IndustrialCraft Fuel is another source of energy and the only way to power the Jetpack. Crafting either form of fuel is a multi-step process.
"Fossil" Fuel
Fuel made from a base of Coal is considered the equivalent of fossil fuels in IndustrialCraft. It is more powerful than "green" fuel.
Hydrated Coal Dust
Hydrated Coal Dust is the way to begin to "liquidize" Coal Dust. Unfortunately this crafting method is very laborious because Water Buckets cannot be stacked and must be refilled.
- Crafting:
Materials: 1× Coal Dust, 1× Water Bucket
Produces: 1× Hydrated Coal Dust
Template:Grid2/Crafting Table
or
Materials: 8× Coal Dusts, 1× Water Bucket
Produces: 8× Hydrated Coal Dust
Template:Grid2/Crafting Table
- Recipes:
Hydrated Coal Dust is used to make Compressed hyd. Coalclump.
- Notes:
- -These recipes do not consume the Bucket
Compressed hyd. Coalclump
The Compressed hyd Coalclump is the next step on the way to Fuel.
- Crafting:
Place Hyd. Coaldust into the Compressor.
- Recipes:
The Compressed hyd. Coalclump is used to make Clumpy Fuel.
Clumpy Fuel
Clumpy Fuel is the step before Fuel.
- Crafting:
Materials: 5× Tin, 3× Compressed hyd. Coalclump
Produces: 1× Clumpy Fuel
Template:Grid2/Crafting Table
- Recipes:
Clumpy Fuel is used to make Fuel.
- Notes:
- -The creators advise that mixing compressed plantclumps and compressed coalclumps to make hybrid fuel is theoretically possible, but may end in disaster, tears, or both.
Fuel
Fuel is useful as a source of Fuel for furnaces, crafting Single-Use Batteries, and fueling the Jetpack.
- Crafting:
Place Clumpy Fuel into the Extractor.
- Recipes:
Fuel is used to make Single-Use Batteries and fueling the Jetpack.

- Any mentions of a so-called 'Super Fuel' are just malicious lies spread by alchemists, have absolutely no basis in fact, and cannot be crafted by mere mortals, not even by treating refined fuel with glowstone above, redstone below and/or explosive components either side.
"Green" Fuel
Bio Fuel is made from a base of plant materials (Saplings, Cactus, or Sugar Cane) and is considered the "green" alternative to Coal-based Fuels in IndustrialCraft. It is less powerful than Fuel, but uses renewable resources, and therefore is a sustainable source of Fuel.
Plantclump
The Plantclump is the start of the process to craft Bio Fuel. It is easier to craft than Hydrated Coal Dust.
- Crafting:
Materials: 8× Saplings, Sugar Cane or Cactus
Produces: 1× Plantclump
Template:Grid2/Crafting Table
- Recipes:
The Plantclump is used to make Compressed Plantclump.
- Notes:
Plant material cannot be mixed; i.e. 4× Sapling + 4× Cactus will not work. However, all Plantclumps are the same regardless of the materials used in their creation.
Compressed Plantclump
The Compressed Plantclump is the next step on the way to Bio Fuel.
- Crafting:
Place Plantclumps into the Compressor.
- Recipes:
- The Compressed Plantclump is used to make Clumpy Bio Fuel.
Clumpy Bio Fuel
Clumpy Bio Fuel is the step before Bio Fuel.
- Crafting:
Materials: 5× Tin, 3× Compressed Plantclump
Produces: 1× Clumpy Bio Fuel
Template:Grid2/Crafting Table
- Recipes:
- Clumpy Bio Fuel is used to make Bio Fuel.
Bio Fuel
Bio Fuel is a less powerful alternative to Fuel.
- Crafting:
Place Clumpy Bio Fuel into the Extractor
- Recipes:
- Bio Fuel can be used in Furnaces, for crafting Single-Use Batteries, and fueling the Jetpack.
- Notes: As Bio Fuel is less powerful than Fossil Fuel, twice as much must be used when refuelling the Jetpack.
- Energy carried: 24000 EU
