How to safely defeat?[]
Does anyone know how to defeat a creeper without dying? --194.53.184.10 05:42, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
- The best way is to use a ranged weapon like a bow or crossbow, in my opinion. 4 full-charged shots will kill it. A bow with Power IV can kill a creeper in one shot.
- If you have only a melee weapon, you can charge through it and whack it once on the way past, and keep running far enough to deactivate the creeper's countdown. Do this 4 or 5 times until the creeper dies. If the creeper explodes while you're running away, you'll likely be far enough to avoid dying but you may still take damage. Eat some food to heal up if your food bar isn't full. ~ Amatulic (talk) 16:53, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Additionally, with a sharpness V netherite sword a creeper will die in two hits. I find myself running up the creeper, criting it once, then quickly hitting it normally. Although if you are playing hard mode a creeper will do massive damage, or just kill you. In those modes (Especially Hardcore) I recommend hitting the creeper with a power bow, then running up and delivering the final blow. 170.103.3.38 01:10, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
Notable?[]
Appearance > YouTube content YouTube hosts many videos that feature creepers, including review videos, "Let's Play"'s, cartoons, and cameos in many other videos. When searching for the query "Minecraft Creeper", YouTube returns a lot of videos.
Is this even notable? Couldn't you say this about literally any page on this wiki? -- DigiDuncan! (talk) 21:05, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
Spawning section needs expansion[]
Currently the Spawning section consists of one line: "Creepers naturally spawn in the Overworld on solid blocks with a light level of 7 or less."
There must be more to it than that! What other conditions make it more favorable for a creeper to spawn? How does a creeper's chance of spawning compare with other mobs? I see creepers more frequently in flat biomes than mountainous biomes, for example.
One survival game I played spawned me in a valley of flowers and creepers were the most common mob encountered; you could hardly turn around without seeing another one. Most of my time was spent killing them and repairing the damage they left. This made me suspect that something about that region caused creepers to spawn more frequently than other mobs. ~ Amatulic (talk) 00:39, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
I can't edit[]
I don't have an account, so when I noticed a very poorly written fact about The Simpsons, I wanted to remove it but I couldn't. The fact wasn't even relevant to the article. Could somebody remove it? --95.145.227.246 09:37, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
- I reworded the part a little bit now. I didn't remove it because that's the whole point about a Trivia section; to mention facts that don't have anything to so with the main topic. And yes, IPs do not have any permission do edit this page. ---- Elite hog (talk) 09:45, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
This is a typo?[]
14w11a -> Witches, zombies, skeletons, spiders, cave spiders, zombie pigmen and other creepers now run away from creepers. Uh, srsly, skeletons and spiders are creepers now? :D 217.107.106.131 14:11, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- I think it's saying that creepers will run away from other creepers, in addition to those other mobs. — Godslayerchickennugget (talk | contribs) 14:14, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, you're right 217.107.106.131 14:21, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) The "other" in the sentence is contrasting with the creeper they're running away from. The wording is a bit confusing though; the meaning is more clear if you think about it as "Creepers now run away from other creepers", but that wouldn't work because of all the other mobs this applies to. And it's weird to just say "Creepers run away from creepers." Hopefully that makes sense, but any suggestions for a reword would be appreciated.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 14:23, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
Wrong attack strength values[]
The correct values are:
Regular:
Easy: (1+2*7*3)/2+1 = 22.5
Normal: 1+2*7*3 = 43
Hard: (1+2*7*3)*1.5 = 64.5
Charged:
Easy: (1+2*7*6)/2+1 = 43.5
Normal: 1+2*7*6 = 85
Hard: (1+2*7*6)*1.5 = 127.5

- I was exactly inside the creeper, and couldn't observe any higher values. The damage formula (ignoring the damage scaling by the difficulty) can be seen in Explosion#Interaction_with_entities. (Some of the wrong damage values can be obtained by replacing the 7 with an 8 in the formula.) 91.38.98.15 01:24, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

- so this is the calculation and i get 85 damage for charged creepers((1 × 1 + 1) × 7 × power + 1 point of damage) but again, what about difficulty?---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 01:33, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, difficulty does 0.5x damage on easy and 1.5x damage on hard, your correct, i'm going to update the damages. Thanks for sharing! it's protected :( so you can't edit 😭 but why did you do /2 +1?---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 01:34, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- That's just how minecraft works (I found it in the code). For the easy difficulty, the damage is scaled like this: damage:=min(damage/2+1,damage) (which is the same as damage/2+1 for damage values greater than 2)91.38.98.15 01:50, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

