Minecraft Wiki Admin noticeboard
Shortcuts

The admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post any discussions on the community portal talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here; instead, the page should be tagged for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.
  • For issues with filters preventing edits from being saved: filters are not able to be disabled for specific people. However, an admin may be able to perform the edit themselves for you. "New user" filters expire after you log in and make some edits around the wiki.

Table of slscool[]

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for speedy deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

If a user must be reported here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{vandal|Example user}} Your concise reason (e.g. vandalised past 4th warning). ~~~~ in the Block requests section.

If a protection or unprotection request must be requested here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{la|Example page}} '''duration (temporary or indefinite) and protection level''': Your concise reason (e.g. constant spam and vandalism). <nowiki>~~~~ in the Protection requests section.

Why do I get blocked?[]

Last night I was editing the parity issue list, I was adding some important things, it took me about an hour. When I was done and hit save, it didn't let me. Some network error popped up. Now I tried it again, this time I only edited one single line and hit save, it didn't work again, and I received the following warning:

Your action has been disallowed by an automated edit filter. A brief description of the matched rule(s) for your action is: [SOAP] Spam prevention

I wasn't "spamming", I was just trying to add important things that were missing from that page. I would like to know why this happens and how I can continue editing without getting this warning. Hobbylos1 (talk) 12:13, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

Short answer: you attempted to add a link to the forked wiki, which is against the Forking Policy.
Full answer: I assume "this time I only edited one single line" is referring to the line starting with "Player's hand and held." However, in your attempted edits, you also touched the line three lines down (the one starting with "Players have an animation"). I'm guessing you copied that line, or maybe the entire General or Animations section, and pasted it on this wiki. However, for whatever reason, this changed the link in that line: it replaced the link in the reference tag (the Minecraft Feedback link) with a link to the reference tag (what happens when you click the little [feedback 1] in the article). Those URLs, by default, take the URL of the current article and append "cite_note-x" to it. Since you were copying text from the forked wiki, that URL was a link to the forked wiki. The AbuseFilter does not allow links to the forked wiki. SLScool 00:04, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

I'm not an admin and have no idea what would've triggered that abuse filter, but the page you're describing is not something that would meet this wiki's notability guidelines, which disallow pages regrading fan-made content. If that's still something you want to get posted to the wiki, it would have to be a subpage of your user pageJEC talk @ 15:41, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Undeleting a very old image[]

On the main page, alongside File:Minecraft.png there used to be another file, File:Minecraft2.png, captioned "Epic cityscapes", which has long since been deleted (and doesn't show up on the internet archive either: http://web.archive.org/web/20090621202937/http://minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Main_Page). Since this was one of the very first images ever added to the wiki and since its companion is still around and still being used on the classic page, I think it deserves to be undeleted so it can be seen again by the modern world. AlienAgent124 (talk) 07:50, 1 May 2022 (UTC)

Done. –Sonicwave talk 22:05, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
Thanks a ton, and while we're on the subject of undeleting old files, I noticed something else: the files File:Cavern 1.png, File:Cavern 3.png and File:AlexVMiner's Spleef Arena.png are some of the only known screenshots of the missing version 0.0.21a_01. However, the user who uploaded these images also uploaded another image on the same day as those three, File:Cavern2.png, which was deleted. This was probably also taken in the same version so it's probably also one of the few existing screenshots of this version, so it definitely ought to be undeleted too.
There's probably at least a few more old deleted screenshots on here that are of versions now lost, but it would be difficult to tell which ones without undeleting them first. AlienAgent124 (talk) 00:30, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
Cavern2.png is just an extremely cropped lava texture.
Feel free to add more files here to look at undeleting.  Nixinova T  C   05:49, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

Fix false positives regarding edit filter 50[]

I have pointed out many false positives regarding edit filter 50, called "Tag character spam", by adding hex colors, such as #333333, #999999, etc., hence I proposed to fix the false positives to that edit filter. DeepLineMadom (talk) 07:27, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

It kicks in, however, only for users with less than 10 edits. I think that's reasonable, and unlikely to generate false positives. Amatulic (talk) 18:15, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

iron golem spawn volume conditions are in conflict in 2 pages for bedrock edition[]

