Striders are the only passive mobs that spawn in the Nether. They can be used to move on lava.
Spawning
Striders spawn in the Nether on lava at or below y-level 31. A spawn attempt is made every 1. They have a baby variant that sometimes spawns on the head of an adult. Sometimes zombified piglins spawn on striders, and if that is the case they will spawn saddled. The baby Strider on the adult Strider will grow; however, it will not dismount the adult strider.
Drops
Adult striders drop 0-5 string upon death. The maximum amount is increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0-8 with Looting III.
If a player equips them with a saddle, they will also drop it upon death. If they spawned wearing a saddle, the saddle has an 8.5% chance to drop, increased by 1% per level of Looting.
When killed by a player or tamed wolf, 1–2 experience is dropped.
Behavior
Strider start shaking unless they are in lava.
Unlike most mobs, striders can walk on lava. If the strider has the Speed effect applied to it, it will only move faster in lava.
Striders can also walk on other mobs as if they are solid blocks. Small mobs will cause striders to step up as if they were walking on stairs or slabs.
Striders are damaged by water and rain.
Striders start shaking unless they are in lava, but it doesn't cause them to take damage. They will also move much slower when out of lava.[1]
If a zombified piglin is riding a strider, the strider will pursue the player if the zombified piglin is attacked.
Riding

The player can ride on an adult strider using a saddle, and can attach them to leads. Similar to how pigs are controlled using a carrot on a stick, striders are controlled using a warped fungus on a stick. They will also follow players holding a warped fungus or a warped fungus on a stick.
Breeding
If striders are given warped fungus, they enter love mode and pair off to create baby striders, granting the player 1-7 experience orbs. The parent striders have a cooldown of 5 minutes before they can breed again. All babies obtained by breeding take 20 minutes to grow up. The growth of baby striders can be slowly accelerated using warped fungus; each use takes 10% off of the remaining time to grow up.
