CreeperFan2015 (talkcontribslogsblock log)

Continuous misinformation, mainly regarding Single Player Commands and the Human entity, but also including other things. --Pokechu22 (talk) 18:30, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Bringing this back up as he's not stopped for months. Skylinerw (talk) 20:35, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Bumping this again as no action has been taken since the account was created. -BDJP (t|c) 20:43, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
Can confirm, still adding misinformation that even I have to revert. I suggest a 2-week or 1-month ban. --MarioProtIV (talk) 16:30, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
This is very weird. How did any administrator not notice this topic? It’s months old. I would partially blame that on apparently lower activity of administrators that I see in the recent changes. But what if there is a different reason? — user:NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 16:40, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Wait, almost 9 months of misinformation (if not more), and neither a block nor a final warning? And a 1 month block is thought to be able to stop him (i. e. for a longer time than the block's duration)? Is there absolutely any reason not to go straight to a long-term block?
In addition, please remind me, are all blocks still Gamepedia-wide? --AttemptToCallNil, previously known as GreenStone (report bug, view backtrace) 16:55, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Maybe the user thinks the information is true. We should give a warning, as you said has not happened. The Blobs16px 02:27, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
I already gave him a warning weeks ago. -BDJP (t|c) 03:47, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Still is continuing to add continuous misinformation. Orthotope, Goandgoo, or Majr please just block this kid (a year-long ban might be good enough), is still annoying all of us. --MarioProtIV (talk) 21:20, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Shhhh, shhhh, don’t insult here... — user:NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 15:58, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
Can confirm that the user in question continues to add unsourced information. He's been warned multiple times on this on his talk page (I even told him how to contribute properly to feature discussion without angering other editors) but he persists. It's been almost a year, most of us are tired of cleaning up after him. Some admin action is needed here! Superspace (talk) 19:21, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
He is still adding misinformation, block ASAP. --MarioProtIV (talk) 15:04, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
And since no “regular” admin tries to block this user, I will pass this to Curse. Game widow, can you block CreeperFan2015 for misinformation, please? — user:NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 16:24, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
Looks like Goandgoo took care of it (thank you!!). He was blocked for 1 month. --MarioProtIV (talk) 11:54, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Hooray. Although it would be better to have the sanctions last longer. But the thing doesn’t end with this ban, this is only a half of the matter... — user:NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 12:40, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

Latency of the administrators

The user CreeperFan2015 had to be blocked for his actions a long half-of-a-year ago. But only now did the administrators react. On the other hand, they paid attention to other harmful, block-worthy users and responded in kind. Here comes the question: How did administrators not react to the user for months? Why is the block duration so short (1 month), and is it connected to the latency? — user:NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 12:40, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

I've always wondered if the reason their not seeing it is because it's at the top of the page, and not at the bottom (where they check?). The worst case scenario being that CreeperFan2015 may be related to one of the admins (I doubt it, but it's an interesting and scary thought). - 15:35, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
Apologies for not blocking the user earlier, I personally didn't see the request until I saw the revived discussion in the recent changes feed. I do think potentially making a new thread rather than reviving an old one would be better in the future. The user is also not related to the administration team in any way. User:GoandgooTalk

Dinoguy1000, Majr, Orthotope Is there any way to improve our spam filter to insta-block these sorts of accounts? I've noticed many occurrences of spam accounts recently. User:GoandgooTalk
06:47, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Because the content of user profiles is saved in your preferences, it bypasses the spam filters as well as such things as the URL blacklist. In addition, admins don't have any way of removing spammy or abusive content from a profile - we can ask a user to do so themselves, and block them if they refuse, but that's the extent of it. I would hope that staff has the means to do so, but it would be inconvenient to have to make a request of them every time such content needs to be removed. User:Dinoguy1000Special:Contributions/Dinoguy1000? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 09:17, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
(edit conflict)I tweaked MediaWiki:Titleblacklist to try to catch some of it. What's really frustrating is that the spammers seem to have discovered that user profiles aren't subject to the abuse filter or spam blacklist, and we can't do anything to clean up the mess. -- Orthotopetalk 09:23, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
It’s Curse staff that should be able to resist that. Game widow? — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 15:02, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

