This page is about upcoming features for Minecraft Pocket Edition that have been announced by Mojang employees.

  • Buckets, milk, cake,[3] and eggs[4]
    • Chickens will drop eggs (Eggs will work the same way as on the PC version)[5]
  • Online multiplayer[6][7]
    • Realized through Pocket Realms, part of the upcoming Minecraft Realms feature[8]
    • Initially there will be a handful of beta testers to try out the system for free before it is released to the rest of the public
    • Previewed at MineCon 2012
    • Usernames[9]
    • Will require a Mojang account
    • Buy servers through the AppStore and Play store as in-app purchases[8]
  • Revamped UI with new main menu, with Play and Options section [10][11]
    • In the Play section you will able to play in your world locally or online, or by joining a Pocket Realm server (you have to be invited by the host, to join in the server)
    • The Option section there are four subsections[12]
      • Game
        • Ingame username, difficulty, 3rd person view, D-pad size & local server multiplayer
      • Controls
        • Sensitivity, invert Y-axis, lefty, play with touch, split controls, vibrate when destroying blocks
      • Graphics
        • Render distance, fancy graphics, beautiful skies, animated water,
        • Experimental graphics
          • Smooth lighting
      • Sound
        • Volume
Bug Fixes:
  • PE-131 - Dyes sometimes show up as wrong color in hand.
  • PE-173 - No water animation in some iOS devices that can handle.
  • PE-381 - Bows aren't destroyed after taking maximum damage.
  • PE-404 - Can't enter seed on T-mobile G2
  • PE-1212 - Torch placement is incorrect
  • PE-1296 - Breaking a door destroys or duplicates it.
  • PE-1366 - Crash when TNT blows up Paintings.
  • PE-1896 - Cannot see what seed is being entered.

Planned features, items, and blocks

Feature Description
Camera implementation[13] At the Minecraft Pocket Edition panel at MineCon 2012, as well as one of Jbernhardsson's livestreams, it was stated that future plans include trying to have a proper use for cameras, perhaps an easier way to take screenshots and share them with others.
Infinite worlds[13] At the Minecraft Pocket Edition panel at MineCon 2012, it was stated that future plans include trying to implement infinite worlds.
Redstone[13] At the Minecraft Pocket Edition panel at MineCon 2012, it was stated that future plans include implementing redstone.
Sky additions[14] Jbernhardsson tweeted that the changes to the sky in 0.6.0 were only the first iteration, and he has plans to implement more features like sunrise/sunset and stars (to bring it closer to the PC version).
Customizable skins[15] Jbernhardsson tweeted, in response to a question, that customizable skins may be available in the distant future.
Caves[16] Jeb stated that caves may be available as an option the user can toggle in later updates.
Replacement of the Nether Reactor[17] Johan mentioned on the issue tracker that the Nether Reactor may be replaced in the future. However, if the Nether does get implemented, it will most likely be next year because of preparations for the Beta Release.
Foods [18] Johan mentioned on the Live Stream "Minecraft Pocket Edition MCO Beta" that in a future it will be added more foods. For 0.7.0 it will be added a new food recipe: Cake
Breeding [18] Johan answered a question that Breeding will be added in a no-distant future (possibly this year)
Endermen [18] Johan mentioned in the Live Stream Minecraft MCO Beta that Enderman will be added soon.
In-Game Music [18] Johan (Livestream) answered in a question that In-Game Music will be added for the next 4-5 updates more.
Enchanting [18] Johan said in the Live Stream Minecraft MCO Beta "I think we will get that in the future", its planned but he isnt sure if he can implement Enchanting.
