Hopper?

The snapshot includes an image of a block of coal over a hopper over a furnace. Anybody try setting this up to see if it does anything? I thought it might just be a gag - or maybe he's just showing some of the new features (although why the furnace?). --71.230.125.76 18:05, 2 May 2013 (UTC) (Kahless61)

Furnace? Because Block of Coal can be used as a fuel. --mgr 18:19, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
That makes sense. So basically he's telling us "put the block in a furnace". --71.230.125.76 20:02, 2 May 2013 (UTC) (Kahless61)

Wasting coal when smelting coal block?

One coal can smelt 8 items, coal block can smelt 64 items, but it's crafted using 9 coals. But using 9 coal gives us 72 smelted items (theoretically). What's wrong? 176.108.3.131 19:40, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

One coal block can smelt 72 items, not 64. --GreenStone(cont) 19:42, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
I've included a note about stack size in the furnace on the page now. Since you can only stick 64 items in at a time, not 72, that's probably where the confusion came from. If you restock it, however (and clear out the output before it fills up), you can use the last 8 smelts. If there's any delay between when it finishes the first stack and when you add more items, it only smelts 7 (or fewer) additional items (71). Anyway, you get the point. --71.230.125.76 20:12, 2 May 2013 (UTC) (Kahless61)
Things to remember: Hoppers can fill stacks as they get smelted, giving 100% efficiency to fuels that smelt more than 64. Funky3000 22:30, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
[13w18c] I was able to cook 80 potatoes from one block of coal (used a hopper to feed them in). I also tried the same setup with 9 pieces of coal for fuel, and only got 72 baked potatoes out of it. --MuttJunior 08:34, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
You're right. The value was changed in 13w18c from 72 items to 80. --mgr 09:47, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Explain

Could please someone explain me what is wrong, if you write down in trivia section that coal block existed in Minecraft 2.0?86.58.59.249 17:53, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