My god. That's a lot. The words "Watch" and "movie" seem to be in the vast majority of the spam account names, so those shouldbe the main ones to blacklist. - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 16:41, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
I've updated the blacklist, but this is just a game of spam whack-a-mole, and it's not even effective as long as the profile content remains; we desperately need staff's attention here. User:Dinoguy1000Special:Contributions/Dinoguy1000? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:40, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Autoblock should be blocking the IPs used to create the accounts, but they're probably using a botnet or proxies to get around that; only Curse staff have the checkuser right to see IP addresses. I'm a bit frustrated that Curse developed and pushed out the profile system without appearing to consider its spam/abuse potential. The only real solution I see is to have profile edits go through the spam and abuse filters, and give admins the ability to edit or delete profiles and comments. Until that can be implemented, I wouldn't mind having account creation disabled temporarily. -- Orthotopetalk 20:53, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry to speak out of turn, just happened to be wondering around the pages, and I could not help noticing the checkuser related comment above. Clearly that would help a lot here, and also at other times... This may be info you guys already have, but it is my understanding that from a "legal" point of view on any wiki if the "admins" were / are willing to provide their real world names and details to the owner of that wiki then there is no reason (from a legal point of view) why the owner of that wiki should not grant "admins" checkuser rights. MrN9k (talk) 17:57, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
These spammers (or this type of spammer) is prevalent across a lot of sites. I know I've seen tons of them on reddit (I used to try and deal with it - they create subreddits which also don't really get spam filtered properly; same kind of whack a mole there), and I've also seen them post spam on gameinformer and on some abandoned jira bugtracker (mostly so that they can link to it without getting caught in other spam filters...). At least I see that the profile links have rel="nofollow" set. Getting proper spam filtering on profiles would be pretty important, and blanking them too. --Pokechu22 (talk) 22:50, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

I've sent out an email about the implementation issue with user profiles, so hopefully something can be done about it.
They have random IPs and user agents, so I would assume it's a botnet. Since you can probably still edit your preferences while blocked, there's probably not much point to even blocking them, as they could just edit their profile again. MajrTalk

Blacklisting "HD" seems likely to have a lot of false positives. At least Curse did change things to let admins edit profiles and delete comments, so we can get rid of the spam links. A lot of it appears intended to boost a site's search engine rankings by having a popular, reputable site (i.e., the Minecraft wiki) link to it. -- Orthotopetalk 02:32, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
I'm not sure if it would make sense for this to be an SEO issue - as I previously mentioned, those links have "[1]" set on them, which should deincentivize it. (Also, if you're looking for words to block, perhaps "putlocker" would be one of them - I don't think that would have any normal use here). --Pokechu22 (talk) 02:39, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Range block.

IPs with bold lettering have been blocked before.

For the past five months, these IPs have been edit warring with several editors over vandalism and unexplained changes on Minecraft 1.0 and 1.0.0. They just started up again today. -BDJP (t|c) 14:26, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Looks like a dynamic IP address, assuming this is the same person; only one has ever been active at any given time. Blocking that entire range ( would affect some 2,000 other addresses as well. Unless someone is actively changing IPs to get around blocks, that would be a lot of collateral damage to cause. -- Orthotopetalk 21:09, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
A few examples of when the IP's evaded blocks:
  1. was blocked for a month on September 12, 2015 for vandalism. Two IPs in particular ( and edited within that month-long time frame.
  2. was blocked for a month on November 21, 2015 for vandalism as well. One IP,, edited within that month-long time frame.
  3. was blocked for 3 months on June 30, 2016 for abusing multiple accounts. So far, two IPs, amd, have edited within the 3 month long time frame. -BDJP (t|c) 03:22, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

Bumping this as another IP with the same first two numbers has started edit warring today. -BDJP (t|c) 15:38, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

For now, it's been a single additional IP vandalizing, and I blocked them for a couple of hours. If they start up again, or start from another IP in this range, poke me and I'll do a range block for a day or so; in the meantime, if anyone can find out, I'd appreciate knowing whether any legitimate editing has ever been done from this range (to get a better idea of whether a longer-term range block would be likely to catch innocent editors). Current issues post-update

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I felt like this was the best place to do so, hopefully so MCWiki Administrators as well as Curse and Gamepedia staff can hopefully fix them.

