A moss block is a natural decorative block.

Obtaining

Moss blocks can be mined using any tool or by hand, but an axe is the fastest way to break it.

Moss blocks can currently only be obtained from the creative inventory or by use of commands. It is planned to naturally generate within lush cave biomes.

Using bone meal on a moss block causes nearby dirt, sand, gravel, stone, granite, andesite, and diorite to be converted to moss blocks.

Behavior

Plants such as grass and flowers can be planted on top of moss blocks. While saplings can also be planted on moss blocks, they will never grow into trees no matter how much bone meal is used on the plant or how many ticks pass, allowing the sapling to remain as it is indefinitely. Sugar cane and bamboo cannot be placed on Moss Blocks.

Using bone meal on moss blocks causes grass, moss carpets, azaleas, and flowering azaleas to grow.

Composting

Placing moss block into a composter has a 65% chance of raising the compost level by 1.
