This page describes content that is a part of the Echoing Void DLC.

Template:Infobox

The Stronghold is the first mission of the Minecraft Dungeons Echoing Void DLC. Unlike all other DLC missions before it, the mission can be found on the Mainland tab, on a very small island near the small continent.

Story

A FORGOTTEN PORTAL – A long-abandoned Stronghold has suddenly become a hub of activity. That can only mean one thing - something ominous has awoken within. Solve the mystery that lies within to find the path forward.

In-game Story

The story is that the hero would need to get six Eyes of Ender from six Endersent that went to six various locations on the Mainland. These Locations are Creeper Woods, Soggy Swamp, Pumpkin Pastures, Cacti Canyon, Desert Temple, and Highblock Halls. To open the End Portal that resides in the Stronghold the hero must retrieve these eyes and bring them back. Once opened, the otherworldly map will be unlocked to interact in the “Other Dimensions” Tab. The first location on that map is the End Wilds[1].

Voiceovers

What dark force conspires deep in the depths of this abandoned Stronghold? As you enter these depths, you start to feel as if the very void itself is watching. But now that you’ve begun, you must follow this path to the end — No matter where it leads.

In-game Intro

Objectives

Main article: MCD:Objective
The Stronghold
 1. Find The End Portal.
Travel To The End
 1. Place The Eyes of The Ender.

Appearance

The Stronghold is made up of stone bricks and wood. There are several pathways and brides over bottomless pits. The stone is covered with ripped blue carpets and Silverfish can be seen falling from the roof. In the middle of it all, the End Portal sits levitated over a pit of lava. Unlike the original game, though, it has two sets of stairways leading up to it. When the hero clicks on the portal it will make a banging sound, and if it is not activated, a menu will appear saying you need to collect the eyes of ender.

There are also paths leading away from the portal that are blocked off and say the following message if the hero clicks on them:

This Dungeon Is Sealed! Return to camp and search the Overworld for Eyes of Ender and return them to the End portal to explore the area beyond.

An ender pearl is an item that can be thrown to teleport to where it lands, or used to craft eyes of ender which are required to access the End.

Obtaining
Mob loot
An enderman has a 50% chance to drop 1 ender pearl when killed. The drop is increased by 1 per level of Looting, with a maximum of 4 with Looting III.

Chest loot
ender-pearl

A trapped chest always containing 2 ender pearls can be found in the "fake end portal" room of woodland mansions.

Trading
java, expert-level cleric villagers have a 2 chance to sell an ender pearl for 5 emeralds.

bedrock, expert-level cleric villagers sell one ender pearl for 5 emeralds.

Bartering
Piglins have a 10 (2.18%) chance to barter 2–4 ender pearls when given a gold ingot.

Usage
Ender pearls can be thrown by pressing use. After it is thrown, the ender pearl is consumed, and the player teleports to where it lands, taking 5 fall damage. Wearing armor enchanted with Protection and/or Feather Falling reduces the damage taken from the ender pearl.

Ender pearls have a small cone of travel; they do not all follow the same path when thrown in the same direction. The direction and velocity of ender pearl throws is slightly randomized. They can travel about 30 blocksjava/45 blocksbedrock when thrown straight up, and up to 54 blocks forward when thrown at an optimum launch angle of ~35° (on even ground).

The thrower's vertical velocity influences the throw. Hence timing a throw with a jump can increase the throwing range to 42 blocks when thrown straight up and 64 blocks forward at a 35° angle. Throwing while falling significantly decreases the range. Ender pearls collide with all minecart types, boats, end crystals and nether portals, and travel through end portals. Ender pearls that fall into the void disappear, and do not trigger the player to teleport. However, ender pearl entities (instead of dropped items) are not destroyed by lava and will teleport the player to the bottom of lava pools/lava oceans.

Ender pearls have a cooldown of one second before they can be used again. The cooldown is shown in the hotbar by a white overlay on the ender pearl that shrinks and must disappear before the player can use it again. If there are other inventory or hotbar slots containing ender pearls, they are covered with the white overlay as well.

Ender pearls can be thrown into end gateways to reach the outer islands of the End. They can also be thrown into the exit portal to reach the player's spawn point.

Ender pearl teleportation makes no sound itselfjava, but does emit a "small fall" sound at the destination when applying teleportation damage to the player.

Stasis chamber
Ender pearls are affected by bubble columns. An ender pearl can remain afloat on top of an upward bubble column, allowing it to be stored indefinitely. A mechanism can then be triggered to make the ender pearl hit a solid surface (e.g. by closing a trapdoor), teleporting the thrower back to the setup wherever they are.

Spawning endermites
An ender pearl has a 5% chance to spawn an endermite when it lands. This is the only way through which endermites can spawn, without using cheats. The endermite spawns at the player's position when the pearl landsje, or at the pearl's landing sitebe.

