Mooshrooms are unique variations of cows.
Spawning
Mooshrooms spawn on mycelium blocks in mushroom island biomes in herds of 4 to 8. They do not spawn in any other biome.
Baby mooshroom
If a pair of mooshrooms are given wheat, they will breed.
Feeding wheat to a baby mooshroom will speed up its growing time by 10% of the remaining time. Baby mooshrooms have no mushrooms on them but will grow them
Drops
Mooshrooms drop 0–2 leather and 1–3 raw beef (1–3 steak if killed while on fire). Shearing one will drop 5 red mushrooms and turn the mooshroom into a normal cow, emitting an explosion particle. When you shear the mooshroom cow, the mushrooms can't grow back. Mooshrooms also drop 1–3 experience when killed by a player or tamed wolf.
Besides giving milk, mooshrooms can be milked with bowls to give mushroom stew.
Behavior
Mooshrooms tend to walk around slowly and aimlessly, huffing and mooing occasionally. They will avoid danger such as cliffs, fire or lava, but will make no attempt to stay out of water.
A mooshroom will follow players holding wheat.
Mooshrooms are 1.4 blocks tall, and baby mooshrooms are 0.7 blocks tall.
Data values
Mooshrooms have entity data associated with them that contain various properties of the mob. Their entity ID is MushroomCow.

Trivia
- The name "Mooshroom" is a portmanteau for "moo" (which itself is an onomatopoeia of a cow's sound) and "mushroom".
- In Console Edition, mooshroms and cows have different spawn limits. This means if the player has reached their cow limit, they cannot shear a mooshroom, and will get a error message when trying.