Instant creeper explosion[]
https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/survival-mode/2937168-anyone-know-why-some-creepers-explode-instantly Wiki description of the reason why falling creepers explode earlier is wrong. The timer is directly reduced by fall damage, it has nothing to do with the time spent falling or with them starting their countdown early. 134.60.112.70 15:38, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

The creeper was added after the zombie and skeleton. However the version history incorrectly states all three were added in the same version.--80.189.14.42 02:09, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

I found a place for a creeper to add to the trivia section[]
- I found a place that also has a creeper in it. Look around at this link. CAPTHAhttps://studio.code.org/projects/public You will have to copy and paste it not with the CAPTCHA. Please add to the trivia because i can't edit it. 73.89.66.98 13:29, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Ignition[]
The player is not the only thing capable of igniting a creeper; apparently pufferfish melee will also trigger them: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/lgmc3y/i_found_a_way_to_ignite_creepers_automatically/
This should either be documented on this page as a unique quirk of the pufferfish, or we should discover what the actual rules are for what does or doesn't trigger a creeper. (Or possibly both, given that skeletons don't seem to anger them..) 75.76.16.129 13:39, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Plague Inc. Easter Egg[]
I saw it say at the top "Creeper Arrested for Blowing up Virtual Property" or something like that
im not sure about the exact text but its somethin like that
oh found it "Creeper executed for destruction of virtual property"

Why are most of the mob pages "View Source"? Some people Can't register their account. It should be free to everyone. Ioallse-oldccvedcewd 21:52, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
- No, pages should be free to anyone serious enough to contribute improvements. Unregistered / unconfirmed accounts have not been constructive on the Creeper article, so it is protected so only more experienced editors can make changes. Anyone who cannot register or cannot edit is always free to propose improvements on the talk page. Amatulic (talk) 23:13, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
Just coming in! But what if the people on the talk reject that user? That user can't do anything. Its A Super Cool Guy (talk) 01:28, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
- That's how a wiki works. If a new/anonyous user unilaterally makes a change that violates the wiki's policies or guidelines, especially after being advised against it by more experienced editors, then that user had no business editing in the first place. When that happens, pages get protected and accounts get blocked. Which is where we are now. Those who cannot edit this article must propose changes on the talk page, period. There is no other way. If the proposal is rejected after reasoned discussion, then move on. Amatulic (talk) 05:16, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
Ok, I'm also saying that like those disruptive edits can be reverted quickly by anyone (usually a moderator). Like page Mud said Water Bottles can be used on dirt to make mud, but some guy changed it to MUD CAN BE PUT IN YOUR MOUTH AND THEN YOUR SHOE WITH THE BEST WHIP CREAM EVER YEAH, it shows up in Recent Activity and then it gets reverted. Its A Super Cool Guy (talk) 07:55, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
- At some point the disruption becomes frequent enough that it's more practical to protect the article than to cause wasted time for other editors cleaning up someone's intentional mess over and over again. Amatulic (talk) 08:10, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
That person can be blocked from the wiki though, and it can be infinite, right? Its A Super Cool Guy (talk) 08:19, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
- If disruption is coming from multiple users, or one person with a shifting IP address, then protecting the article is the best way to ensure stability. That is how this article got protected. If there's only one troublemaker, then blocking that user solves the problem. The preference is to keep the articles open to all so anyone can edit them. Unfortunately, that isn't possible for some articles. Amatulic (talk) 14:10, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
wp:Singular they[]

Maybe you could change themselves to himself or herself. (Themself might also work but just in case you still want singular they.) 104.162.135.168 21:43, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- I changed it so it's less awkward. I personally don't like the singular "they", and one can usually find ways to avoid it. Amatulic (talk) 04:45, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
The secret origin of creepers[]
So if you watch game theory you might know what the ancient builders are and that they like cats and they might have created creepers but why are creepers scared of cats? Why are creepers scared of them? The second video explains how creepers might work. Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6Med6Z8-9g and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bMnIzW7WCg
