Difference between /tp and /teleport[]

Is there an actual different between the two commands, still? Because I didn't think so from 1.13. If they're the same, why do they have separate pages? The hatnote at the top of the page does the opposite of explaining the situation.  Nixinova T  C  20:42, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

"This article is about the /tp command before 1.13" that's what the hatnote says, this is a "historical article" just like any remove feature article. FVbico (talk) 20:44, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
But why tho? This page shouldn't be about the historical /tp as /tp is still in-game and noone uses /teleport. The pages also doesn't explicitly state the difference in usage between the two (I know /tp was relative to the player and /teleport was relative to the cmd block but that's not really helping me fix these pages) so I can't easily merge the two. /teleport should be merged into here and redirect to /tp with all the historical information in History.  Nixinova T  C  03:25, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
If I do just that there wouldn't be any information lost, right?  Nixinova T  C  03:29, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Making this page a disambiguation[]

I'm sorry that I edited this page[1] without discussing. You know, there're two different commands:

  • /tp before 17w45a without 16w21b
  • /tp in 16w21b = /tp since Java Edition 17w45a = /teleport since Java Edition 1.10-pre1 = /tp and /teleport in Bedrock Edition

So I created a page Commands/tp/Before Java Edition 17w45a to split them. And take this page as a disambiguation (not /teleport because /teleport is the main command and /tp is an alias).

If you think it is inappropriate, feel free to edit it.--Chixvv (talk) 11:02, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Turn this page back into a redirect[]

Currently, this page is a disambiguation that only refers to two things: The up to date /tp and the outdated one. In my opinion, this disambiguation violates MCW:UPTODATE, as we should only be having information up to date by the latest release (1.20.2). In this case, as documenting the teleport command before 1.13 should stay in a history section or a subpage (which it is). The greatest problem is the {{Command}} template, where many pages, like tutorials subpages use the template, for example, like /tp ~ ~3 ~ or something like that, where clicking on such tp link brings to this disambiguation page rather than the right page. This violates exactly what {{Disambiguation}} and Wikipedia's style guide where internal links should try to avoid pointing to disambig pages and instead their intended page. In this case, I say that to follow MCW:UPTODATE where articles should generally be up to date, we should replace this disambiguation with a redirect to Commands/teleport. For those who want to see the old teleport command system, we can change the existing hatnote to directly link to the commands page documenting the command before 1.13 snapshots, or at least link to it above the history templates in the history section, like Bartering.
