Minecraft Wiki Admin noticeboard
Shortcuts

The admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post any discussions on the community portal talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here; instead, the page should be tagged for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.
  • For issues with filters preventing edits from being saved: filters are not able to be disabled for specific people. However, an admin may be able to perform the edit themselves for you. "New user" filters expire after you log in and make some edits around the wiki.

Table of slscool

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for speedy deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

If a user must be reported here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{vandal|Example user}} Your concise reason (e.g. vandalised past 4th warning). ~~~~ in the Block requests section.

If a protection or unprotection request must be requested here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{la|Example page}} '''duration (temporary or indefinite) and protection level''': Your concise reason (e.g. constant spam and vandalism). <nowiki>~~~~ in the Protection requests section.

Why do I get blocked?

Last night I was editing the parity issue list, I was adding some important things, it took me about an hour. When I was done and hit save, it didn't let me. Some network error popped up. Now I tried it again, this time I only edited one single line and hit save, it didn't work again, and I received the following warning:

Your action has been disallowed by an automated edit filter. A brief description of the matched rule(s) for your action is: [SOAP] Spam prevention

I wasn't "spamming", I was just trying to add important things that were missing from that page. I would like to know why this happens and how I can continue editing without getting this warning. Hobbylos1 (talk) 12:13, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

Short answer: you attempted to add a link to the forked wiki, which is against the Forking Policy.
Full answer: I assume "this time I only edited one single line" is referring to the line starting with "Player's hand and held." However, in your attempted edits, you also touched the line three lines down (the one starting with "Players have an animation"). I'm guessing you copied that line, or maybe the entire General or Animations section, and pasted it on this wiki. However, for whatever reason, this changed the link in that line: it replaced the link in the reference tag (the Minecraft Feedback link) with a link to the reference tag (what happens when you click the little [feedback 1] in the article). Those URLs, by default, take the URL of the current article and append "cite_note-x" to it. Since you were copying text from the forked wiki, that URL was a link to the forked wiki. The AbuseFilter does not allow links to the forked wiki. SLScool 00:04, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

When you get blocked and it says account creation disabled does that mean you can't have a Minecraft wiki account. it will say some thing like this (anonymous users only, account creation disabled) 73.89.66.98 21:09, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

It means you cannot create a new account while blocked.  Nixinova T  C   21:28, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

My autopatrol candidates, 5 Jan 2021

I keep running across these users while patrolling article edits, and I think they should have the autopatrol bit enabled:

  • RondiMarco (talkcontribslogsblock log) - highly active user, mostly maintenance edits, and at the moment seems to be the most experienced user that I keep having to mark edits as patrolled (several dozen in a matter of days), no bad edits that I can see.
  • The Non Useful (talkcontribslogsblock log) - most activity is adding interlanguage wiki links to articles, but there's occasional content edits and vandal reversion, all good.
  • Goro488 (talkcontribslogsblock log) - highly prolific file categorizer.
  • Dlljs (talkcontribslogsblock log) - been around a while, constructive, I recall having to revert him a couple of times but no more than I've been reverted myself by others.

I'd rather not see these users keep appearing in my watchlist when I'm looking for vandal unpatrolled edits. Please give them the autopatrol right. Amatulic (talk) 16:21, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Strong support, although I am not a patroller yet, I see these users in my watchlist often, and granting autopatrol to these users would be very helpful P.S. Dlljs is female btwBlockofnetherite Talk Contributions 17:07, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
I think they called Dlljs a male for a reason, though i am not gonna say it. But i do think that Goro488 definitely deserves it the most because of their file uploading. James Haydon (talk) 17:11, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
Added autopatrol to all of them, I have seen them enough as well to have given them the right without discussing, honestly, but it just never popped into my mind. Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 19:30, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

User:JEC6789 and mcw:Patrollers

Can you give the right? JEC6789 seems to be the person who does the most edits in Special:RecentChanges, 95% of which are vandal reverts. at least between 6:00 PM and 1:00 AM (UTC) I don't get why the right was not given to JEC6789 but was given to NineTreyBlud and TheGreatSpring. They mostly use the undo option but briefly, they used popups.Humiebee (talk) 00:23, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

