Cite note labels

Can an administrator create the page MediaWiki:Cite link label group-note to basically be the same as wikipedia:MediaWiki:Cite link label group-lower-alpha? This would allow notes to appear as "a, b, c, etc." instead of "note 1, note 2, note 3, etc.", which would read better and be more compact. We really do not need the rest of the groups used by Wikipedia here here (we only have at most one group of notes per section), and "note" is the group we use for all our notes, so it makes sense to apply the labels there.

Also, is there an official usage of this page? (as opposed to the main noticeboard) I tend to think of this page as a place to discuss an idea that requires administrative attention, rather than an issue to report, though I feel the official usage may be different.

Also, to allow the list style to display the "a, b, c, etc.", I would need the following code in MediaWiki:Common.css to correspond to a class to be added to the template. The code is similar to some code from wikipedia:MediaWiki:Common.css.
/* Enable custom list style types in [[Template:Notelist]] */
div.notelist ol.references {
    list-style-type: inherit;
}

So... KnightMiner · (t) 15:05, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
I dunno. Note is good because it makes it obviously different from references. You could use n if you want it to be short.
Also this page is intended to be used for discussing a request on the main page, but no one uses it for that because it's inconvenient. MajrTalk

Link Templates

I changed the template "EnvLink" so that it doesn't use Lua, but functions exactly the same. I would like same for {{BlockSprite}}, {{ItemSprite}}, and {{EntitySprite}}[1], but these templates are protected so that only administrators (which I am not) can edit them.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by Contrapple (talkcontribs) at 23:07, 23 March 2015 (UTC). {{EnvSprite}} still uses lua, so all you did was break some usage and make it less efficient, and not using lua is usually not really an advantage ({{SimpleGrid}} was an exception, since {{grid}} could not be used in that case due to too many invoke calls, which was fixed by {{ :Renewable resource/row}}) KnightMiner · (t) 23:33, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Wiki updated, unable to view while logged in

My name is Exhelah, and I can no longer view the Minecraft wiki when logged in. As soon as I sign in all I see is a 10 pixel box that's half white and half gray. I believe this to be a problem with my custom CSS file in correlation to recent wiki updates (my CSS is designed to hide a bunch of stuff on the top bar that no longer exists). And since I cannot even look at the wiki while logged in I can't put a deletion tag on the page. Can an admin please delete my CSS to see if it fixes the problem? Thanks! -98.202.119.245 23:20, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Should be fixed, you may want to update to the latest version from User:Majr/hydra.css. -- Orthotopetalk 00:04, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Thank you. All fixed now! I'll go and check out Majr's thing. - Exhelah t - c 21:57, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Modules

I notice that there is no "Show preview" button in the module namespace, meaning that unregistered users can't edit them, even if they are not protected. Can an administrator change this? 67.160.25.176 22:48, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

Create an account. –LauraFi - talk 23:37, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
I mean a way to do it without logging in. I plan to create an account in the future, but I don't currently have email. 71.212.10.80 01:52, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Stating administrator request policy

I think it might be relevant to state our policy reguarding administrative rights on the director's page, seeing as it is the page we have to describe administrators. It would be nice to have the "we come to you" policy stated somewhere mainly for both the users curious about that who would never ask otherwise and for the users who would otherwise request due to not knowing that policy. What I have in mind is simply adding the sentence "Administrative rights are given to users based on them making exceptional contributions to the wiki, rather then by request.", with a possible additional note "An exception is on other languages of the Minecraft Wiki which have few or no admins, in which case a request is likely to be accepted" KnightMiner · (t) 02:54, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

I think it is a good idea to prominently display the administrator policy. In addition, displaying it on the Admin noticeboard as well wouldn't hurt either. GoandgooTalk

Changing username

How do I change my username? MinecraftImageEditior (talk) 14:59, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Via a report to Curse administrators, for example at User talk:Game widow (the lead Curse representative’s talk page). Although she may notice you wanting this anyway, because I linked to her user page, which triggers a mention notification for the linked user. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 15:14, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I noticed. The best way to change your username is to go through http://support.curse.com. They can ensure that your username is changed everywhere on the Curse network. After that, if we still need to tweak anything, I would be happy to assist — Game widow (talk) 16:41, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Minecraft Developement Vresion

I noticed that the Minecraft developement versions on the Minecraft Wiki page have not been updated, so I tried to do it and it was locked and the talk page said my action is harmfull so I'm posting it here. -- Dordesukalo (talk) 23:27, 27 October 2015 (UTC +1)

AWB

Is there some sort of rule/guideline/policy for using AutoWikiBrowser? If I was to use it, it would only be for fixing spelling errors. 1234Iloveguns (talk) 22:52, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Help

Hello! I'm from Russian Minecraft Wiki (http://minecraft-ru.gamepedia.com/Заглавная_страница), and we have some problems with translating of "Frosted ice". Can you help us? What is mean Frosted. Is it frozen, cooled or frostbitten? Ivanlosew (talk) 11:28, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

I'd say frozen or cooled is similar, but frost is really its own word (and all ice is frozen :P). Here's the simple English Wikipedia article on frost and here's the English Wikipedia article. Wikipedia seems to have translated it to "Иней". --Pokechu22 (talk) 14:14, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Oh, really, thanks! Thank you for help ;) Ivanlosew (talk) 15:11, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Hello. The “Frost” Pokechu22 was referencing doesn’t form on water, so it can be ignored as unrelated. “Frosted Ice” may sound like it was ice itself that was cooled, not water.
Actually the most authoritative sources for explaining names of game’s objects are Mojang developers themselves, because it is they who made these names.
Also learn how to indent comments. I fixed that. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 15:21, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Thai translation

Hello! I'm from Thailand. I have the question to admin, Can you unlock this Template:Items/th? (I have to translate this template for use in the others Thai translate pages) Is that true that to not translate templates? - Prem4826 (talk) 02:14, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Hello! I’m not an administrator, but I can reply. The template was apparently deleted in accordance with the guideline that templates shouldn’t be translated, which is no longer in effect (so templates are allowed to be translated now). So, perhaps, an administrator could unprotect the page to allow translating it. I also split the question into a separate topic, because it was quite different from the discussion above this section. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 15:10, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
Generally, templates shouldn't be translated (they'll all be lost if the translation is successful), however I can see how translating a navbox can be useful. MajrTalk

Spam accounts

I don’t see any activity from many recent accounts blocked for “spam”, yet they are being blocked. I want to know why. I’m taking this up mainly because there is a suspiciously high amount of accounts registered on Russian Minecraft Wiki lately, and I suspect some of them are spam accounts, but we don’t know how to tell them apart. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 14:52, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Most are using the Curse profile for spam, which doesn't show up in any logs. I've been blanking the profiles to get rid of their ads for drugs and prostitutes, among other things. Some are caught by the abuse filter. -- Orthotopetalk 15:03, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
New info: GreenStone says that the profiles of suspicious accounts on Russian wiki are empty. Are they already being blanked by Curse by chance? — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 16:21, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
Many accounts are created and never make any edits. There's no way to know which ones are actually spammers until they (try to) make edits or create a profile; I'm not willing to block accounts just because they seem suspicious somehow. -- Orthotopetalk 00:26, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
Some new accounts that “haven’t done anything” apparently have 2 wiki points and Gamepedia level of two. This might be caused by editing the Curse profile. Perhaps this is an evidence of spam activity. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 15:08, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
No, this is caused by the achievement. On your wiki is it? If yes then how do you deal with fought? "Hired a sniper?" DimanWorld (talk) 15:38, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