I believe your second link was intended to link to the Tutorials/Iron golem farming, where you saw this discrepancy.
Always assume that article pages are more correct than tutorial pages. Articles contain actual technical information based on testing and code examination. Tutorials pages were originally created as a way to keep "how to" advice out of the articles, so that the articles contain only information about the game and not how to play it. Many tutorials are dumping grounds for fancruft and youtube videos, although I've tried to keep some of them clean and up to date, such as the ones about farming drowned, iron golems, axolotls, zombie villagers, and water transportation.
I missed the change for the iron golem farming article. Thanks for pointing it out.
The spawn volume changed after 1.17.30. I have fixed the tutorial page so now they both agree. Amatulic (talk) 17:07, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

Error with loot chests[]

All locations where there would be a table of a loot chest normally instead have this text: "Lua error in Module:LootChest at line 3817: attempt to index field 'rolls' (a nil value)." User:AttemptToCallNil made a bunch of edits to the module in the past two days. It may have been the result of that. I left a note on their talk page. Amatulic (talk) 14:44, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
The error was introduced in edit 2136652, I actually fixed it. Because of that edit, several upcoming pool lists became part of ordinary pool lists (they were supposed to be sibling nodes) and were interpreted by the module as one of the pools. Since the upcoming lists ended up empty after the edit, the module crashed due to absence of some critical fields that all pools are expected to have. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 06:47, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Navigation popups gadget no longer working[]

Since the recent wiki software update that finished earlier today, the 'navigation popups' gadget (see user preferences / gadgets) has stopped working. I rely on this gadget heavily to preview diffs in my watchlist and in recent changes, and also for patrolling edits.

It would be nice if the {{ping}} template started working with this new update. Testing pinging BDJP007301: Did you get notified of that ping? Amatulic (talk) 16:38, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

I submitted an updated version of the popups gadget for JS review. It worked for me in test mode. As for pings, I'm not sure, but I think the issue is with the custom notification system used, which won't work no matter how much MediaWiki is updated. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 17:06, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
Navigation popups is now working again for me.
It's a pity about the pings. That is an incredibly useful feature for those of us who 2000 pages on our watch list. Amatulic (talk) 00:17, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
I take that back. Navigation popups appears, but the "mark as patrolled" option is no longer there under the top heading. Amatulic (talk) 00:19, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
That's most likely an upstream change, so if this option is necessary, it will have to be re-implemented by local admins, which is a non-trivial task. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 03:15, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
Well, the navigation popups gadget had to be implemented by someone in the first place, and it was done originally at my request after I tested it by pulling it in from MediaWiki. That conversation is at Minecraft Wiki:Admin noticeboard/Archive 33#Woohoo! It works. User:Madminecrafter12 originally imported it and made it available in user preferences. The gadget did need some tweaking before it started working really well, particularly with patrolling. User:Majr fixed up that feature. User:Jack McKalling also participated. I guess it needs to be looked at again. Amatulic (talk) 23:43, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Inappropriate username[]

There is a user named Minecraft Wiki Administrator which is misleading because the user is definitely not an admin. Is it preferable to rename the account, or should the user just create another account? Fadyblok240 (talk) 02:52, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Blocked indefinitely. BDJP (t|c) 03:06, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
Is it a soft block or a hard block? If the username is the only problem with the account, then a hard block may not be justified. Sure, the edit made by the user isn't constructive, but we may not know whether the user is editing with malicious intent without letting the user make more edits. Fadyblok240 (talk) 03:10, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
In this case, because the user had "Admin" or "Adminstrator" in their name, it generally falls under a hard block. Some accounts with that word in their username haven’t even edited (or their contributions were deleted) before being blocked. BDJP (t|c) 03:28, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Important question[]

Is the official Technoblade easter egg on the Minecraft Launcher allowed on this wiki? (It is an official easter egg from Mojang.) I am having a dispute with another user about this. Minermatt122514 (talk) 21:09, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

I think that you are correct on the matter. Technoblade's crown is a feature built into the game that is important to address in the article, and disallowing it because it's "advertising a youtuber" just seems a bit silly to me. A note to both of you, however (pinging Minermatt122514 and ZaLink700), repeatedly reverting each other's edits over and over, especially spamming ALL CAPS in the edit summaries, is never a way to solve a dispute, and risks being blocked over. Next time, if something like this happens, I'd recommend starting a discussion somewhere to solve the issue, either on that page's talk page or just here (which I'm glad you did do eventually). --Madminecrafter12 (talk) 04:38, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

Abuse filter[]

Can you please remove the abuse filter when removing sections? I am redirecting the page Heartstealer to the page Claymore#Heartstealer, and then the abuse filter disallowed me from removing a section. Can you please remove the abuse filter? 110.54.116.150 (talk) at 10:25 UTC July 13, 2022

