The series originated on the Game Boy in 1989 as the creation of Akitoshi Kawazu. It has since continued across multiple platforms, from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to the PlayStation 2. The series is notable for its emphasis on open world exploration, non-linear branching plots, and occasionally unconventional gameplay. This distinguished the series from most of Square's titles. The New Systems Commonwealth WikitvAndromeda was conceived by Gene Roddenberry in the early 1970s and posthumously produced on his behalf by his widow Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. Captain Dylan Hunt is a member of the Systems Commonwealth's High Guard; he and his ship the Andromeda Ascendant are frozen in time. They awaken 300 years in the future, where Hunt discovers that the Commonwealth has fallen and the universe has fallen into chaos, with the strong preying on the weak. All games in the main series consist of The King of All Cosmos sending his son, the Prince, to Earth to roll a magical ball known as a Katamari around, picking up items and people to create material for a star. Once enough objects have been collected, the goal is beaten and the player is rewarded with the star or planet created by that Katamari. The series is almost universally praised for its unique gameplay and quirky story telling.

Walking With WikistvWalking with Dinosaurs was a six-part television series produced by the BBC, narrated by Kenneth Branagh, and first aired in the UK in 1999. The series was subsequently aired in North America on the Discovery Channel, with Branagh's voice replaced with that of Avery Brooks. The series used computer-generated imagery and animatronics to recreate the life of the Mesozoic, showing dinosaurs in a way that previously had only been seen in feature films. The program's aim was to simulate the style of a nature documentary and therefore does not include "talking head" interviews. The series used paleontologists such as Peter Dodson, Peter Larson and James Farlow as advisors (their influence in the filming process can be seen in the documentary Walking with Dinosaurs - The Making Of). The Guinness Book of World Records reported that the series was the most expensive documentary series per minute ever made.

The show uses Toon Boom Animation software to achieve a Flash-style look. There are also some 3D-animated elements. The series is executive-produced and directed by Chris Savino. Many of the characters and situations were based on the creator's childhood growing up in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