RevDelete 1 revision on page Ender Dragon by User:Hypixel Network

Ender Dragon (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs) by Hypixel Network (talk • contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log) Contains vulgar content and personal attacks on Jeb and MojangHumiebee (talk) 15:07, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

I don't think that one edit qualifies for RevisionDeletion; it's just one brief and harmless attack that I doubt would qualify as "Extremely vile vandalism" or "Grossly insulting, degrading, or offensive material." If it were a death threat or something it would be another story, but this is likely not something worth hiding. --Madminecrafter12 (talk) 15:14, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

My autopatrol candidates, 25 Jan 2021

I nominate these editors to get the autopatrol user right, so I don't have to see them and keep patrolling their edits in my watchlist of unpatrolled edits:

Pinging Dhranios - All of these editors have been editing this wiki for over a year, and I haven't seen any problems with their edits. Amatulic (talk) 17:45, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

"Due to a bug in the Reverb system, pings currently do not work" is what the talk page guidelines says, so pinging them might not have any effect. James Haydon (talk) 18:34, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Even if it did, it wouldn't do anything; I already watch this page, as all admins should. Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 18:36, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Also NexaForX (talkcontribslogsblock log) would also make a good autopatrol considering that they often revert vandalism and sometimes make constructive edits. James Haydon (talk) 18:37, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Not sure if these 2 should get autopatrol as they are a bit new but
Humiebee (talk) 18:41, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Defintely not Judah since most of their edits are on talk pages and the ones that arent contain speculation. Most of Shaughns edits are on their user space so they arent contributing to the wiki all that well. I would give some time and see if they actually become constructive to the wiki first before giving autopatrol. James Haydon (talk) 18:46, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
200% agreed with NineTreyBlud, I checked their last 100 edits, and almost all of them were in their own userspace. Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 10:57, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
I'd like to see some more non-minor edits from PJronq before I give them autopatrol. Most of there edits seem to be chained minor edits on the same page. Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 10:57, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
Either way, I strongly support Delibirda, AlienAgent124 and NexaForX receiving Autopatrol as it is difficult having to patrol all their completely constructive edits and their edits seem to be generally constructive throughout. James Haydon (talk) 18:41, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
Me too, I looked at the contributions of MikhailMCraft and they are mostly vandal reverts.Humiebee (talk) 20:35, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

No user pages

The user pages do not work for me. They display the message "This user has not filled out their profile page yet." Even MarkusRost's and Game widow's user page says that! My friend Sebastian7227 is gone too and he used to have a good one. Is this happening because of the migration? Do I have to log in to view the user pages? 73.89.66.98 18:36, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

As a logged in user, this is also happening to me, so logging in doesn't change anything. I can only view my user page, but it looks nowhere near as good as some others. Hopefully they will resolve this, unless its a new permanent change. James Haydon (talk) 18:40, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Ok. That would be annoying if only the user can view their own. I though user pages were supposed to have stuff you like about minecraft and things you want to show about it and other minecraft things. Now is it a personal sandbox? idk, I hope they fix this(unless this is permanent).73.89.66.98 18:45, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
You cant even view their revision diffs (which I must see as a patroller) and the page history. The only way you can view them is through the visual editor, though that is most likely unintentional. James Haydon (talk) 18:48, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Yes I looked at your user page in source editor and it showed. PS.(Cool face, that must have taken a while). 73.89.66.98 18:52, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Yeah this is so annoying. I want to notify editors when I am active but since we can't view user pages, no one knows. UCP is the worst.Humiebee (talk) 18:54, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
I found that face on some vandalized page, and I thought it would be a cool novelty to put on my user page. But yea, considering you can still access the editor on them leads me to believe this was a unintentional bug/glitch and that it will get fixed. James Haydon (talk) 18:55, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

No. All user pages can't be seen except for your own user page. TheGreatSpring (talk) 22:10, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Removal of Obsolete Section

I received the following message: "Error: Your action has been disallowed by an automated edit filter. A brief description of the matched rule(s) for your action is: You are attempting to remove a section of this page. As a new user, your action has been disallowed. If you believe your edit was constructive, please post a message on the admin noticeboard or notify an admin directly."