I'd say no. It would have negative consequences in other situations, and the redirect is bad anyway; there is no "heartstealer" section on the MCD:Claymore page. If you want this done, fix the destination page first and then ask someone with a confirmed account to fix the redirect. Amatulic (talk) 17:57, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Blocked by automatic filter when trying to edit https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Bedrock_Edition_level_format/Block_entity_format[]

I just tried it and it worked for me. I'm not a new user though. And I edited only that section, not the whole page. Maybe there's a word somewhere on the page that's triggering the filter (the word "position" certainly wouldn't). In any case, the spelling error is fixed. Amatulic (talk) 18:13, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
One of the lines changed in the IP's edit included a blocked string inside another word which triggered the abuse filter, even though it was already there and not touched directly by the edit. I'm not sure what would be the best way to prevent these cases without allowing a significant amount of spam through. –Sonicwave talk 22:09, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

It should be fixed now. Just be careful of how you move pages around so that the actual page history stays with the page, instead of just copypasting the contents to the correct location. If you aren't able to move the page directly back to its original title, it may be better to wait for an admin to delete the incorrect pages so it can be restored correctly; or see Wikipedia's instructions on Round robin moves for how to resolve such a situation yourself. –Sonicwave talk 05:35, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

More broken functionality[]

Since the recent wiki software update a month or so ago, I have noticed, in addition to the "patrol" feature disappearing from the Popups gadget, now diffs no longer have a "thank" option. I found this useful to acknowledge when someone corrected something I did. Amatulic (talk) 04:51, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Comment: It's not broken, bacause it appears on history pages. It seems to be a change made by staff on some config option for the extension globally. We could try to request it to get reverted back to how it was before, but we'd need a good reason anyway. Supeika (talk) 13:57, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
The good reason is that it was a useful communication aid that should still be available. Another reason might be that an "upgrade" to wiki software shouldn't result in downgraded functionality.
I never used it from history pages. I use "thank" from diff pages, where it used to work quite well.
As for page patrolling via popups, I do that from my watchlist. I don't recall it ever worked from history pages. Amatulic (talk) 21:50, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Info on Formatting codes in minecraft and specifically Book & Quill (java)[]

Info on Formatting codes in minecraft and specifically Book & Quill regarding Java version; there was a change in the 1.18.1 update which allows for formatting text in book & quill in game, this works on the current releases as well. Can the wiki(s) be updated to reflect this? Bjornolil (talk) 20:29, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

That change can be done by everybody (including you), so I am not sure what are we discussing here right now. Also a friendly reminder, this page is for requesting action/comment of wiki admins (specifically), otherwise everything should go on Community portal or to respective talk pages. --TreeIsLife (talk) 21:59, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Several IP edits tried to add info regarding the use of the paragraph symbol (§) for formatting to the page, but these edits were reverted. For good reason. Formatting is not possible in Java Edition using just that symbol. Although the symbol might have said effect, using it is not possible without hacking the client or using 3rd party software. Formatting with the paragraph symbol has been replaced with raw JSON text formatting. That is the recommended method for applying formatting, as the underlying functionality of the paragraph symbol is going to be phased out at some point. Although not explained in this much words in the corrective edit summaries, this is what was explained and that is why this information is not added to said page. Assuming you're referring to the paragraph symbol. Jack McKalling (talk) 22:14, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Although json may be the "correct" way to format, the section sign can also be used, even in vanilla clients prior to 1.14 and later than 1.18.1 I have tested that on two different computers, my laptop (Windows 11), my desktop(Linux Mint 21). I do not use hacked clients, however I did use notepad to type the character first as I am aware it can't be typed directly in java edition, is that considered a third-party software then?. How to reproduce this: Open minecraft launcher, start a new game (any version where books are available (except 1.14-1.18.1). Copy the character § from notepad after typing it, paste in minecraft book, then type any format character (0-9,a-f, k-o) then type, the typed text will then be formatted.

I am sorry that I used the wrong page, however the first text on the community page includes this text: "..discussions about a single page do not belong here", so I wasn't sure where else to post it. Bjornolil (talk) 04:56, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Delete old add-on tutorials[]

Hi, as you might now a few weeks ago I proposed to delete old add-on tutorials, citing low activity, them being generally incomplete/unfinished and having better resources on places like wiki.bedrock.dev and official Microsoft docs.

Given the lack of interest, despite having deletion requests, right on the pages themselves, I decided to give a heads up that I would post the deletion request, if I didn't have any objections by the next weekend. That time has come. I thinks it's fair to say, that if anyone would have wanted to step up and maintain the pages, they'd have spoken up already.