Anyway, there appears to be some issues from the update to the latest version of MediaWiki, which include (and hopefully, limited to):

  1. Everything with Wii U in it either has a red link or does not show up properly. Some examples are the main page and the OS template.
  2. Pardon my language here, but the notification area looks like it got f**ked up by an explosion. Saying that I have over 99 notifications as well as one "talk page" notification.

Hopefully these issues get fixed soon. -BDJP (t|c) 03:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

I found more issues...
  1. number-id can not be use in "Link" templates like these: ({{BlockLink|id=1}}), ({{EntityLink|id=5}}).
  2. Search function in other languages are broken (fr:Une erreur s'est produite en recherchant : Nous n’avons pas pu mener à bien votre recherche à cause d’un problème temporaire. Veuillez réessayer ultérieurement. zh:搜索时发生错误:由于出现暂时性的问题,我们未能完成您的搜索。请稍后再试。 ,etc.).
Kakagou12341 (talk) 03:50, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
  1. Commons is down. Luckily there is very few images we use from there.
  2. Opening the actual notifications page should at least clear the highlight.
  1. Nothing to do with this update, or MW at all. That was an intentional removal of a deprecated feature, which happened over 4 months ago.
  2. Search is broken everywhere, but the suggestions in the search bar still work.
04:01, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
Another few:
  1. Gamepedia's bottom bar on short pages covers the sidebar.
  2. 'Save draft'-button sometimes doesn't know where it belongs (when the editor doesn't load completely, it is on the right place, but when the editor does load completely, it is somewhere else).
  3. Infoboxes are too far down.
  4. When viewing a preview, text at the right top does a </br> for no reason, even if there is enough space.
--:nl:Gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT NL Admin (:nl:Overleg gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT:nl:Speciaal:Bijdragen/DarkShadowTNT) 13:50, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
Note: This is tested in Mozilla Firefox, most recent version. Both the Dutch and the English Minecraft Wiki have those problems, and I think all the other MCW's too.
3. Looks fine to me. Maybe you're using an adblocker, and you're seeing a gap left where the ad was?
4. Can't reproduce, same issue perhaps?
13:59, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
3. Yes, using two adblockers (sorry!).
4. Probably
And a new issue, only Dutch Minecraft Wiki:
5. It seems like Chrome and Edge don't like the Dutch CSS. Firefox is fine. --:nl:Gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT NL Admin (:nl:Overleg gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT:nl:Speciaal:Bijdragen/DarkShadowTNT) 14:09, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Issues 3 & 4 are solved for me by putting

/* hide stuff I don't care about */
.atfmrec {
    display: none !important;

in my common.css (thanks to Dinoguy1000). Before I add this to the real CSS of the Wiki, will this remove ads for everyone on the Wiki or only for people using adblockers? --:nl:Gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT NL Admin (:nl:Overleg gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT:nl:Speciaal:Bijdragen/DarkShadowTNT) 15:37, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Putting that in the site-wide CSS would hide ads for everyone, which Curse probably wouldn't appreciate. Keeping it in your personal CSS should be fine. -- Orthotopetalk 15:45, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Issues with :nl:Template:Inventory slot

As title says, we have issues with Template:Invetory slot and every template that has somehow a connection with it on the Dutch Minecraft Wiki. It still shows the name from the items that are on it and the grid from e.g. the Crafting Table, but not the items that are on it. I tried to update every module of it, but it still says no. The issues apperead after Curse updated to MediaWiki 1.26, before that update there were no issues at all. --:nl:Gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT NL Admin (:nl:Overleg gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT:nl:Speciaal:Bijdragen/DarkShadowTNT) 14:11, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Also, I'm not sure if Firebastard is an acceptable username either. I brought it up on this noticeboard a year ago with no response. -BDJP (t|c) 18:14, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