I'd like to remove the section entitled "Limits in Bedrock Edition" in the Altitude article, as its content otherwise adds nothing to the content already discussed in the section entitled "Features and effects by height"; its length was only around 100 words. Previously, there was some new information, but I copied this over to "Features and effects by height".

On a side note, I moved some bug-related info from "Features and effects by height" to the section entitled "History" in accordance with the Minecraft Wiki style guide, but couldn't get the sentences to show for some unknown reason. I've left a comment with this bug-related info in the source code for this section. Pearlia (talk) 09:58, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Blanking old user pages

I reverted Chungui23 (talkcontribslogsblock log)'s blanking of user pages with a note that it's better simply to tag it with {{inactive}}. In response, he left me a rather uncivil note on my talk page. The user has made some constructive edits but seems bent on vandalism today, replacing pages with obscenities.

What's the recommended practice for inactive users? In my view, a user page shouldn't be touched by anyone except maybe to tag it. Amatulic (talk) 22:00, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

I think the original goal of the blanking of user pages and replacing with {{InactiveUserpage}} was for user pages that both: belong to users who haven't edited in a very long time and are unlikely to soon, and also have multiple broken links that can't be easily fixed (to avoid cluttering maintenance categories). However, I've noticed users recently taking this to the extreme, by blanking the userpage of any user who hasn't edited in the last few months, regardless of there are actually any broken links or not. I personally would probably support using the template if the user hasn't edited for at least a year or two and the userpage contains like 3 or more broken links. Otherwise, I just think it does more harm than good. But this may be worth starting a community portal discussion over, since I feel like different users have a wide variety of criteria for which they consider userpages eligible for blanking/tagging. --Madminecrafter12 (talk) 22:36, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Well, if something happens in my life that takes me away from this wiki for a year or more, and then I decide it's time to return, I'd like my user page to be the way I left it... although speaking for myself, I'd likely put a message at the top before leaving for an extended time. User pages often contain useful information about the users and what they've done. If the information is old, then there should be some sort of banner at the top informing the reader of that fact, but it's still useful. I don't want to have to look at the page history to see what somebody other than the user decided to blank. Amatulic (talk) 22:55, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
This discussion has actually been had before in the past. This is the discussion I am referring to. James Haydon (talk) 19:49, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
Agreed, we should have proper guidelines around blanking and say that its only for old and broken pages.  Nixinova T  C   23:27, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
The most recent edit by Chungui23 (talkcontribslogs) blanked User:AndrewAB's page. Note that the page had 2 broken links. I also agree with Amatulic. In my opinion, pages should be blanked if
  1. If the person has not been active for more than 2 years or
  2. If the person's user page has at least two broken links.
  3. Exception: If the person does NOT want their user page to be blanked OR if they are still will recieve messages (like Dinoguy1000 (talkcontribslogs))
Any thoughts? Should there be any other requirements like if the person is blocked, etc?Humiebeetalk contribs 23:35, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
Btw the user who was blanking those user pages was blocked for 2 weeks due to a similar incident today. James Haydon (talk) 22:34, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Yea and there was another pro user named Faysalm098kh (talkcontribslogsblock log) that was blocked for vandalizing Dhranios' user page (yes a pro user actually did that). But because Chungui23 is blocked now, we will be unable to hear their side for quite some time, so we may just have to decide ourselves. James Haydon (talk) 23:15, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
As I understand it, "PRO" doesn't necessarily mean "experienced on the Minecraft Wiki". It's a designation bestowed by Gamepedia to any user who has been active for a short period on any of the gamepedia.com properties. I am skeptical that the designation makes any distinction between productive and harmful edits. If someone participates enough (even annoyingly) on The DOTA 2 Wiki to gain PRO status, that status carries over to here even if the user has very little background on this wiki. Amatulic (talk) 21:47, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
And to prove it, here's a PRO editor whose contribution history is basically that of a newbie: VILLAGER11041 (talkcontribslogsblock log). Amatulic (talk) 06:03, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
I think there is a bug where PRO is kept even if the person was inactive for more than 3 months. Proof - the 2 vandals listed above are inactive and Humiebees (talkcontribslogs)Humiebeetalk contribs 18:16, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Massive edit of Minecraft - Volume Beta article that isn't being allowed to go through

