work anyway)
- Same goes for me, I tried having it in inventory and also holding it but they still chase me Yandols 16:05, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Ender Pearls for Teleportation?
Think of it this way. Creepers can explode, and they drop Gunpowder. Gunpowder is used to create exploding TNT. Endermen teleport, and they drop Ender Pearls. Perhaps these pearls will be able to be used to create teleporting devices? Perhaps this feature will be added in a later update?
- This is almost certainly what will end up being the case. You will craft several pearls together into a device that will allow you to teleport to your spawn point at any time, like a Hearthstone in World of Warcraft.--71.170.235.135 00:44, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Either that idea or mine - each teleportation to your spawn point costs one pearl, but the pearl can be used in its default state. Now, my idea rests on the notion that the Endermen will always be as common as they are now; if they become rarer, your idea is better (build one item, works for a really long time). Zoythrus 01:00, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- And this is all speculation. Take it to the forums, please. 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:05, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Ender pearl's use?
Im sorta confused...on the page it says they have no use, yet theres this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNwEXSIUBD0
As you can see they do have a use. So is video fake or something? Or did I miss something really obvious? Jtlcr777 00:35, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- EDIT: Noone answered me, so I just went ahead and added it. Jtlcr777 20:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- That video doesn't really show the use very well. He kinda just runs around while claiming the ender pearl causes them to teleport. He even says something along the lines of, "It worked, but I didn't use the pearl." That is because Endermen teleport, that's their behavior. If one happens to teleport when you right click it, it's a coincidence, because, more often than not, right clicking with an ender pearl won't do anything. CaMoreno3 23:44, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- Huh, alright then. Thanks for telling me, I was really wonderng why noone considered that video as evidence of a use. Jtlcr777 23:56, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

they might have used a mod, probably home made. Normally Endermen will hit you 1st, then teleport away after getting hit.
Pearl Effects Clarification?
Could the paragraph related to the way the pearls affect Enderman behavior be clarified a bit? I have trouble understanding exactly what happens when the pearl is in your inventory. XxNewbVandalxX 03:16, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- There is an edit war in progress over that. It's hard to clarify anything while an edit war is going on. >>HexZyle<< TALK|CONT 04:36, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
I've not had this issue. As long as the pearl is in my bag, they won't attack me when I look at them.
Yeah, whenever I have the Ender Pearl, sign of friendship to (or power over) enderman, they just have a pink essence and they don't attack me.
I was smashing an Enderman with a pearl for fun, it didn't teleport.
Lava "bug" not working
the article says that if you throw an Ender Pearl into lava, a dead Enderman appears. I've thrown in two and nothing happens.
also, who says that this is an Easter Egg? seems rather pointless. Zoythrus 15:57, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
- I think whoever put that up was trolling. Im still investigating it though. BsiGio 18:15, 11 September 2011 (UTC) 02:12, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Unknown use solved?
Every time I watch a video in which someone is holding an Ender Pearl, I never see an Enderman teleport. Is that the pearls power? Endermen don't teleport when you're holding it?
Well, I have proven that if you right click an Enderman within arm's reach with an Ender Pearl, it forces him to teleport. Although, this isn't very useful, all it does is give you a few more seconds to flee. Zoythrus 15:51, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
I've actually just discovered the real use. It can hurt Endermen from a distance, but doesn't hurt other mobs.
^"Pics or it didnt happen."^ Zoythrus 15:09, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Okay, well I found the real use. Punching mobs from a distance. Yes, it says that may not be a use in the main page, but that is exactly what it does.
That's because you are in creative mode. When in creative mode, you can hit futher. And try signing you post with ~~~~ please. 75.137.68.131 22:29, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Please add a reference.
If you decide to make some sort of claim to what the Ender Pearl does, please add a reference to provide some sort of proof. Until Notch or Jeb come out and say what the Ender Pearl actually does, there will be a war. If an edit is added without some sort of proof, I will revert it back.CaMoreno3 20:38, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- AND I WILL TOO ! ! !