By bringing it up before they have edited, you're making it an issue. Their name wouldn't have been seen again once it moves off the recent changes. I'm not actually sure what to do about so called "inappropriate" names. Blocking a user blocks them globally on gamepedia, so while a name like that might be inappropriate on a more... childish? wiki like here, on others it might not be. MajrTalk
01:59, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
It's certainly pushing the bounds of good taste, but not quite as outright obscene as some of the accounts that have been blocked. My inclination is to allow borderline cases, as long as they aren't making any disruptive edits. If their behavior is problematic, having a questionable username is another strike against them. -- Orthotopetalk 02:40, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Toggling mobile view does not work anymore

Since Gamepedia has been updated to MediaWiki 1.26, it is not possible anymore to toggle the mobile view, so you cannot view the desktop version of the wiki on mobile phones, and vice-versa. | violine1101(Talk) 22:06, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

A user at the German wiki complained about a corrupted layout when using the Browser-built-in function to view a website in desktop mode. Here are some screenshots: File 1 and File 2. Please fix this bug as soon as possible, since many prefer using the desktop version on their mobile phone. See here. | violine1101(Talk) 16:55, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
Additionally, {{escaped link|MediaWiki:Notification-header-profile-comment}} has a parameter $3 inside of it, but this parameter is not set by the comment extension (On the German wiki, I simply removed the link. Another user stated that this link with $3 inside would look like User:User:Violine1101). Also, at Special:Notifications, there is a double pipe-separator in the "description" of a profile comment notification. And it uses a wrong icon (heart, it should rather be a speech bubble or a talk icon or something like this).
Could someone at Curse (Majr, Game widow or someone else) pass those issues to the responsible team(s), please? | violine1101(Talk) 14:49, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Version pages are created by normal everyday editors, not admins necessarily. But I'll put one up! Thanks for bringing it up. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 17:54, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Issues... Once again, this time with :nl:Sjabloon:Reflist

It's me again, this time with a very annoying issue. It looks like :nl:Sjabloon:Reflist is partially working, and allows overflow with long links and long comments (and when using {{Reflist|2}} or more with pretty long links). It works fine on this Wiki (English) because it breaks up the comment and link, but not on ours. I tried to deal with it via the CSS way (note: my own CSS before I break the site) and updating the source code from the template itself. Nothing worked and it still overflows. So my question is: Can someone help to fix this problem? --:nl:Gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT NL Admin (:nl:Overleg gebruiker:DarkShadowTNT:nl:Speciaal:Bijdragen/DarkShadowTNT) 22:50, 4 March 2016 (UTC)

Because of the white-space: nowrap set on .references > li in :nl:MediaWiki:Common.css. MajrTalk

Minecraft scratch edition

I'm making a version of Minecraft on scratch, which will be use new models. I'm adding things like drink, deer (therefore venison), frogs and numerous other things. I wondered if i could make an article about it? Robinhoodn64 (talk) 07:29, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

You can make an article about it if it is connected to your user page in some way. For example you can use User:Robunhoodn64/Minecraft: Scratch Edition, but it can't be an actual article as it is an unofficial port of the actual game itself. -BDJP (t|c) 11:06, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

VisualEditor not conforming to Minecraft_Wiki:Style_guide#Linking

Hello all; maybe there's an easy answer to this, maybe there's not. I've noticed that editors who use VisualEditor will often end up creating links like {{escaped link|Creeper|creepers}} rather than {{escaped link|creeper}}s. I wonder if there's any configurability, to allow it to create links that more conform to our Minecraft_Wiki:Style_guide#Linking guidelines? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 02:15, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