Hi, I just tried editing the article for Minecraft - Volume Beta, making some massive changes that I worked hard on for a few hours and that I really believe improved the article, and an error came up saying it contains an "unwanted word". I'm not sure if that means that it wrongfully detected a curse word were there wasn't one, or if it detected a word that breaks the enforced writing style of this wiki. Either way, can you please look through my edit? Here's a copy of it:

https://pastebin.com/JStMwd5v

Oh yeah, and here's the edit summary that I had for it:

"Added a lot to the descriptions of The End, Taswell, and 11. Partly reordered the list of tracks that can be heard in The End to more closely match the actual order that they appear. I plan on checking the track to make sure that all of the tracks listed are, in fact, in there. Also gave some general polishing, made some smaller, though still significant changes to the other descriptions, and added some new info and speculations. I plan on making further revisions to the descriptions."

Minor edit to the Trivia section of the Volume Beta article that was disallowed by an edit filter for containing an "unwanted word"

This is an extremely small change to the article, so it makes even less sense than the last time that an edit that I made was blocked.

Here's a copy of the Trivia section after my changes: https://pastebin.com/tf7mvJfs

Sprites are weird

After the migration, all sprites look all blurry. I was on my favorite page, Villager, when I saw that the sprites were just... well... here: SpritesAreWeird

It looks like the domain migration screwed up the coloring/compression on File:BlockCSS.png, so most of the sprites on {{BlockSprite}} and {{BlockLink}} look horrible now as a result. Someone will need to upload a new version of that file to fix everything – JEC talk @ 17:19, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
I'll give it a try if someone hasn't already. James Haydon (talk) 17:21, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Was already tried, this is not something a reupload can fix. Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 17:23, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay, then what would fix something like that? James Haydon (talk) 17:24, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Oh, actually, a few of them are indeed very bad, a reupload to fix, eg, colored terracotta would be good. But like, this is caused by the migration and how fandom manages images. Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 17:25, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay, or how about reupload all of them, I just prefer sprites being in the highest possible quality. James Haydon (talk) 17:29, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
FYI, images in general are all borked, they have a lot of artifacts as though they've been compressed. Even some of the ones added after the migration. Pescavelho (talk) 19:58, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

Edit Filter

I am not the most active user on here but my account isn't new. I deleted a whole sentence last month without any issues but now I want to delete a some irrelevant words in a table (looks like a formatting oversight) but now I get the message "Error: Your action has been disallowed by an automated edit filter. A brief description of the matched rule(s) for your action is: You are attempting to remove a section of this page. As a new user, your action has been disallowed. If you believe your edit was constructive, please post a message on the admin noticeboard or notify an admin directly."

I've had an account here from before the migration. Not sure why I can no longer contribute. Hypermetric (talk) 00:59, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

What part of the table? TheGreatSpring (talk | contribs) (Tagalog translation) 01:22, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@Hypermetric:, it is not about how old your account is, its how many edits you have made. Excluding this noticeboard edit, you only made 2 edits. New user means small amount of edits.Humiebeetalk contribs 01:47, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
I think you need at least 5 edits to be considered a trusted editor by the abuse filters, though I don't know for sure. Even with their edit here that's only 3 edits, so they will likely have to make 2 more so that the abuse filter doesn't prevent them from doing what they wanted to do. James Haydon (talk) 04:24, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the help. Hypermetric (talk) 05:45, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@NineTreyBlud: from my understanding of the underlying text what it classifies as a new user depends on how the filter is programmed. I'm assuming its using autoconfirmed as the cutoff point which is 10 edits and 4 days but its entirely possible for it to use a any arbitrary number. --Asarta (talk) 14:51, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
It using the autoconfimred status to consider a user trusted would make sense, but I definitely have seen abuse filters that only require 5 edits and don't have a minimum account age requirement. James Haydon (talk) 14:53, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Where did the anonymous IPs go??

