The Orb of Dominance is a sentient object in Minecraft Dungeons that gives the Arch-Illager his power.

Lore

The Orb appears to be able to put its victims in a trance-like state. After that, it manipulates them with the promise of power at the price of complete obedience.

Its first confirmed victim is Archie (the future Arch-Illager), who ended up leading the Illagers and other monsters to war against the Villagers and other enemies.

Atop the Obsidian Pinnacle, after the Arch-Illager's health is reduced to 0, the orb transforms into the Heart of Ender. After its defeat, it shatters, freeing Archie from it’s influence, who celebrates its destruction with the players.

However, the Orb was able to retain its power and survive, albeit in small fragments.

One of these made its way to a jungle, where it created the Jungle Abomination out of various objects and plants, giving the awakened jungle itself sentience.

Another went to a lively island, where it corrupted a local wraith, covering the island in a Creeping Winter.

Another one also landed on top of a mountain, corrupting the ancient protector of the Gale Sanctum, causing howling winds.

Another dived into an ocean, which corrupted an ancient Elder Guardian, disrupting the ocean currents.

After all four of the stray shards in the Overworld were destroyed, it was discovered that some Endermen had recovered the remaining shards from the ruins of Highblock Keep, taking the shards through the End Portal. Since then, the Heart of Ender lived on in the darkest reaches of The End, leading to a journey to destroy the ethereal resurrection of dominance. After battling the final form of the heart of ender, it is finally defeated for real with the destruction of the last shards of the orb and freeing all dimensions from its corruption.

• An Ancient Elder Guardian who became the Ancient Guardian.
• Archie, an outcast Illager who became the Arch-Illager.

• The Fabled Tempest Golem that was corrupted by the Orb's shard.

• Corrupted Cauldron (Boss) — An enchanted cauldron that was given life by the Orb.

  • Endersent (Blight Eye) — One of the Endersent Overlords sent to Soggy Swamp to guard an Eye of Ender.
  • Endersent (Reaping Eye) — One of the Endersent Overlords sent to Desert Temple to guard an Eye of Ender.

Confirmed Embodiments

• The first Embodiment of the Orb, created as a last resort from the defeat of Archie.
• The second and final Embodiment of the Orb, formed from the anguish of being shattered.

Trivia

• The Orb of Dominance is a 5×5×5 cube. No pieces of the cube that large were seen in the ruins during the final cutscene in the Obsidian Pinnacle. Coincidentally, there were multiple 2×2×2 and 1×1×1 pixel shards that were perfect cubes.
• All mobs created directly by the Orb of Dominance or its shards all seem to have purple/pink colors on them, and some of them have enderman-like eyes.
• The Orb of Dominance produces enderman sounds in the opening cinematic, and the mob that it produces, the Heart of Ender, has an end-like appearance.
