Crafting Table
This article describes content that may be included in a future update.
This content has appeared in development versions, but the full update containing it has not been released yet.

The Nether Star is the drop of the Wither, the boss of the Nether, and it will be essential to craft the Beacon Block in the future. It is not a renewable item, since Wither can only be spawned by placing Soul Sand (which isn't renewable) in a T shape and placing three Wither Skeleton Heads on top.

Use

The only use of the Nether star is that can be used as a crafting ingredient to craft the Beacon block.

The Smarter Watch was a joke offhand item.

Usage
Smarter watches were "equipped" by having them placed into the offhand slot. Upon equipping, they would display the current time above the hotbar, in minutes and seconds, with one minute of in-game time being 5/6 of a real-time second, and one in-game hour being 5/6 of a real-time minute or 50 seconds.

The smarter watch would also notify the player of statistics milestones, alongside taken damage, item specific info, crafting items and more. What exactly?

Added Nether Star as the drop of Wither

Trivia

 • It's the counterpart of the Dragon Egg, since both are dropped by a boss of a dimension.
 • The Nether star is the second boss drop introduced, after the Dragon Egg
 • Unlike the Dragon Egg, the Nether star is not useless, since it can be used to craft the Beacon Block.
 • Looks like it has two textures: the purple one File:Grid Old Nether star.png, a whole light purple star; and the bright one File:Grid Nether Star.png, a pale yellow and very light green star. However, the real texture is the bright one, but the blur of the star makes it purple.
 • The Nether Star makes the Beacon very hard to craft. First you need 10 blocks of obsidian and Flint and Steel, Fire Charge or Lava to create the portal. Then, you need to find Soul Sand and Skulls to spawn the Wither. And finally you need to kill the Wither; plus, you need 3 obsidian blocks and 5 glass more to craft the Beacon.
 • The Nether and the Wither resemble darkness and colors like red and black. Interestingly, the Nether Star is bright and has colors like green and yellow.
