Current wiki news

  • Small note: All mentions of Mojang Specifications have been switched with "Mojang AB" as this is their current official title. For those wondering, AB means they're a joint-stock company.

Wanted pages

The Minecraft wiki is never finished, and new pages are added all the time. In case you'd like a certain page to be made and require help with this, please add onto this list.

  • A tutorial of adding projects, not the weird tutorial on the projects page that i don't understand (i'm new and don't know what a namespace is or how to create a new article there)
  • A link referring to the latest 'recommended' minecraft beta version and a download for it? (recommended)
  • Shooting Stars (These have been here for a long while. nobody ever noticed them. I have.)
  • Starter's guide - Some info (not overloading) for people who might browse here if they're confused. Teaches them about workbenches, tools, and coals, etc.
Is this necessary given the page of beginners' videos on minecraft.net, as well as the myriad of others on the rest of YouTube? (I apologise if this is the wrong place to comment on this.) -- Filosof 16:36, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
  • More game options help - What the difference between Fast and Fancy is; how far Render distance goes on each setting; what the framerate cap does and how each setting is used; advanced OpenGL... etc.
  • How to do complex redstone explained. All I get about the 'Advanced Redstone Logic is that it uses Restone: torches, wire, repeaters.
  • Templates and pictures Of Pixel art.

Other perennially useful pages

  • In case you need some help with editing pages, Wikipedia's "How to edit a page" article is a great source of information.

Requests for comment are for assisting editors in gathering further input on any wiki matter. This can be useful in generating discussion, resolving disputes, or reaching consensus. All editors are welcome to assist with a request by responding within the linked talk page. Remember that the Minecraft Wiki operates on a system of consensus rather than voting, and explaining your reasoning can generally be more helpful than simply supporting one side of a dispute.

To create a new request: add an item to the top of the list below, providing a brief, neutral summary of the issue and linking to an appropriate talk page section, without using alternative text for the link.

Requests for Comment

  • Is there a need for a Hungarian translation and subdomain? Add your comments.
  • We're looking in to some search improvements and need your discussion.
  • Please join the discussion about revising the Wiki rules.
  • Please look at an attempt at a "Meta Gaming" space to hold pages like Spleef, Chain World, Totem Quest, etc. There have been pages like this get deleted before, so this is an attempt to provide more content, and a better framework for it for the wiki. In particular, see the Competitions page, which would be an example of how we would deal with original (and potentially not very useful) meta gaming content. If any other users would like to add to this section, please feel free!
  • The items page could use a "planned" section just like on the blocks page
