Minecraft Wiki Admin noticeboard
Shortcuts

The admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post any discussions on the community portal talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here; instead, the page should be tagged for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.
  • For issues with filters preventing edits from being saved: filters are not able to be disabled for specific people. However, an admin may be able to perform the edit themselves for you. "New user" filters expire after you log in and make some edits around the wiki.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for speedy deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

If a user must be reported here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{vandal|Example user}} Your concise reason (e.g. vandalised past 4th warning). ~~~~ in the Block requests section.

If a protection or unprotection request must be requested here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{la|Example page}} '''duration (temporary or indefinite) and protection level''': Your concise reason (e.g. constant spam and vandalism). <nowiki>~~~~ in the Protection requests section.

Please post new topics at the bottom of the page by clicking the "add topic" button above.

I have made a page, and i would like it to be released. Here is a link: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Uploading_Earlier_Versions&action=submit

To make a page you need to click save page. That link only works if you have been editing it and is linked with save page or show preview. As such, the page cannot be put on the wiki and is lost. Afraid so, at least there is no such page right now, and no saved draft on the wiki. It is possible that your browser has a copy saved, especially if it's Firefox: You might possibly be able to get back to the edit page, by way of the "Recently Closed Tabs" menu (under "History"). (Or if you've actually kept the tab and browser open, by the "back" button.) --MentalMouse42 (talk) 23:17, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Aether

There is already an official Aether wiki here: aether.wikia.com/wiki/The_Aether_Wiki:_Genesis_of_the_Void Maybe the aether page on the Minecraft wiki should mention it, because it has a lot of information. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.173.14.157 (talk) 17:52, 27 November 2013‎(UTC). Yes, I came across this post while searching for vandalism. Yes, The aether information provided here is terrible. Yes, there IS a much better aether information wiki. But still, we should be giving the wiki and its contributors some slack. --BrandSPim (Need help?) 18:57, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
Well if you mean giving the Aether wiki's contributors some slack, that wouldn't really be a problem. I'm the owner of the Aether wiki and his idea would actually help out (if you need me to verify that I'm the owner, you can message me there and I will reply back. I have an owner usertag on my page). The Aether wiki's purpose is to help people who are confused with the mod, and mentioning it here would probably help anyone who's looking for more information. --Istolethepies (talk) 19:33, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
It would be nice if we could maintain full subtrees for major mods like the Aether, but I suspect we'd be competing with their own wiki for "labor" -- that is, most Aether fans will be putting their effort in over there, and few will be moved to duplicate their efforts over here. Given that, a mod's page certainly should have a prominent link to its own wiki. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 21:16, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
Link added to infobox. Most of the information here still dates to the first version of the mod, so it may make sense to direct people to the Aether wiki instead of trying to update everything. -- Orthotopetalk 21:39, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
Just so you know, the official site is here: www . gilded-games . com/aether/ The official wiki was the one I gave you. --Istolethepies (talk) 01:54, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

Cookie Page vandalized again, cannot remove

The person who vandalized the "Cookie" page, has vandalized it again, under a VPN or proxy of some sort. I was unable to remove this, because I am considered a "new user", which meant that I couldn't undo their changes. TomRBify (talk) 16:04, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

External-link filter false positive?

I tried to post something on the Talk page for Music discs, and it was blocked for containing "external links". There were no URLs in the post, nor any code at all. I'd paste the content of the post here, but obviously that would be blocked as well. Furthermore, I was already able to post external links in two other pages. Did it flag me as a spambot and just not correctly identify why I'm being blocked from posting? Stevethepocket (talk) 23:28, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

The YouTube link in the text above is erroneously catching your edit. If you use the "new section" feature, it should ignore other text. For some reason, the filter catches surrounding text when looking at added text. It's a known issue with the actual extension. Kanegasi C 23:31, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Posting a new page

Since I'm a new user, the filter detected my new page as unwanted and denied me permission to post it. I wanted to make a tutorial on The End since there aren't any fully detailed ones on the wiki. pastebin wPGVpziw contains the full text of what I wanted to post. Can an Admin give me permission to post this? Bwhodle (talk) 04:06, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

You've now made enough edits that you should be able to create the page without any problems. -- Orthotopetalk 04:20, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

I cannot post a page for my mod.

