The tree crosscut texture is visible from the bottom, so it isn't unused

Can we get a better visual on the cactus hallway?

Do they sometimes give 2 blocks anymore? I broke mine for probably about 5 minutes, and they never broke into 2.

They've never given 2 blocks. –ultradude25 (T|C) 17:21, 6 November 2010 (CDT)

Does the cactus grow if mined then re-planted?

>I've tried making two separate pieces grow, one of them with a watersource close by, for more than an hour. Nothing have happened. This WAS in a winter environment, but under a glass roof, though.

Picture needs to be updated

This image (Media:Cactus.png) needs to be updated to the new Cactus graphics. I'd do it myself but I don't know how it's actually made. If it's just a screenshot in MC edited in Photoshop, I can do that. –ultradude25 (T|C) 08:28, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Taken care of. Dissident 20:30, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Can someone remove the cross-hair? --Katnipz 23:27, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
I didn't bother because I thought it would be a pain; didn't know the crosshair just inverted the colors. Also done. Dissident 03:13, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. Could I ask though, how do you make it? Is it just cut out with Photoshop? –ultradude25 (T|C) 06:42, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I used the polygonal lasso since everything has nice hard edges and cut out the cactus. Then you magic wand the crosshair and invert (ctrl + I), and that's it. Dissident 15:50, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks again. :) –ultradude25 (T|C) 01:36, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

I found a 4-5 block tall cactus in a desert biome

Do they grow that big now? I have a cactus farm that's growing, and I see if I get any that grow big. Captain Crazy 15:46, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

I have also noticed this. http://imgur.com/szp56.png Nbord
I'm pretty sure they can generate bigger than you can grow them, like reeds. –ultradude25 (T|C) 10:13, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Damage bug

Is anyone else getting this bug when they touch Cacti? –ultradude25 (T|C) 17:21, 6 November 2010 (CDT)

That's not a bug, cacti really do hurt! -- Scrapz
SIGH.... The fact that they are damaging isn't the bug! It's the way they are damaging, they shouldn't be hurting me 100 times a second which results in it spamming the hurt sound and spazzing the screen out. –ultradude25 (T|C) 21:23, 7 November 2010 (CST)

Snow Map

Since snow maps no longer exist and cactus don't generate in snow biomes, should we take out the part about the snow stopping growth? --GLaDOSexe 15:31, 7 November 2010 (CST)

You can still plant a cactus in a snow biome, right? I haven't tried, but I'd imagine it'd have the same effect -- Scrapz
Since snow biomes dont regenerate snow unlike snow maps its no longer relevant --MLegion 11:17, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Cactus floor? Impossible?

The article mentions about using cactus as a floor: This is also true if the cactus forms a floor: both players and mobs take half a heart of damage when they walk on a cactus block. This makes it useful for traps, such as a hallway with a cactus block floor, which will quickly kill any mobs that walk on it.

But later on, it also says that cacti can only be placed on sand or other cactus blocks with no horizontally or vertically adjacent blocks. If we can't place cactus adjacent to another block, then we can't make cactus floor (unless it's a checkerboard of deep holes and cactus).

Is this from an older Alpha version? Should that text be updated or removed? --CrazyTerabyte 02:49, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Yup. I've read somewhere where we used to be able to place them in a row. It was later updated this way to prevent abuse, I think. --Scykei 02:07, 14 November 2010 (CST)

You can make a floor, just put some water on the floor and then replace water blocks with cactus, I have tested this in SMP. --TK009 17:18, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Cactus Growth/Timing

Anyone know if the cactus growth speed is random? or is it a set time?
I rigged up 3 cacti to trigger pressure plates when they "cut themseves" timed how long it took for all plates to be activated. It took 10 minutes +30 seconds worth of cactus being pushed along water to the plates.
Its a better alternative if your want a mutch longer timer, and you dont want to fill up your server with redstone pulsers.

Spider Climbing

Is it possible for spiders to climb cactus? It seems unlikely, but I want to be sure. Cub326 00:34, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