I notice the recent changes log has zero edits from anonymous IP addresses since 1 April, a week ago. What happened? Is everyone required to create an account now? Amatulic (talk) 06:25, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Yes, that was apparently changed for some reason. I'll ask further. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 08:05, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
The wiki is flagged as if its founder marked it as intended for children, which (probably some COPPA thing) disables IP editing. This is unusual because Gamepedia wikis don't have "founders" in the meaning that variable uses (it's for Fandom wikis). Not clear on whether this was an intentional change or not, apparently there were internal issues with that variable in relation to the UCP migration. Three non-English Minecraft wikis are affected by the same issue (NL PT UK), the rest still have IP editing. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 08:46, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
This issue should be fixed now. The other three wikis aren't actually affected by the bug, they had IP editing intentionally disabled. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 11:56, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
Correcting myself + more details. The "intended for children as marked by founder" flag was an error and was never intended to be set for the GP Minecraft Wiki. The NL wiki has a different issue where the wiki requires email confirmation to edit, and the circumstances of that flag being enabled are unclear. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 12:24, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for following up. Indeed it seems fixed. Anonymous edits started appearing again today (four in recent changes). Amatulic (talk) 13:41, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
I think it was some issue that the Gamepedia wiki IP protection was temporarily influenced by the FANDOM one, why? 49.228.179.149 02:36, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
Also, the Dutch Minecraft Wiki IP protection has been removed, thanks. However, the two remaining wikis are still affected (Portuguese and Ukrainian). 49.228.179.59 01:49, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
I think it could be definitely harmful to the Portuguese wiki considering how active it is, but the Ukrainian one would have to worry that much, as it's barely active. James Haydon (talk) 03:16, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
I think their protection should be removed for both Portuguese and Ukrainian, because Gamepedia should not have wiki protection at all, although it uses the same as FANDOM protection system. 49.228.177.28 01:34, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes the only time we had to protect the site against IP's was on new years day when a troll vandal kept creating new IP's, and that was only meant to last for a single day. I have never seen any other need to have IP's barred from editing an entire wiki, unless said wiki has all of it's pages vandalized by them, which never has happened here. 1.17 Game events and related data tags.

In 20w49a a new "game event" system was introduced. Along with it a new tag group (tags/game_events) with a couple built-in tags. I feel like a new page should be created for game events and existing "tags"/"data pack" pages should be expanded to display this new game_events folder with the built-in tags. It's worth noting that the vibrations tag contains all possible events (at the time that snapshot changelog was written). I don't write wikis, so I'm hoping this gets picked up by somebody else.

Java Edition 1.18

Not sure if this should be posted here or in the community portal (is this an issue or discussion?) but should Java Edition 1.18 exist? Mojang said that there would be a summer release and a winter release. This may be like the Adventure Update as both releases are part of Caves & Cliffs. The 1.18 page makes sense but what do you put in it? Mojang put a line on what would be added in each update, mobs, blocks, geodes, and copper in the summer, world gen (crack carvers, noise caves, aquifers, mountains, height & depth limit) being in the winter. Another problem is that there is a lot of speculation and we don't even know if it will be called 1.18. It could be 1.17.x but this is unlikely (again, more speculation).Humiebeetalk contribs 19:15, 14 April 2021 (UTC) Update: Elaborated after watching the video again.
Also, where will archaeology go? 1.18? 1.19???????????????????????????????????????. 1.18.x?, Caves and Cliffs Part 3? This seems to be another problem, it needs to go somewhere but cannot be removed.
Another thing is the Warden. Oddly left out in the examples of mobs in the video, it just spawns in new world gen areas (deep dark) unlike goats (pre-existing mountains?), axolotls, and glow squids (oceans). The warden was not implemented in a dev version yet so we have yet another issue over placement.Humiebeetalk contribs 19:29, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

  • 1.17 mid 2021, 1.18 (confirmed) late 2021, archaeology not in caves & cliffs. That's what I understand is the current plan.  Nixinova T  C   00:51, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

