The Soul Sand Valley is a biome located in the Nether. It consists of a large cavern with nether fossils and many different blocks.
Description
The soul sand valley, featuring a ghast, soul soils and basalt pillars.
The soul sand valley is a large grotto that cuts through the Nether's terrain. There are ravines, expansive lava oceans and tall basalt pillars. The biome itself is made up of soul sand and soul soil, with scattered soul fire, crimson roots and nether fossils[JE only], and the occasional nether fortress. Its fog is light blue and the air particles are grey.
The mobs that may spawn in a soul sand valley are skeletons, ghasts, and endermen. If a nether fortress generates in the biome, blazes, magma cubes, and wither skeletons may spawn as well. If a lava sea generates in a soul sand valley striders may spawn as well.
This specific combination of terrain and mobs makes the soul sand valley one of the most difficult biomes for survival. Ghasts spawn frequently, and along with the skeletons, they may overwhelm the player with their projectiles. Unless the player wears boots enchanted with Soul Speed, walking on the soul sand will make it even harder to dodge the arrows and fireballs. Both soul sand and soul soil will create soul fire instead of normal fire, meaning the aftermath of the ghast's fire balls is more dangerous than normal. The soul sand valley is similar to volcanic ash deposit: probably this biome is theoretically linked to the basalt deltas which would also be of volcanic origin.