I discovered the uses of the ender pearl.
There are a few uses to the ender pearl, although i don't have any program to make a video or anything, so i can't really prove it.
1) It will make endermen teleport away if you right-click.
2) If you wear a pearl, it will halve the distance at which endermen become agressive when you look at them.
3) Lets you attack endermen from a greater distance (unknown how much of a distance increase and you must be holding the pearl.)
4) Your hunger meter won't drop when it's in your inventory.
You can test these out if you want to, and if nobody replies i will add the information.
--JoeTheGreat123 21:49, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'll go test these right now. But seeing as there is an edit war on the Ender Pearl page right now, please don't add anything without a reference. A video, or a tweet from Notch/Jeb would work. CaMoreno3 22:27, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
if you look at an ender man anywhere on there body they will go aggressive (test again for me please) (By Addsey)
- I tested all these claims in survival mode on normal difficulty by creating a flat world with only grass and importing an Enderman Spawner using MCedit.
- 1) Enderman DO NOT teleport away when you right click with the pearl. If they teleport while being right clicked, it is merely a coincidence, because more often than not, it doesn't work.
- 2) The pearl DOES NOT cut Endermen's aggro distance in half as far as I can tell. Endermen spotted me watching them from very far distances regardless of whether or not I was holding a pearl.
- 3) IN SURVIVAL MODE the pearl DOES NOT increase the your attack distance. When trying to attack any mob from a long distance, the pearl did nothing with both right and left clicking. However IN CREATIVE MODE any item can attack any mob from long distances, not just the Ender Pearl. So the Ender Pearl is nothing special.
- Through the testing I've done it is my opinion that as of now, the Ender Pearl does nothing. I do not have the means to make a video to prove any of these claims. If anybody can make a video, please do so. CaMoreno3 23:40, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- The ender pearl might be a form of curreny, notch always said he wanted to add that. I mean it IS a pearl, and pearls are valuable in real life. You could use the pearl to buy blocks.
- Every time I have right-clicked an Enderman with the Ender Pearl, they teleported. I can't remember how many times I did it, but every time it happened. Coincidence? I think not. --SN777 Divinus, King of Blargs 04:43, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- Then make a video and prove it. It never works with me or others. CaMoreno3 06:40, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I tested it by forcing them to teleport a few times (by using the Ender Pearl, of course), but then I let one just run into me, and it did. It wouldn't teleport unless I "told" it to (whether via pearl or hitting it). Zoythrus 21:02, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- I too have confirmed that this is not true. Either there are other circumstances at play, or you, sir, are trolling. Either way, we need more than your word. Cleverlynamed1 21:09, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- There may have been other things in play at the time, because I tried it once again and nothing happened. It may have been some pre-release bug or something, but I do know that I somehow was able to force them to teleport (on multiple occasions). Well, whatever it was is gone now, so this myth is busted. Zoythrus 21:51, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Endermen teleport without right clicking the pearl...
It's their attack strategy, you look at them as they run at you, then they teleport behind you and attack. By the way, did you know you can attack mobs from a lot further away in creative mode? That explains the other "power" of the pearl ;) I for one, am betting it will do nothing to Endermen, and will rather let you teleport. Skeletons and creepers drop things that help you use the power of that mob, (arrows and gunpowder). Besides, Endermen aren't so difficult that you need a special item just to weaken them. Just my two cents. simpley by hovering a ender pearl over an enderman they will teliport 5-10 blocks away
A later effect on blocks?
I was trying to figure out what the use of Ender Pearls is, and i noticed while right-clicking a block with the ender pearl in my hand, it shook. I'm wondering if ender pearls could do something to blocks. Maybe it will be added in 1.9, like actual npcs and having XP do something. [EDIT] maybe it has something to do with the enderman's ability to pick up and move blocks?
- It could be that they're used for crafting. Maybe a teleporter block?
