Sniffer is an ancient passive animal that digs ancient seeds out of the ground and loves to sniff
Spawning
Currently, sniffers can only be spawned using a spawn egg or using commands.
Drops
When killed, sniffers drop:
- 1–3 experience points, if killed by a player or tamed wolf.
- 10% chance of dropping a moss block if killed by a player or tamed wolf. Looting increases the chance by 2% per level, for a maximum of 16% with Looting III.
Behavior
Sniffers wander aimlessly, avoiding hazards and obstacles. Occasionally smell their surroundings and track seeds by pressing their nose to the ground and when they find a seed, they drop to the ground and use their noses to dig the ground until they get a torchflower seeds.
Breeding
The player can feed the sniffers using torchflower seeds, when feeding them the adult sniffers go into love mode and breed to create a snifflet. Parents have a five minute cooldown before they can breed again.
Snifflets
Snifflets in Bedrock Edition have a bigger heads than in Java Edition.

- ↑ "When getting to know the final form of the sniffer, the first step is to ready yourself for an adventure. You’re going to have to set out into the Overworld and start searching. Sniffer eggs can be found in suspicious sand, which also contains other objects like pottery shards. Once you’ve unearthed your egg, it’s time to help it hatch! I implore you to pay close attention to this part of the process, because you have not lived until you have seen a snifflet burst out of its shell.
When your snifflet is born and you’ve stopped cooing over how cute it is, it will grow up into a sniffer. This mob is not only huge, but also helpful. Being a bit of a botanist, it will sniff out seeds that used to exist when they first roamed the Overworld! You can plant them to fill your game with the new unique decorative plants." – Minecraft.net
