Rabbits or Bunnies are passive (with one rare exception) mobs. They spawn in many different biomes and, unlike most other mobs, hop around instead of walk.

Spawning

Rabbits naturally spawn in plains, extreme hills, forest, taiga, swamp, jungle, birch forest, roofed forest, cold taiga, mega taiga, and savanna biomes. They may also be spawned in Creative mode with the use of its spawn egg.

There is a 1 in 1000 chance that the Killer Bunny will spawn instead of a normal rabbit.[1]

Behavior

Rabbits are moderately fast, hopping around aimlessly. They will approach players holding carrots, and will turn to look at players from a much farther distance than other mobs.

Rabbits will find and destroy mature carrot crops, requiring that your carrots be surrounded by fencing in biomes where rabbits spawn.

Wolves will track down and kill any rabbits. Most rabbits will quickly run away from all nearby wolves. Tamed wolves will not give chase, however, unless you were to hit the rabbit first.

Breeding

Rabbits can be bred with the use of carrots, golden carrots, or dandelions, but only carrots will cause rabbits to follow the player. If you used carrots for breeding, the rabbits will continue to follow the player and ignore being under the breeding effect as long as you are holding a carrot. Select another item to hold, or an empty hand, and the rabbits will path to each other and mate. Baby rabbits will have the same type of fur as the first of the two parents you fed (typically, the one from which it spawns). Baby rabbits will grow up after 20 minutes.

The growth of baby rabbits can be slowly accelerated using carrots. Each use takes 10% off the remaining time to grow up.

Rabbits will prefer to follow a player holding carrots over breeding. Thus, when breeding using carrots, the player should change to a different item to allow the rabbits to breed.

Variations

Rabbit Types

All types of natural bunnies.

Rabbits will typically spawn using one of 6 different skins.[2] Skins include regular brown fur, black mottled fur, white fur with red eyes (Albino), black & white spotted fur, salt & pepper fur, and gold (cream) fur.

Additionally, there are 2 rare variants:

The Killer Bunny

Killer Bunny

The Killer Bunny as of Minecraft 1.8.

The Killer Bunny is a rare variant of the rabbit that is hostile to all players. Its fur is pure white with blood-red eyes that are horizontal, compared to a normal rabbit's vertical eyes.

If the Killer Bunny finds any player within a 15 block radius, it will hop very quickly towards the player, much faster than a normal rabbit. It moves in a style similar to that of a spider. Once it closes in, it will lunge at the player, dealing a fair amount of damage. If the player strikes at the Killer Bunny, it will run away for a brief moment, then return to lunging at the player.

If it cannot find a player, the Killer Bunny will actively seek out and attack any wolves as well, including tamed dogs. These wolves will, in turn, attack the Killer Bunny, leading to a vicious fight. Therefore, when fighting the Killer Bunny, it is wise to bring several wolves along with you, whether or not they are tame, as they will help you with defeating this rabbit.

On peaceful difficulty, the Killer Bunny will not despawn, regardless of its hostile nature. It will still attack wolves and pet dogs, however.

File:Toast Bunny.png

The rabbit named "Toast."

Toast

Toast is a rabbit obtained by naming another rabbit "Toast" using either a name tag or a named spawn egg. Toast is textured like a black dutch, with a large black & white patch and more black fur around the face than the natural black & white spotted rabbit. Other than its name and skin, Toast behaves exactly like a normal rabbit.

This rabbit is the skin of reddit user xyzen420's girlfriend's missing rabbit, which Ryan Holtz implemented as a memorial. [3]

Data values

When using the /summon command to spawn a rabbit, the NBT value RabbitType will determine which variation to use. For example the Killer Bunny can also be summoned with the command /summon Rabbit ~ ~ ~ {RabbitType:99}. Likewise, a baby Killer Bunny can be spawned by typing /summon Rabbit ~ ~ ~ {RabbitType:99,Age:(negative number)}.

Variation ID
Brown 0
White 1
Black 2
Black & White 3
Gold 4
Salt & Pepper 5
The Killer Bunny 99

Toast does not seem to have a data value. It must be summoned using /summon Rabbit ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:Toast,CustomNameVisible:1}

Drops

Rabbits have three drops. They drop rabbit hides, raw rabbit, and rarely a rabbit's foot. Therefore, rabbits are currently the only natural source of ingredients for a Potion of Leaping.