- Has anyone dis proven that it helps mine blocks faster yet? I had 4 ender pearls today when mining some dirt and I swear it felt a smidgen faster than normal. If there is any increase it cannot be much at all. --Maduo 17:44, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- It has no effect on mining, range, or anything, I've tried. any effects you MAY be experiencing are mental. however, i Have noticed that, sometimes, Endermen will freeze if looked at from a certain distance, but this has nothing to do with the pearl. it CAN be use to gain a small advantage in battle. --User:Kyosu
- If by "freeze" you mean stare at you menacingly and freakout/twitch then start randomly teleporting to you, then chances are it's not the pearl :D The best way to kill endermen, imo, is to just bring a bucket of water along or indirectly swordy them. But like you said, that has nothing to do with the pearl XD. Anyways.. the ender pearl kinda looks like an eyeball.. has anyone tried making an "ender block" or "ender guard" yet? with the latest addition of the snowmen, it wouldn't seem too far of a stretch. --Maduo 20:23, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
Banhammer please!
Too many edit wars. People keep posting speculation on the page itself. Please place a restriction on this page. Cleverlynamed1 20:46, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

- I suppose I should have said "Banhammer-er" An edit lock is what I meant. :-/
realistic use's
I am not going to post a lot of crap like they allow you to attack from far away or anything I'm going to say realistic use's
1.They could be used in villiges as payment ie 3 for a diamond pick
2.As Notch/jeb has stated that they like the idea of summoning boss mobs like minecraft they could be used in a way like 2 pearls-Giant
3.They could be used to level up attack strength or health aalthough experince orbs seems a more likely cand. for this
4.They may be able to teleport you to your bed or spawn once each pearl
5.The only other realistic use I can think of is using them in lanterns as the lights Desacobose 02:38, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- From those options, I think 4 is the best. Some way to recall yourself to your spawn point would be extremely useful! Zoythrus 03:38, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- How is posting speculation supposed help improve the page? -.- Shockman25 03:55, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
This was an attempt to make the most likely uses for them known and stop all the annoying "they make endermen teleport nonsense"PS:why did you come to me the most realistic post instead of the ones that tell behaviors of endermen?Desacobose 06:18, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Lovely, someone's added that section back. If the wiki does not contain information stating what something doesn't do, I would assume that it doesn't do those things anyway. Therefore, that section is pointless. --—smoni 14:55, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Firstly, you base your thought on the premise that the wiki is complete, and contains all information possible regarding the game. This is not true. Furthermore, and based on this, the assumption that, "If the wiki does not contain information stating what something doesn't do, I would assume that it doesn't do those things anyway." is flawed. Since you have both a flawed implied premise and a flawed declared premise, your argument is proven unsound - twice. Furthermore, the purpose of this wiki is to provide as much information as possible regarding the game, including dispelling common misconceptions. I.E. the Herobrine page clearly stating that he is indeed a myth. Thus, the section has purpose. Cleverlynamed1 15:23, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Alright. To be fair though, Notch himself has joked about Herobrine's existence, (and removed 'him' from the game in a few updates), which may lead some people to think he actually existed. --—smoni 15:41, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- It seems that your implied premise states that there should not be information regarding something NOT existing, unless there is sufficient reason, through cause, for people to believe the opposite. I agree with this, but I do not agree with the necessary syllogism for your (again implied) conclusion that there is not sufficient reason, through cause, for what we have placed in the article. As you can see in the discussions above, all of what we confirmed to not exist in the article are pervasive misconceptions. Thus, due to the theory of cause, (nothing comes to exist without something causing it), we can see that there is cause for these misconceptions - and thus - reason, through cause. Cleverlynamed1 15:56, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough if these misconceptions are wide spread enough to warrant clarification. —smoni 16:15, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- And that's the question. I can't prove that it is, although I have looked throughout several Minecraft related sites and seen these ideas repeated in several places. I believe the benefit incurred by clarification is much greater than whatever negatives you may see. Cleverlynamed1
- it may help to point out in the code, the enderpearl is just a plain item, no special class, ie it will have NO on click attributes. --nekosune

Ender Pearl's main section misleading
I know it's all locked up, but saying the ender pearl is "purely decorative" doesn't make any sense. Just say it currently has no use. Decorative implies that it can be used for decorating. There's enough speculation going on that word choice should be considered when talking about the subject.

