Shouldn't this be renamed "Unnamed Black Block", or something like that? –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Craftykids (Talk|Contribs) Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- prerelease 3 tomorrow, we'll learn the real name then, no need to fight over it now --Wizjany 21:58, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Black Stuff
Wow, really? I don't think this is worth an article.... Electrk 22:01, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- just give it 24 hours, by which point there will be a lot more info and a new name --Wizjany 22:19, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Wait, WHAT? Tell me what this is all about! --Captain_Clam 22:47, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Oh, thanks. Looks like stars and sparklies to me. Probably a new mineral. (But I bet a bunch of people are gonna get freaked out and thing Notch is changing obsidian...) --Captain_Clam 22:52, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
IDK what it is. But to me, with the blackness and the random coulored spots, it just looks like oil...--BTH 23:37, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Personally a new mineral is something we needed all along. More than likely its a rare mineral for the potions/brewing coming out. --Throex 23:45, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Also, Wizjany.. You said prerelease 3 tomorrow? How do you know of that? --Throex 23:46, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Twitter...let me go get it...here, http://twitter.com/notch/status/121671215147528192 --Wizjany 01:40, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Just thought of something: Magnetite? --Captain_Clam 01:31, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- No, it's not a pokemon. --HexZyle 05:20, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Appearanace in 1.9 prerelease 3?
So, is it there or not?--BTH 20:43, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, here's the fun part: It has no official name. It also seems to be pretty much unused, although it does use TileEntity data, but nothing besides the base "id, x, y, z". The id for the tilentity is "Airportal". --Wizjany 20:49, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- Its page time.--BTH 20:57, 6 October 2011 (UT C)
- it seems to be some kind of portal, case we have 3rd dimension pre-generation in server console now, and "tunnel.png" file in minecraft.jar --DaveDee 21:36, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Technical Block
Like the Nether Portal Block this is a Technical block and should be listed on that page, and linked to via re-direct. --96.227.157.254 17:57, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- Lets wait until we know more about it to do make changes that major. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 17:59, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
Regarding the name
Regardless of where it leads, the block's only source of a name comes from the ID of the tile entity it uses, and it was decided that it should be left like that. The only other suitable name is "weird black stuff", because that's what notch said once (http://twitter.com/notch/status/121974152998567936). The block does not directly have a name in code, so it's probably that he was just trying to keep it secret. --Wizjany 20:58, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
Speed Increase
Am I the only one whose player moves much faster while moving over this block? If not, we should add it to the page.
-Tedious- (or _Ion_, ingame) 23:56, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- That doesn't happen to me. ☁ Shockman25 ☂ Talk ☁ 05:35, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- You don't move any faster. It's just an illusion due to the appearance of the block. 96.245.177.118 03:00, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Air Portal Frame
I want to add this to the top paragraph but it isn't working: They occur inside Ender Portal Frames in the pre-release versions of the game. --gmip 58.106.67.247 06:20, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Sorting out these Portal Pages
Thinking of doing the same thing that is done with the Nether Portal pages to this one. The link - Portal leads to a disambiguation page. This contains:
Nether Portal - the formation of obsidian and portal
- Technical blocks#Portal - the purple portal that is on the technical blocks page
Ender Portal (structure) - the formation of ender frame and ender portal blocks (as a mimic of the Nether portal page set up)
- Ender Portal Frame - The blocks with the Eye of Ender insets in them
- Ender Portal - the starry design portal blocks, which should really belong on the technical blocks page with the other portal block.
I propose some moves.
- Ender Portal moves/merges with Technical blocks#Ender Portal (new section)
- Ender Portal Frame remains where it is...until the official name is discovered
- Ender Portal (Structure) which doesn't exist yet, should be called "Ender Portal" (but cannot yet as the Ender Portal is sitting on that page name at the moment) and probably look something like this
I have brought this up on all talk pages that it regards, and any comments you have please add here: Minecraft Wiki talk:Community portal#Ender Portals moves and renames as somewhat of a megathread to all of whom it concerns --HexZyle 04:41, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Can you pick up the ender portal frame in 1.9 pre 4?
Since there's no information about this whatsoever on any of the pages concerning the portal, I've decided to ask myself. If you were to break a block from the End Portal Frame in 1.9 pre release 4, would you be able to pick it up and place it where you like? Mybabypetghast 04:48, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- I don't believe so. Ender portal frames work just like they do in pre3, just with a reskin. --HexZyle 05:14, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Recreation
Can a working end portal be 100 % player manufactured using the portal blocks and ender eyes with the aid of an inventory mod such as too many items?--BTH 05:42, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- I have been experimenting by giving myself block 120 using NBTedit in creative mode. You can create portals, if you construct them following a certain set of rules.
- I am going to add this information and a bit more that I discovered while testing.74.192.10.38 09:09, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
first image is incorrect
I've noticed that the first image in the gallery of a 1.9 pre4 portal is not constructed correctly, and was likely built by a player who hacked the portal blocks into their inventory. Genuine portals are all built with the portal frame blocks oriented so that the blue decorative lines on the upper face point perpendicular to the row of portal blocks. The portal depicted would fail to activate if the player put the final Eye of Ender in any of the frame blocks on the sides. Perhaps a new image should be added? 165.91.45.184 07:37, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- Upon closer inspection, I agree. It appears as if he has constructed the entire room using jeb's video for reference. --HexZyle 21:23, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- Also, the schematics are incorrect. I'll have to see if i can rotate the sprites in Template:BlockSprite --HexZyle 21:26, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
Seed
Anyone have a seed for a big stronghold with an ender portal in it? (WHIT directions?)
- Make a creative world and keep throwing Eyes of Ender to find one yourself. --Saphireking65 15:12, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
per world
Is there only ever one end portal in a world, or can there be multiples? --76.24.104.23 05:39, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
Silk Touch?
Can the End Portal Blocks (the ones you insert eyes into) bbe picked up using Silk Touch enchantment? 153.107.33.154 01:46, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