I want to use the Crafting Template in the RLCraft wiki

I am trying to add more content to the RLCraft wiki but I am limited to taking screenshots of the crafting recipes from JEI. There are many drawbacks to this such as recipes that can accept multiple materials in a square cannot be represented accurately, as well as since these are just screenshots from my pc anyone else adding screenshots would likely be uploading pictures of a nonstandard size. I figured out this wiki did it with a template and tried to copy it but when I go to edit source to copy it, it says only autoconfirmed users can edit. I don't know what that is or how to get it. Here is a link from fandom itself saying copying a template is a perfectly normal thing to do. Please consider this as my request to be allowed to copy the Crafting Template and maybe others if I can figure out how to use it DreadedEntity (talk) 00:40, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Image compression

Ever since the migration, a lot of isometric renders, items, and images in general seem to have been compressed, as in, they have small little artifacts. You can notice this if you go on MSPaint for instance and try to use the bucket tool, it's not a "plain colour" anymore and has artifacts. I don't remember this being the case before the migration so I thought it was just a remnant of it, but it seems that recently uploaded images seem to have these same issues (I noticed this on the raw metal pages), does it have anything to do with Fandom? Pescavelho (talk) 15:44, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

That sounds to me like images that were stored in 16 million colors were reduced to 256 colors and dithered to simulate more colors. I've done that myself to some images of my own. Usually human eyes cannot tell the difference, but one can tell when trying a fill operation in a paint program. Amatulic (talk) 05:29, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
It's probably lossy WebP compression used in Fandom's image system to reduce file sizes for readers. Lossy WebP implies YCbCr color space (with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, which should also explain some artifacts). Though I think they told us they'll keep this disabled (at least for now) on Gamepedia wikis for these exact reasons (pixelated images)? --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 05:35, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Since the domain migration from gamepedia.com to fandom.com sprites were starting to become badly compressed thanks to (very) lossy WEBP. That has since been corrected through templates, but this can't really be done for images not coming from sprites. One can force the original image to be loaded by appending the URL parameter (?|&)format=original to the image URL. One thing I did notice is that Fandom's backend for original images is quite slow, slower than we've had when we were still with Gamepedia. For example, InvSprite.png loaded just fine on Gamepedia for me, while on Fandom it simply refuses often to load the last rows. DarkShadowTNT (talk) 06:20, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
I think that there some glitches on fandom and since gamepedia.com is owned by Fandom.com that some images might be compressed NOBUDOT (talk) 15:29, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
All images are compressed to lossy WEBP (having said that, SVGs appear to be the exception). This, thruth be told, makes for fast loading of pages, but the images suffer from quality degradation to the point that, without the ?format=original parameter, files like BlockCSS.png used as sprite (their intended way) become unusable. DarkShadowTNT (talk) 16:34, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

I think the compression is gone now cause the test worked NOBUDOT (talk) 15:48, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

The images still seem to be affected. Pescavelho (talk) 16:00, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
Give me examples NOBUDOT (talk)
You can go on any image (even recently uploaded ones) and there will still be some minor artifacts. Pescavelho (talk) 15:45, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Why did you close your account in the first place? If you wanted to have a new username you could have just used the user rename tool. James Haydon (talk) 20:16, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Seems like they closed it for an April Fools' joke, but they were actually still able to edit during the 30 day grace period and probably did not see the notice when you log in during the grace period (probably some glitch between Fandom and Gamepedia), which is probably why it gone unnoticed until it was permanently closed on May 1st, exactly 30 days later. – Unavailablehoax (talk) 22:04, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Why would they do that for April fools though? Pretty risky if you ask me. James Haydon (talk) 22:13, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

You really shouldn't blame them, if you look at their logs and contribs, they were still able to do everything a regular account can during the waiting period. It's probably a bug with UCP that doesn't show the notice on Gamepedia (closing your account is a Fandom feature). – Unavailablehoax (talk) 22:26, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
So there is supposed to be a notice that your account only has 30 days until it's closed? James Haydon (talk) 22:28, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
