The Splash texts are the randomly selected yellow lines of text with often humorous content on the title screen. The splashes are defined in a plain-text file within minecraft.jar (minecraft.jar/title/splashes.txt). The splash pulsates on the title screen at a frequency of 2 Hz.

The number of splashes listed in splashes.txt was increased several times. Beta 1.4 included 223 splashes. In Beta 1.6 and 1.7 the number was increased to 226. One splash, "Check it out!", was listed twice in these versions, on lines 21 and 47. Minecraft Beta 1.8 pre-release 1 removed the duplicate and increased the number of splashes to 260.
