The admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.
Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:
- This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post any discussions on the community portal talk page.
- Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
- Do not post deletion requests here; instead, the page should be tagged for deletion.
- Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
- Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
- For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.
- For issues with filters preventing edits from being saved: filters are not able to be disabled for specific people. However, an admin may be able to perform the edit themselves for you. "New user" filters expire after you log in and make some edits around the wiki.
In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for speedy deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.
If a user must be reported here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{vandal|Example user}} Your concise reason (e.g. vandalised past 4th warning). ~~~~ in the Block requests section.
If a protection or unprotection request must be requested here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{la|Example page}} '''duration (temporary or indefinite) and protection level''': Your concise reason (e.g. constant spam and vandalism). <nowiki>~~~~ in the Protection requests section.
Please post new topics at the bottom of the page by clicking the "add topic" button above.

Freeing up Version template
For:
- Module:Version/Numbers, Module:Version and
{{Version}}
... I'm going to make copied versions:
- Module:Version front page/Numbers, Module:Version front page and
{{Version front page}}
... to free up that whole thing from its cascade restriction – the same idea as previously with {{ItemSprite}}, discussed in this topic.
It won't solve the issue with people clamoring for someone to update the front page, but it will help for updating Minecraft, Pocket Edition, Console Edition and Minecraft launcher (and probably a few others). – Sealbudsman talk/contr 15:19, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- As an alternative to having two near-identical templates that have to be kept in sync, we could change the main page to directors-only protection. -- Orthotopetalk 17:59, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- We could do that. We could also eliminate the front-page-template entirely by embedding the respective variables in the front page, I think. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 19:16, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- Because the front page was late being updated, I was researching how it worked when I ran across your updated Template:Version doc saying it wasn't used on the front page...yet it very clearly was in use there. Color me confused! I almost put a note on Majr's talk page in case it was by accident. So I'm guessing I caught it while you were in the middle of coordinated changes. If so, could you please leave a note here to say when you've completed it? Thanks! – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 18:41, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- I forgot to mention: The front page still shows 1.1 in the Planned Versions table. I'm not sure who needs to update that. – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 18:44, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- Oh my, sorry for the confusion. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 19:16, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not sure adding a separate template for that is a good idea given it is for the most part only used on the front page, and the other few places tend to be fine waiting a bit for the update. The front page gets the most questions waiting for the update anyways.
- I think removing the cascading protection is a decent option, though an extra close watch on main page templates would have to be kept. –KnightMiner · (t) 22:06, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- Directly on the page are:
{{Version}},{{FrontPageLink}}, Minecraft Wiki/edition and Minecraft Wiki/style. - Protection cascades further to: Module:Version, Module:Version/Numbers, Module:FrontPageSprite, Module:FrontPageSprite/IDs.
- If cascade was removed, we could heighten permission on Template:FrontPageLink, module:FrontPageSprite and /IDs, and /edition and /style, and I think that's all. Then only other thing to keep track of would be Template:Version, Module:Version and Module:Version/Numbers. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 22:29, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- Directly on the page are:
- I doubt that creating a duplicate template for the front page will solve anything because most users who complain about updating the version numbers complain only because the version numbers on the front page aren't updated. And Module:Version front page/Numbers still would need to be edited by admins. | violine1101(Talk) 08:30, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- Ideas so far
To allow more people to update the versions on the front page, we could:
- change the protection to directors.
And if we want to free up the Version template, instead of using a duplicate template, we could do one of two things:
- remove cascade from the main page, raise the protections on other transcludes and semi-protect the version template, or
- hard-code the variables in the page. (rendering the Version template mostly redundant)
Any thoughts? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 15:48, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- We could have an edit copy for the template, which would be semi-protected and used on the edit copy for the main page. The Blobs
03:27, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- As far as I know, the only place where the current version numbers are actually used are the Edition pages (Minecraft, Pocket Edition, Console Edition etc). Using hard-coded variables would make the template pretty much redundant, wouldn't it? | violine1101(Talk) 09:39, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Abuse Filter Issue
I attempted to edit Tutorials/Setting up a server to remove information on and the section relating to Evolve (the VPN), as Evolve ceased operations on June 1, 2017, according to their website EvolveHQ. However, I was blocked from removing the section by an edit filter barring new users from removing a section. Seeing that I am not allowed, could one of you remove the information please? Image cacheing
Can anything be done about the image caching taking the better part of a day to refresh? It seems to me that when you upload a new version of a file, that should be propagated out to all caches, but this doesn't happen. Is the length of time we wait totally necessary? Thanks for consideration, – Sealbudsman talk/contr 21:04, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

- Hmph. Ok, I'm reading about it more, and the situation is acknowledged in MediaWiki's CloudFlare manual at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:CloudFlare#HTTP_purge, and reported at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T64356: MediaWiki cannot purge single assets cached in CloudFlare. Booooo. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 15:47, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
- I wonder if Curse would be willing to throw resources behind getting T64356 straightened out and getting single-file-purge working for cloudflare. It's an open source project after all? And it affects all of Gamepedia. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 15:56, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

Bots not showing as bots
Bots such as Ffbot are not showing up as bots in edit logs and Special:RecentChanges, aka b is not showing next to the edit which means "Show/hide bots" does nothing at all. Can someone tag bots as bots? – Nixinova
04:27, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- Bots don't get flagged as such automatically, and if no one requests a bot flag for them, chances are they'll go without. I've flagged Ffbot; if there are others which need the flag, please list them here and I'll flag them as well (this goes for the future as well). 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:22, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- (Also note that the bot flag doesn't apply retroactively: while future edits will be flagged as bot edits, edits which were made before the flag was added are still considered non-bot edits.) 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:23, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- While he can (and should) correct me if I'm misinterpreting his intent (Majr), my reading of your request and the subsequent discussion was that the refusal was about having your bot do extra tasks, rather than having it flagged as a bot. 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:39, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- Also, if the request was rejected to get the bot right, the correct thing to do would be to not make contributions using the bot instead of making them without the tag. I cannot imagine any reason why he would want your bot to operate without the bot tag.
- What exactly is the bots purpose anyways? Most of the contributions I have seen are useless whitespace changes or other tweaks that do not affect the final rendered page. Both of these things are normally fine to do as general fixes while performing other actions but are rather pointless on their own. –KnightMiner · (t) 00:02, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

- Hello. The Persian (Farsi) translation project did exist before, but has been deleted by Majr (the main administrator of Minecraft Wiki) on July 9 as part of the recent cleanup of translation projects. You need to consult this question with him, but basically what you need is to translate the main page to Persian, and that’s the only requirement so far. Once the main page is translated, a brand new wiki can be opened. — NickTheRed37 (talk | RU) 16:06, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Adding confirmation tweet to 1.13 page
I noticed Badprenum share a tweet from Dinnerbone on the forums about the upcoming change in block metadata. Because the 1.13 wiki page only contained a quote from Grumm dated from March about him working on it I concluded that this specific (more recent) confirmation about the removal of block data values would be useful. The system decided otherwise & blocked me based on a keyword. - Yes, as it could reduce the spam of IP addresses.