Which is why I'm requesting to delete them. They've served their purpose and now they're effectively superseded by official docs.

I've updated the deletion requests to link to this page. -Madman1995 (talk) 18:48, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

Update to DidYouKnow[]

Hi, it has been a while since the "Did You Know" facts page was updated, can you consider syncing it with the editcopy? Windwend (talk) 07:09, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Edit filter problem[]

In Talk:Bedrock Edition guides/Nether Update, I edited a section about the global moderation system. If you look in the edit summary, you can see “1.16.100 or 1.16.101… (added in hyperlinks due to edit filter claiming I posted a server IP x6, this is not vandalism x5)“. I believe the edit filter go mixed up because 1. I was not posting a server IP, and 2. It is not vandalism. I don’t know why this happened. 1.158.238.102 08:41, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

I see your attempts in https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Special:AbuseLog?wpSearchTitle=Talk%3ABedrock+Edition+guides%2FNether+Update but I also see that you eventually were able to add it by redlinking them. The edit filter kicked in because you are editing from an Australian IP address that is new here, and you started out by posting a sequence of dot-delimited numbers that look like a server IP address in Korea. Once your IP address is no longer "new" (meaning it has made at least 10 edits) there should be no problem. Amatulic (talk) 17:39, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
Version numbers look like IP addresses, I guess. And also, I hope to get 10 edits soon, so this wouldn’t be a problem in the future. 1.158.238.102 22:00, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

The page that you had made, along with the files that you used for said page, were deleted because it is in violation of rule 4 regarding nonsense pages. The wording on the page, as well as use of images multiple times across the page, is the reason why they were deleted as clearly nonsense. With how the page was set up and worded, it was clearly not a tutorial despite you saying otherwise. Please read over the rest of the wiki rules and the style guide before contributing further to this wiki. Thank you. BDJP (t|c) 17:47, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

No, they make a sound when a mob is spawned, but it's a mob sound. The section says that, and it's useful information, so I disagree that it should be removed. Amatulic (talk) 19:12, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

Nixinova: retiring my admin and bureaucrat perms[]

Since I have been virtually inactive over the past year with regard to my use of elevated rights, I've retired my administrator and bureaucrat roles on the wiki as I am no longer active enough to justify having them. There is now just one bureaucrat, so maybe someone should be promoted to fill my place  Nixinova T  C   05:17, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

My activity has waned also but I still check in 3 or 4 times per week, mostly to reduce the backlog of pending deletions (and I've taken a big chunk out of it since I became an administrator here). On English Wikipedia, the only things a bureaucrat can do are promote editors to administrators or bureaucrats and rename accounts. Is the same is true here? I could take it on. I don't expect I'll be needing the 'crat abilities much, however.
I do think we need an administrator with expertise in Minecraft Dungeons. I've been active in that namespace, but only doing gnomish maintenance work like getting things into compliance with the style guide. I don't play the game so I don't know much about it. I play only Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
On the other hand, what harm does it do for you to keep the permissions, even if you're inactive? Amatulic (talk) 21:00, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
Bureaucrats can also promote patrollers, bots and directors and delete individual revisions in accordance with the RevisionDelete policy. Neither of these should be much additional workload though, and SOAP members here can also handle RevDel requests. –Sonicwave talk 18:45, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
OK, it appears that I have the "bureaucrat" attribute now.

You are trying to edit Talk:Minecraft Wiki which has some extra protections as it's a common spam target. That page is also just for discussing changed to the main page. Additionally the content you are trying to add is referring to modded content, which doesn't get documented on this wiki. --MarkusRost (talk) 23:19, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

The font category on [2] has had the JSON tree describing custom fonts all messed up in the previous edit by User:ATizuHD. Update DidYouKnow[]

I'm happy to help, but I need to learn more. Is there some sort of vetting process to determine what goes into the editcopy? And is there an easy way to sync it other than copying and pasting? Amatulic (talk) 15:30, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. I don't have access to the admin view so I don't know how it is done, sorry I can't help directly on this. But I'd imagine there is some kind of "sync with editcopy" button, similar to the "diff with editcopy" button that non-admins have access to. Maybe another admin would be able to teach you how to do it. Windwend (talk) 18:22, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
There isn't any way to sync it besides copy-paste (and looking at the "diff with editcopy" to see the changes), and no vetting process for the editcopy, although it looks like Windwend has been the only one updating it for the most part. –Sonicwave talk 19:28, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

