We should find out of monsters can spawn in the loot rooms. If they can, this could cause un-called for explosions. --Fishrock123 (Talk)(c) 14:09, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

They can. I found pyramid with already exploded trap. I think, adding torches to generated room can help. — MiiNiPaaT|C 14:12, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Dang. We need to let Mojang know so that can be fixed. :/ --Fishrock123 (Talk)(c) 14:13, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Rename

I think this page should be renamed Desert Castle, as it is more like a castle than a pyramid, and for n00bs 'pyramids' would look more like Incan or Egyptian pyramids, not at all like this. From Moi, Ajc_1254 18:16, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

I don't see why they should stop being called pyramids, unless you want to rename creepers to hissy-exploding-thingy, and diamonds to super-rare-and-valuable-ore

KingFlameTail 18:21, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Does it look like a pyramid to you? Not to me. And you? Really, you have to be sarcastic like a douche about creepers and diamonds? That's not cool. Your making me sound like a spoiled brat who doesn't get his way. I'm just saying IT'S NOT A PYRAMID! It really is a castle with a pyramid style roof. Do you have the snapshot and have seen it, or are you a no-snapshot crybaby who is ripping on someone who just wants a rename for a good reason? From Moi, Ajc_1254 18:44, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Deep breaths there buddy. He was just trying to make a semi-humorous example. I don't think it was supposed to be at your expense at all. Back on to the topic at hand I do agree with Ajc 1254. It definitely does not look like a pyramid. It also is not mentioned by any of the developers as a pyramid. For now I think we should call it something less descriptive like "Desert/sand temple". We should also find someone to look through the source code to find out if they are named in the coding. --Moxxy 20:48, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, considering how a good portion of it is a pyramid, I believe that we could keep the name as-is. Also, pyramids can have other structures connected to it, as is the case with the Nubian pyramids. 50.136.155.163 23:31, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

the treasure is, uhhh, interesting?

when i found a pyramid, i tried to get the chests, and i did. but when i got them i got disappoint. the only loot it had was gold ingots, bones and rotten flesh. according to the wiki, it had an valuable loot, but bones rotten flesh and gold ingots aren't really valuable. or does it varies on world? 201.240.15.202 00:48, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Photo help

I was looking to put up a few pictures of some pyramid stuff I found and I don't know how. Can anyone help me? J.L.L. No account.

  • Go here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Special:Upload and upload your picture. Below, input the name of the picture and a description. Choose the license and then click the button at the bottom of the page. You'll be redirected to a page which is kinda like: "Are you sure you want to upload this picture with this description?", and then just proceed. The picture will be uploaded to the wiki. Now you have to put it on a page, so just put in "File:Picture Name|Picture description (doesn't have to be the desription you typed earlier)" on the page. Hope this helps! :) Matt.B. 17:26, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Jeb's "Desert Temple"

It does not matter what Jeb dubbed it, logic is more important than the game of who-said-what. If it truly is a temple, than the sloped sides and obvious chamber should be removed. Even if it's a "Desert Temple", a more fitting name such as "Ziggurat" should be used, as "Desert Temple" sounds silly, when you see that it truly is a Pyramid, or at the very least, a Ziggurat. May I also mension, the Pyramid itself seems to be based off of a Nubian Pyramid (another user mentioned this as well). Desert Temple is not a fitting name, as it very childishly describes the structure and what it could be.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nubian_pyramids

Jeb called it a desert temple, which makes that the official name. We use the official name for blocks, mobs, features, etc. since otherwise we end up with fighting over what we should call them (for example, in your comment, you point out two different possible names for this structure). If Jeb clarifies that the official name is, in fact, "pyramid" or "ziggurat" or something other than "desert temple", then we'll rename the article, but until then, "desert temple" is fine for the name. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 00:12, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

I realize your side of the argument, but "Desert temple" makes absolutely no sense at all. By 1.3, the name or structure should be different if it is to be a "Temple", otherwise a different selection of loot and layout may be needed for the name to accurate portray the structure itself. (On a personal note, "Desert temple" just isn't creative at all. No cookies for you, Mojang :/).

Obviosly you didn't read my 'Rename' section. It obviously isn't a pyramid. Ziggurat is much more acurate. I also don't like 'Desert Temple', but it's 1000x better than Pyramid. It should stay Desert Temple until we find out what their offical names are. From Moi, Ajc_1254 12:59, 29 May 2012 (UTC)P.S. The name Pyramid sucks! :P

The name "Pyramid" is fine. The stereotypical view of "Pyramid" are the ones at Giza, but as I mentioned, many structures under the name "Pyramid" are found throughout the world, that aren't always a triangular shape. If you really need to see the true shape, remove the towers and gaze upon it; it's truly a stereotypical pyramid without them. However, if this structure is any indication, Mojang is getting a lot better at their building design, and we may see an actual "Pyramid" structure one day. Now, I now believe "Ziggurat" isn't a perfect name for this, but it is much better than the unimaginative and totally inaccurate "Desert temple" (even "Desert Castle" is better than this, honestly). I guess "Pyramid" isn't the best name either, as the added towers do give the impression of something else. Again though, the word "Temple" should not be used in the name at all; this structure is neither large enough nor shows any sign of ever being used as a "Temple". If they truly wish to call it "Desert temple", they should remove the treasure chamber and add a Potion rack and Alchemy table, as it would be far more accurate to a technical temple than it's current state. So, if Jeb does not decide to rename it, I propose the name "Ziggurat" be used, as it's better accepted than Pyramid or Desert temple, a negotiated name, if you will. With that being said, I hope Jeb sees this or other discussion on the name, as I simply refuse to use the term "Desert temple"; it's unimaginative, it's inaccurate, and most importantly, it's very un-Minecrafty and un-videogamey (Like those words I made up? I like them too!). What I mean is, is that many structures or other, various things in Minecraft have had creative, or at least attemptive-creative names. A few seem very simple, yes, and could use more descriptive names (Villagers = Testificates? Nope, not bringing that flame war here xD), but nonetheless, they have (and many other games) had simple, one-word names that describe the entire subject very easily. Sorry for the long post, I just hate seeing creativity being overshadowed by production.

Desert Temple isn't videogamey or Minecrafty? We have "villages", "dungeons", "strongholds" and "abandoned mineshafts". Desert temple fits in just fine and is the term Jeb_ used. --Moxxy 21:58, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Disagreements About The Name

Well I think we should just go with whatever name Jeb comes up with for it. People always have different opinions about it. He can't make everyone happy. He's trying his best. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.176.233.25 (Talk) 17:58, 29 May 2012‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Merge?

I think we should merge desert and jungle temples into one article called "Temples" or something... Electrk 00:42, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