Hello. I cannot post my mod on here because I was denied permission to use external links. These links are only for the redirect to the official post for my mod.

Here is the error I received.

Cat CAPTCHA and external links

That "click on the cats" thing counts as an external link, which is not allowed for anyone not logged in. To be clear, this means no one can post if they're not logged in. The cats must be clicked, but they invalidate the post. Apparently this page is an exception. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.68.154.229 (talk) 07:31, 8 December 2013(UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

It does not count as an external link. The CAPTCHA has nothing to do with the abuse filters. Looking at your attempted edits, it's a minor glitch of data collected by the filter for an edit. I fixed the issue and you should be able to post now. Make sure to sign your talk page posts and next time don't spam admin talk pages especially when you already posted here. Kanegasi C 08:07, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Update of Tutorial blocked

Hey there,

I read Setting up a server and noticed that part of it is obsolete, so I tried to update it, section Running a 1.7.2 Server is the particular section I wanted to update. Although that section contains links to minecraft.net, so I'm not allowed to post the edit until an admin allows it. I'm not sure if I'll be returning to the wiki in the next few days, it would be great if an admin would post this. The edit I made can be found at pastebin: ZagPfPqf, Summary is: "/* Running a 1.7.2 Server */ Updated links and text to newest version; Removed Notepad++ reference (works with N++ just fine); Replaced line about cracked clients with authentication notice; removed obsolete direct links to the .jar files" Thanks! Cheet4h (talk) 07:13, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

The link that was catching you was an external screenshot link for this picture. On top of that though, your third attempt posting here was erroneously caught, which I fixed. I performed the edit for you though as well as changing out that screenshot link. Kanegasi C 10:23, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Problem with Tutorials/Traps

On some "diagrams" it says red error text saying "Maximum number of loops have been performed". What does this mean and how can it be fixed? --BrandSPim (Need help?) 15:30, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

It's a limitation of how the BlockGrid template works. The best solution is converting them to use {{Schematic}} instead. Larger ones may need to be moved to subpages and dynamically loaded to avoid over-stressing the server. -- Orthotopetalk 23:03, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Collapsible table css polish

LoadBoxes and collapsible tables add a [show] link to the title text:

LoadBox

View at: Pulse circuit/pulse divider [edit]

The link added to the loadbox has margin-left: 10px, nicely spacing it away from the title text (though maybe 1em would scale better?), but the table link doesn't have anything. Could a little margin/padding/spacing be added to the table's link?

munin · Grid Book and Quill Grid Stone Pickaxe · 06:03, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

The table links have margin in the form of a set width which is larger than the text, so it doesn't change size and cause centered text to move. The loadbox used to have load/collapse/expand as its text, so a set width wasn't practical, thus it used margin. Now that it just uses show/hide it can be changed to use a set width like the tables. "…a set width which is larger than the text…" – that will give different results for different fonts (some will have no spacing, some will have lots). Hmm. I think it needs to be at least 4em to ensure wider fonts (e.g., Courier, Monaco, Verdana) still get some space.
munin · Grid Book and Quill Grid Stone Pickaxe · 08:31, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Hmm... I expected ems to scale by font width, for some reason. Setting it larger would mean there is a big gap (for me the gap is already about 10px) on some fonts, so I'll probably have to just set a margin then set min-width with JS to stop the wiggling. That'll be fine since the button can only exist with JS anyway. MattTalk

Excellent. Nice spacing in many fonts from Arial Narrow to Verdana, and the link doesn't move around when it changes. Thanks!