New administrators on Polish Wiki

Hello. There are two new administrators on Polish Wiki NTBG and Piotrex43. Can someone update Directors page please? Thank you. :) Piotrex43 (talk) 19:23, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

 Done. MajrTalk

Could you update the Directors group in general please? Many users who are in it aren't administrators anymore (for example LukiGamer, who does not own the sysop rights anymore since 2012) and many users who are administrators aren't in the Directors group (see #New administrator), including my humble self. Also, some users seem to be twice in said group. | violine1101(Talk) 08:01, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
I've added director to everyone listed on the directors page when I could find an account matching the name listed there, but there were several that don't seem to exist; it's probably high time to review the status of everyone listed there and update things as appropriate (and find out what's going on in the case of inactive admins/bureaucrats and demote them/promote replacements as needed). I also removed director from LukiGamer; if it's not too much trouble, could you list other users with director who are no longer admins/bureaucrats (you can find a full list of accounts with director here)? I can do this later myself if you can't, but I don't have time to do it now. User:Dinoguy1000Special:Contributions/Dinoguy1000? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:53, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
Thank you.
LukiGamer was the only German user affected, hence I mentioned him. I have however a custom css which highlights all admins and bureaucrats. Following users in the directors group list aren't highlighted:
Archomeda, DoranM, KunaiFire, LeGrund, Pochi33, Promaster6304, Ruansvrn324, STSc, Scaler6902 (= Scaler4?), Shahter100256 (= Shahter40?), Skyhi14, Szneqz, Tarne12081, Tomato5768, TunSha (= TunSha4?), Zelos666.
Please note that my css is not too accurate (I used the names in MCW:Directors to create it) so this list could be partially false (because someone changed his name and the name on the Directors page has not been updated for example). | violine1101(Talk) 09:17, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
KunaiFire is probably KunaiFire7 and LeGrund is probably LeGrund6; I've left these and the users you've listed as possibly equal to current admins/bureaucrats alone, and removed director from the others. If there are still users who have director and shouldn't, or who don't and should, list them here or on my talk page and they'll be updated as needed (anyone who reads this should feel free to let the other language communities know this as well). Orthotope most likely checked your Contributions page (Special:Contributions/Robinhoodn64) and saw no entries about uploading a file.
Try it this way and see if it works:
  1. go to a page with a File: prefix, like File:Robinhoodn64s_Great_New_Image.png, and it will bring you to an 'Upload file' page because it's an image that's not on the wiki yet.
  2. Use the browse button to upload your image from your PC,
  3. Type a filename to be used on the wiki, add a summary of what's in the image, and select a license (probably the last entry if it's a screenshot of your own creation in Scratch, or one of the Minecraft license entries if it's a screenshot of Minecraft, or uses their textures), and then
  4. hit the Upload button.
If there's any error message, please copy-paste it here.
On another note – your signature ought to have your username and a link to a profile page, like User:Robinhoodn64 (see Minecraft_Wiki:Talk_page_guidelines). This is so people know who it is that's talking, and what time you said it. "!!! HELLO EVERYBODY!!!" isn't your name : ) You can edit your signature in the first page of your preferences, and sign posts using ~~~~. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 15:16, 28 March 2016 (UTC)

@Robinhoodn64: Please, only post things that need administrator attention on this board, such as banning accounts, protecting pages or edits to protected pages. General wiki maintenance can be done by anyone, thus for things such as possibly released updates, you can post it on the update article's talk page or on Talk:Planned versions. user:KnightMiner, i cant put it on the main page that it IS out!!! ROBINHOODN64 (talk) 14:38, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
@Robinhoodn64: That's because the main page is protected against vandalism and unnecessary edits by other people other than administrator or higher. Because of profile spam accounts, it was recently changed so that you need to meet a minimum threshold before you can post comments on profiles. Unfortunately, though, it seems that some editors who meet that threshold are still restricted from posting comments; in this case, you should get in contact with Curse staff. Unless he tells you to do otherwise, ask Majr for help with this. User:Dinoguy1000Special:Contributions/Dinoguy1000? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 15:57, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