Tools
I wish Notch would make Ender Pearl tools. Probobly as strong as Stone/iron tools. I think it's a good idea. Tropius 00:28, 16 September 2011 (UTC)Tropius
Iron tools for sure. Not stone because stone is so common :P 166.147.114.168 22:25, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Notch(or maybe Jeb) said something about improving tools or repairing them. maybe this is what ender pearls will be used for?
I don't know about that. ^^^^^^ But there are a few "quotes"(swidt?)around the net of notch and jeb speaking of armor and wep. upgrades. the pearls might be used to this end in some way. They may also be linked to the imminent Nether updates.
I suppose we'll see..
I thought that they could be used to upgrade tools for a period of time. Check out Get satisfaction and search for Enderpearl upgrades / uses --Chappens 20:12, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Pearls as decoration
i like them, i want to see them as a decoration, like you take glass and you go to crafting, you put 8 glass blocks around it and you get an ender pearl surrounded by glass that you can use as a decoration

I may have found something interesting...
I had an ender pearl just a day or two ago, and rightclicked a block of dirt. It turned to sand... I don't know why... I will try to redo this, and a video may be linked this evening, if I'm successful... Stay tuned Jrb95 07:20, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

I have failed to replicate this as well... It's strange, I really thought that it would be something... Jb out Jrb95 21:06, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Does anyone else find it strange that the image of the enderpearl exists in-game, except it doesn't exist in the items.png that Jeb posted. Reflect upon this.
it could be worth pointing out that you can turn sand to dirt by bonemealing a mushroom. could this be a related bug?
A use?
I threw one on the ground near enderman and it seem to be attracted to it like staying in that area i test this from 8 blcoks away and they seem to hover around it Blaxout1213 21:35, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- If that happened, it is unrelated to the Ender Pearl. Ender Pearls have no use in the code, and therefore cannot have a use ingame. It's quite impossible for Ender Pearls to do anything in 1.8.1. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 21:37, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
SMP use
Maybe Ender Pearls can be used like slimeballs before 1.7... they could be used as tokens. Just my idea Also, when 1.9 comes out, they could be used as money in NPC Villages. Just my ideas! 184.190.209.208 00:30, 20 September 2011 (UTC) Guy Stupois 184.190.209.208 00:30, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Possible use for Ender Pearl?
If you right-click a block while holding the Ender Pearl, it does the "use animation". Seeing as Endermen can teleport, maybe with an Ender Pearl, we can make teleporters? Right-click one block, then right-click another, thus linking them and making a teleporter. Just a thought. -RussianZombeh
- It does the use animation on everything... Sticks do to, maybe they spawn the herobrine if you use it on lava. (I'm of course being sarcastic.) Also, use the ~~0~~ without the 0 for your signiture, not just typing your name. BsiGio 22:26, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Another use of Ender Pearl
I think I found another use of Ender Pearl, among the one which it aleready has (teleporting). It also works only in 1.9 Prerelease 2, same as the teleporting. I am not sure if it is a feature ot just a bug/glitch. When i teleported two times, all Endermen started to teleport away when looking in them. I know its their regular behavior, but this teleporting is little different. When they come near, they dont even hit me, teleport away, and become neutral again. Then i tested it without even looking at them. Same result. They teleported without entering agressive mode. I also noticed that every tme they come near, purple particles (which they are leaving) appear behind me. I tested it on Spider. I came near and it ALSO teleported. Im not kidding now. It may be just a bug. Can someone test it? --Patko0770 19:17, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