These are your changes. The only typo fix I could find was your change from "behavior" to "behaviour"; however, per the spelling guidelines, this is actually incorrect. SLScool 15:01, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
In addition you've switched around some mobs from previous mob votes, introducing incorrect information on the page. Please do not reinstate these changes again. –Sonicwave talk 18:46, 10 June 2023 (UTC)

How is "behaviour" incorrect? it is an alternate spelling of behavior, not something that should be fixed. Also, the "introducing incorrect information on the page" thing is wrong, it is correct information.– Unsigned comment added by CeresTheDwarf (talkcontribs). Sign comments with ~~~~

Yes, "behaviour" is an alternate spelling of "behavior". However as documented at MCW:SPELLING this wiki uses American English for both consistency across articles as well as because that's the default in-game language used. -MarkusRost (talk) 10:20, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

I notice that all the sprites are not loading properly, including block sprites, entity sprites and so on. Does anyone know what has caused this, and how this may be fixed? Windwend (talk) 16:58, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

Correction: Entity sprites seem to be working, but block sprites are not. Take this Silk Touch page for example. My hypothesis is that sprites do not work in wikitables only. But they work in the Blocks template page which is quite weird. Windwend (talk) 17:01, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

On the Jack o'lantarn page, under the Enchanting section, it states " Jack o'lanterns can be enchanted with curses using an anvil in all versions before 1.20.‌[Java Edition only] "
But Then lower down the page, in the History section on the table for Java Edition it says " Jack o'lanterns can no longer receive curse enchantments through an anvil. " for the 1.13 17w47a version.

Vandalism by User:DressingBlessingDress[]

All of this user's edits have introduced broken links, formatting errors, and incorrect information. Most of the edits appear to haphazardly replace words with synonyms. Meeples10 (talk) 00:18, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

I just tried rewriting the contents. I'm sorry to cause troubles, could you tell me how to make proper edits?DressingBlessingDress (talk) 01:01, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Why are either of you still editing fandom? All the other editors moved to a new site - check out Minecraft Wiki:Moving from Fandom or https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/16r3y8x/the_minecraft_wiki_has_moved_from_fandom_to/ Hazentol (talk) 01:07, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
That should probably be made more obvious to people reading this wiki, maybe with a global page header. Meeples10 (talkcontribs) 05:05, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
I might expect the harmless formatting changes, and maybe a bit of the harmful changes, from the visual editor (only for the three edits with the "Visual edit" tag), which I won't blame DressingBlessingDress for. However, I agree with Meeple10's assessment that the edits are mostly harmful. For example, you generally shouldn't be capitalizing the names of items. You can check the capitalization section of the style guide for what should and should not be capitalized. You also shouldn't try to replace in-game names with synonyms. For example, in your edit to Java Edition 1.20, "corresponding" and "unique" might have been okay if those were the terms we used across the rest of the wiki, but "board," "peeled," and "flag" were not as they replaced the actual in-game names of "crafting table" and "slab," "stripped," and "sign," respectively.
As for linking to the forked wiki: that is not allowed per the Forking Policy established by Fandom. We had an announcement, and it ran for its full two weeks (plus 7 hours because I looked at the time stamps incorrectly, plus another minute because I was slow), but that's it. Approx 11 Vandalism/Spam pages need re-deletion due to database rollback[]

Due to the database rollback, 3 mainspace articles (containing only spam/vandalism) and 8 pages within Category:Pending speedy deletion need re-deletion.

Mainspace articles containing spam/vandalism:

Category:Pending speedy deletion should contain 0 pages and files, and be completely empty. User pages that requested deletion should be deleted, due to author request.

There should be 11 entries in the deletion log within a few minutes of each other, showing all 11 of these pages being removed.

Delvin4519 (talk) 18:56, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

The first three aren't really spam/vandalism. The first would be fine if we normally had "Minecraft [stage] 1.x" as redirects, but we don't, so I'll delete it. The other two are spellings of the sea pickle's proper name ("sea pickle" is a nickname). However, to my knowledge, we do not normally have such things as redirects, and for that reason, I'll delete them.
I'll take a look at the speedy deletion category. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. SLScool 19:28, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

Block Savounited1932[]

I am requesting that Savounited1932 be blocked from this wiki permanently for two main reasons. If a permanent block is deemed too much, a month could suffice.