Trivia
*Ender pearls can be used to teleport/move through non-solid blocks without suffocation and solid blocks by pressing against the blocks and using the ender pearl at the player's feet until the player goes through.
*In Java Edition, it is possible to spawn a thrown ender pearl using commands, but it does not teleport, unless it is assigned an owner.
*If the player throws an ender pearl and then dies before impact while the pearl is in a loaded chunk, the pearl disappears and the player is not teleported. Pearls in unloaded chunks do not disappear if their owner dies.
*If the player throws an ender pearl in Survival mode and changes to Creative mode before the pearl lands, the player is still teleported.
*The player is still teleported by throwing an ender pearl and entering the Nether before it lands. The pearl is not lost if an ender pearl is thrown into a nether portal and the player travels through the portal; the pearl lands and teleports the player as usual.
*If multiple ender pearls are thrown in succession, the player can be hurt only once from fall damage within about a one-second span.
*If a player dies from ender pearl teleportation, the death message says: "<player> hit the ground too hard".
*A thrown ender pearl faces toward the player in first-person view, while it appears rotated horizontal in third-person view. This is the case for all throwable items (ender pearl, egg, snowball, and all throwable potions).
*Ender pearls and snowballs have the exact same range when fired. Therefore, snowballs can be used to predict the trajectory of ender pearls, or simply for practicing ender pearl throwing. This can be very helpful when the player has to throw ender pearls in dangerous environments, such as the Nether or the End.
*Despite the fact that ender pearls deal no damage to anything they're thrown at, provokable mobs (such as iron golems and piglins) will be provoked by the player if one is thrown at them.

Fishing
Enchanted fishing rods can be obtained as "treasure" items from fishing, and unenchanted ones as "junk" items.

Trading
Journeyman-level fisherman villagers sell enchanted fishing rods for 6 emeralds.
The enchantments are the same as the ones obtained from an enchantment table at levels 5–19.

Chest loot
enchanted-fishing-rod
notelist

Carrot/warped fungus on a stick
If a carrot on a stick or a warped fungus on a stick is used to the point of zero durability, it becomes a fishing rod again.

Mob loot
java, the drowned mob has a 3.75% chance of spawning with a fishing rod equipped.
bedrock, naturally-spawned drowned has 0.85% chance to spawn with fishing rod, while converted drowned has 1% chance to spawn with it.
If killed, they have an 8.5% chance of dropping this fishing rod. That chance increases by 1% for each level of Looting applied to a weapon (up to 11.5% chance). The dropped item is damaged and never enchanted.

Usage
Fishing
Fishing

Fishing rods can be cast into water. After a short period of time, a stream of bubble particles approaches the fishing rod. If the rod is reeled in once the particles "bite" the bobber, the player obtains a fish, junk, or possibly a treasure item. If the fishing rod was in the player's hand and is no longer, the fishing bobber entity despawns, unless the fishing rod to the off-hand or it's been swapped with another fishing rod.

Crafting ingredient
Fishing Rod, Damaged Fishing Rod

Hooking mobs and other entities
Fishing#Fishing rod durability

The fishing rod can be used to hook mobs, itemsjava and some entities, and even players. The fishing rod can then be reeled in, dragging the hooked object toward the player without dealing damage. Reeling in a mob or entity costs 5 points of durability, and reeling in an item costs 3 points. Reeling a mob pulls it toward the player with a speed of 1 the distance between mob and player.

Besides mobs and items, entities that can be reeled in include:
* s
* s
* Minecart Minecarts of any type
* Armor Stands
* Shulker Bullets
* Fireballs
* Small fireballs
* TNT Primed TNT
* Any falling block such as Sand, Gravel, Dragon Eggs, Concrete Powders, Scaffolding, Snow on Bedrock Edition or Anvils

Some entities can be hooked, but cannot be reeled in:
* Horse Mobs riding/being ridden by other mobs (in Bedrock Edition, the hooked mob dismounts)
* Paintings
* Item Frames
* knots
* End Crystals
* Shulkers

Attempting to reel in said entities still costs durability to the rod.

The rest of the entities cannot be hooked at all:

* egg Thrown eggs
* snowball Thrown snowballs
* ender-pearl Thrown ender pearls
* eye-of-ender Thrown eyes of ender
* splash-potion Thrown potions
* bottle-o'-enchanting Thrown bottles o' enchanting
* dragon-fireball Dragon fireballs
* Wither Skull Wither skulls
* firework-rocket Firework rockets in flight
* arrow Arrows in flight
* particle-speed Area effect cloud
*

Using it on a villager lowers the player's popularity and causes any naturally-spawned iron golems nearby to attack.

Fuel
A fishing rod can be used as fuel in furnaces, smelting 1.5 items per fishing rod.

Other usage
The hook can also be used to activate wooden pressure plates or weighted pressure plates.

Enchantments
A fishing rod can receive the following enchantments:
{| class="wikitable col-2-center"
|+
!Name
!Max Level
!Method
|-
|Lure

note

A fishing rod with the Mending enchantment has infinite durability if used for fishing only. The rod incrementally repairs itself using the experience gained each time a player reels in a fish, even if starting from nearly 0% durability. Players wearing damaged Mending armor have a lower average rate of repair, because the mending mechanic can ignore damage to the rod while repairing armor instead. Unbreaking III can nearly guarantee that the rod does not break, unless it's already at low durability.