If they die while on fire, they will drop cooked rabbit instead of raw rabbit.

May 19, 2009Bunnies were originally an idea for a mob in Survival Test. They would spawn randomly and jump around. When attacked, they would pop into many pieces and start bleeding.
May 20, 2009Bunnies were ultimately not added at the time due to negative feedback.

A minecart with chest is a single chest inside a minecart, and functions as such.

Natural generation
Minecarts with chests containing loot naturally generate in mineshafts, each on top of a piece of rail.

Obtaining
Crafting
Minecarts with chests can be retrieved by attacking them. By doing so it drops as an item and any other contents of the chest are dropped as well.

Usage
Minecarts with chests can be placed by on any type of rail.

Chest minecarts' contents can be accessed by pressing use item button on them. The interaction makes no sounds and the chest does not show the opening or closing animation, unlike regular chests.

The boost that minecarts with chests gain from powered rails is dependent on their load. For example, from a 1 powered rail starter track, an empty minecart with chest travels 64 blocks, but a full minecart with chest travels only 16 blocks (opposed to 80 blocks for an occupied normal minecart and 8 blocks for an empty normal minecart).

Another physical property of chest minecarts is their ability to be stacked. While three chests can fit in an area three blocks tall, up to four chest minecarts can fit in the same area. Like other minecarts, an unlimited number of minecarts with chests can exist in the same block space.

Minecarts with chests are also able to interact with hoppers. Hoppers can take items out from the minecart chest if they are below the track as the minecart rolls over it or put them in if the minecart rolls under a downward facing hopper. Hoppers can also input items if they are facing into the side of the minecart.

Opening or destroying a minecart with chest angers piglins.

Tutorials/Storage minecarts

When on top of detector rails, nearby redstone comparators will give out redstone signals based on how full the minecarts with chests are.

A minecart with TNT is a block of TNT inside a minecart. Unlike normal TNT it can detonate instantly under certain conditions and its damage and blast radius is increased by its speed when it detonates.

Obtaining
Crafting
Minecarts with TNT can be retrieved by attacking them, and by doing so it drops as an item.

Usage
A minecart with TNT detonates after a delay on these conditions:
* It moves over a powered activator rail.
* It is destroyed while in motion (except by a player in Creative mode).
* It is destroyed by fire, lava, or an explosion.
*java, it is hit by a fire charge.

The delay is 4 seconds for an activator rail, like the TNT block. For other causes there is a random delay between 0 and 1.9 seconds, but more likely to be close to 1.

It detonates instantly on these conditions:

* It hits the ground with a downward velocity of it falling more than three blocks, unless landing on any form of rail.
* It turns on a curved track too fast, with a solid block or entity located beside the track (in the previous movement direction).
* It is hit by a flaming arrow.
* It is pressed into a block or entity and has velocity.

Upon detonation it acts as normal TNT, exploding and damaging nearby blocks, players, and entities. Upon detonation after activating on activator rail, it does not destroy its rails and the blocks the rail is on, however other nearby carts can.java More than one minecart can be placed on the same rail block, allowing many of them to fit into a single block. They explode when touched, dealing large amounts of damage.

The explosion has a base power of 4, the same as regular TNT, but the game also adds a random bonus value up to 1.5 times velocity, but no higher than 7.5. This means that with a speed of 5 or higher the power will be a random value between 4 and 11.5. When triggered by an activator rail or by damage, the bonus value is calculated using the horizontal velocity of the minecart. When hit by a flaming arrow the velocity of the arrow is used instead. When triggered by fall damage, the fall distance divided by 10 is used.

Minecarts with TNT bounce off of other minecarts and cannot be linked to minecarts with furnaces.

Trivia

 • Rabbits can possibly be fed dandelions because Ryan Holtz fed a rabbit dandelion leaves while mini-golfing.[4]
 • It is impossible to have an upside down Toast rabbit, since having an upside down rabbit requires that the rabbit be named Dinnerbone or Grumm, instead of Toast.
 • The Killer Bunny is a reference to the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog from the British comedy film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
 • The Killer Bunny was suggested by Twitter user @88bully[5]
 • If you rename the Killer Rabbit to Toast, it will still be hostile while appearing to be passive.