1. Savounited is very trigger happy with reverting and rollbacking edits. An unfortunate amount of the time these edits are constructive, sometimes they are not perfect and need tweaking to be style guide compliant, but Savounited does not improve them, instead simply reverts them and never provides an explanation for the user, who is left clueless as to why all of their edits are being reverted by someone who is seemingly staff. Not biting newcomers is a key policy of any wiki, and not abiding by said policy gives the wiki a very poor impression. If you want people to edit here more, that behavior can't be tolerated.

Here's just a couple edits I found that display what I'm describing:

Savounited has also been reverting talk page messages sent to him that criticise him for posting illegal content.

Notably, this behavior has caused an active editor to leave this wiki, that being HITHITHIT, who cites Savounited's behavior as a reason for leaving. No user's behavior should be causing others to feel the need to leave the site entirely, that needs to be dealt with.

2. Savounited frequently copies from other wikis when making articles, despite knowing full well that this is a violation of the source's copyright, because he had been notified of this before. An example of this is the armadillo scute page. Now, one time of this is okay and an easy mistake to make, but frequently posting illegal content after being told not to is ignoring policy and disruptive.

I understand that this wiki doesn't have much of an admin force, so it's understandable why Savounited's behavior has slipped under the radar and not analysed closely. But on any wiki with an active admin force, this user's behavior would have punished rather quickly.

You may worry that blocking Savounited would be losing a very valuable editor, but I disagree. When he isn't copying illegal content that needs to be deleted, or reverting actually helpful edits that aim to improve the wiki, he's quickly making poor quality pages just for the sake of it, or so it feels like. He creates many new pages but doesn't try to expand them much, leaving them in a really short and outdated form. Minecraft features change rapidly over a couple weeks, so if Savounited has no intention of maintaining these pages that he's quickly creating, the pages could be better off not existing. A reader finding a page with outdated and therefore misleading information is, in my opinion, a lot worse than the reader not finding the page at all. So if what you're losing by blocking Savounited is a lot of outdated pages harming readers, you're not actually losing anything.

Since Savounited isn't an admin (I'm glad), you're not losing someone who is handling vandalism. If you need more people to handle vandalism, the best idea would be to contact fandom staff and see if any of them can provide assistance.

Finally, Savounited has tried to have me blocked for some rather silly reasons that don't pertain this wiki, which is rather ironic and another display of his poor behavior to other users. This does make it look like I'm making this out of revenge, which isn't true, but I suppose nothing I say can stop people thinking that, but I can say that I've planned on writing this since before he tried to get rid of me.

I fully support the request to block Savounited1932 from this wiki. These issues are serious and detrimental to the community. We can't have users being driven away by other users, we can't permit plagiarizing content from anywhere else, and bad articles are a problem too. They ignore warnings about copying content, and they continue to ignore warnings, which shows a blatant disregard for the rules, even if they follow other wiki rules. Given the severity of these issues, I have to take action to protect the integrity and welcoming nature of our wiki. This wiki will remain a place where constructive contributions are valued and editors can collaborate without fear of their work being tossed aside. StuckInAHypickle (talk) 08:13, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

hi. i went onto the Arthropods page recently and noticed the list of mobs table was severely messed up to the point where it merged with the history table. after a few minutes of experimenting, i was able to fix it by editing a few lines in the source editor. i typed up a description of the changes and hit save, but got blocked but the automatic filter with the message "You are attempting to remove a section of this page. As a new user, your action has been disallowed." it told me to go here to notify the admins of it, so here i am

for reference, the page should look like this (i screenshotted the preview),

What the arthropods page is probably supposed to look like

but it currently looks like this

I cant make a REDIRECT for the Java Edition 24w14potato[]

When I tried to make a redirect for the Java Edition 24w14potato, I cant because when I tried, it said:

"Your action has been disallowed by an automated edit filter. A brief description of the matched rule(s) for your action is: We no longer have snapshot articles"

However, Java Edition 24w14potato is an exception because it's a joke snapshot. So I think the admin should make the redirect of that snapshot themselves. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 05:10, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion. I've added the redirect that you tried to create according to Special:AbuseLog. SLScool 05:16, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

Use of Mine Craft Patch notes for updating pages.[]

I am wanting to update the "Wolf" page(s) based on the Mine Craft patch notes for update 1.20.5. Are there any restrictions for using this as a source of information including copy, paste into the structure of the page? Other than referencing the patch notes, is any other form of attribution required?

SkinnySkipper (talk) 05:52, 9 October 2024 (UTC) Yes, that's fine. That's how update articles were made back when we had people who did it. You can check out those updates articles to see how it's done, including how to cite the patch notes. SLScool 14:04, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
