Splittable?
Can a Lapis Lazuli block be crafted back into 9 dyes like the metal and diamond blocks, or is it permanent? Either way it's probably worth mentioning in the page. Yomikoma 23:56, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes, they do act like the metal and diamond blocks, so one block equals 9 dyes. --Master7432
Rarity?
It says that they may be rarer than Diamonds. They certainly are rare (I've only found 4 on my new file), but has anyone tried actually coming up with a figure per chunk? Rougeweasel 05:24, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I think there are around 0.049383-0.074074 per chunk. Simplified to 3 decimal places, 0.049-0.074 per chunk. Average, that's about 0.06 per chunk. Diamond is found in 0.08% of a chunk under layer 16. Lapis is found under level 32. This makes Diamond 1.5 times as rare as Lapis!

- Lapis Lazuli is a bit more common than diamond now with the abandoned mines. They are deep enough for you to find lapis ore but not diamonds in the walls of the mines (at least the mines im in). Also lapis is found more commonly in chests. In my recent 1.8 game I found enough lapis to wall the ceiling of my house with 10 blocks of labis lazuli blocks but i have yet to find a single diamond.
My official number for rarity is 1.25x rarity of diamond(+- 3% [between 1.287X and 1.2125X). I used a random chunk generated on 200 random seeds (yes 200 different worlds) i study statistics so i assume that i am near correct if anyone gets a number above 3x or below 0.1x tell me. anything between these two numbers is normal
Breakable?
When you break Lapis Lazuli blocks do you get them back? Or do they break like glass and give you nothing? --Modred11 20:16, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Trivia: Only mineral not used in tools?
In the trivia section it says that lapis is the only mineral that can be turned into a block that isn't used in tools, but isn't that ignoring glowstone? Maybe reword it to say that it's alone in the fact that it can only be crafted into a block(or other dyes). --Indy 00:42, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
