Buff Effects

Shouldn't there be a section outlineing/discussing each of the powers the beacon gives? 70.139.60.8 19:35, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

All the effects in the game (not just beacon-provided ones) are described at status effect; I added a link there to the page. -- Orthotope 02:05, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

A view of the Sky

Does this require just open space above the beacon, or do you need open space above the pyramid as well? For example, could I build a working pyramid underground as long as I dig a vertical shaft to the surface above the pyramid (possibly topped with a glass block)? 00zau 21:04, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Just the beacon. Kanegasi C 21:05, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Nether beacon

Page indicates that beacons work in the nether, so long as there are only transparent/natural blocks.

My experience is that they won't turn on if there is bedrock above them. (1.7.2) Which means not having them unless you either use creative mode to take out bedrock, or contrive to get on top of it.

Hacking beacons for any status effect?

I heard on reddit that beacons can be hacked with MCEdit or similar to give all status effects, is that true? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.102.253.130 (talk) 17:25, 17 April 2014(UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

According to Chunk format#Tile Entity Format, it looks like it's possible to make them give any status effect, though no more than two at a time. -- Orthotopetalk 18:34, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
The NBTs Primary:{} and Secondary:{} can help you. maybe /blockdata can help you? JorianPruim (talk) 20:10, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Cant get Beaconator achievement

I built a Beacon, yet I don't recieve Beaconator achievement. What?--50.43.19.208 00:34, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

You have to place it in your world on top of a pyramid before you get the achievement. You only need one layer for the pyramid (3x3 area of blocks) 67.166.112.4 23:11, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Does This Effect Animals/Entities?

Pretty self-explanatory, and, if it doesn't effect animals/entities, does it effect entities the player is riding?

e.g. I ride a horse/pig/minecart, if I have a beacon, with the effect "Speed", does the horse/pig/minecart go faster?

--Blehmann1 (talk) 22:18, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Only players are affected by the beacon. 50.141.212.168 19:51, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

pyramid material

is it possible to make a working beacon pyramid out of obsidian?71.28.226.107

No. Unless you hack the game. If you just want to do this for visual effect, you could build a working pyramid and add a layer of obsidian to cover the outside. 67.166.112.4 23:14, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

The texture for this update is only 16x16, and as such you can't see it very well. New render please? - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 18:34, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Hollow pyramid

I have constructed A hollow pyramid. Just the outside boundaries and a solid top level and the beacon still activates!!! So you dont require that much raw materials.

Yes, it works but the beacon recognizes the top layer of the pyramid only. You still can activate effects level 1 but none above. | violine1101(Talk) 10:35, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Discovery

Beacons can't be crafted with stained glass.--SuperMonkey2 (talk) 00:41, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Does the article say you can craft it with stained glass? No? That means it can only be crafted with normal glass. We don't describe features that don't exist, nor require users to infer the information from the article, we just list the actual information. KnightMiner t/c 01:02, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
