  • Hi TheFallenOneGOTH

The information on those "Version History" sub-pages should technically be merged with the Alpha, Indev, and other such version-related articles. It doesn't make much sense to split up information into multiple pages, rather than having it all within different sections of the same article (a one-stop information resource). If we want to link directly to this information from a different article, we can link directly to the appropriate section using the "#" anchor.

    • To expand on my earlier message: I merged the alpha and indev information from those sub-pages, because there was so little of it, it wasn't justified having a separate article.

However, I have merged the tables of change-related information (previously located in Version history/Classic) into the Minecraft Updates article, because there was so much of it. I have made the table sections collapsed by default, so they don't take up too much space right when the page loads.

I still haven't found a place for Pocket Edition History.

    • Good work. But I am still a little confused as to whether or not official PC releases (i.e. 1.8, 1.8.1, 1.8.2, etc.) will be their own pages.

As for Pocket Edition, we can expand on the Pocket Edition History article to make a collapsible table for each section of updates (e.g. a section for 1.0 releases, a section for 0.16.0 releases, etc.).

I can't say I have a plan for Console Edition version history, but we could probably do what we did with Pocket Edition version history.

I am inclined to keep information regarding these "intermediate updates" within sub-sections of the 1.8 article, rather than creating entirely new articles for each individual 1.8.X update. Otherwise, we will end up with a handful of articles for every "1.X" series of updates, not to mention snapshots. Again, this has to do with keeping all information on a single topic (1.8) within one place, rather than spreading it out across multiple articles. I'm just not convinced that every minor update needs it's own article, as sometimes there is barely enough changes to justify a separate one. If a section or sub-section gets fairly lengthy, we could always collapse it by default, like I have done on the Minecraft Updates article.

As for Pocket Edition, we can expand on the Pocket Edition History article to make a collapsible table for each section of updates (e.g. a section for 1.0 releases, a section for 0.16.0 releases, etc.).

      I agree with that idea.

I agree with this as well. I think it is important to keep these "update history" topics in separate articles, based on the version of Minecraft (ie. PC, MCPE, Console). The console editions are the most foreign to me, as I only ever deal with MCPE and the PC versions. So, I will leave it up to you as to whether you would like to create an article to cover that topic.

  • Hi TheFallenOneGOTH

I was forced to remove the options.txt article you added to the wiki earlier. Whether intentional or not, it appears that at least the first two sections were copied word-for-word from gamepedia's Minecraft wiki. Copying content from other wiki's word for word is against our editing policy (please refer to Rule #1 in the "Do Not" section).

While it is perfectly acceptable to gather information from online sources, including other wikis, we must present this information in a manner unique to this wiki, to avoid any accusations of plagiarism. Any information is fair game to lift from other sites, the specific manner in which it is worded/formatted is not.

I am happy to provide further clarification if needed.

    • My apologies! The first two sections of that article were not meant to be verbatim. I tried to word it differently from the Gamepedia version, but I guess I do a poor job. Sincere apologies!

  • Hi TheFallenOneGOTH

I am wondering what source you find is most reliable for finding out the latest PC Snapshot? I am having trouble finding up-to-date info on this, as I typically don't pay much attenton to snapshot info myself.

    • In terms of official sources, I normally go to either the other Minecraft Wiki (Gamepedia) or to Minecraft's official website (Minecraft.net)

      I hope this helps. :)

  • Your rollback request has been approved.

  • You appear to be fairly active on this wiki, show a genuine interest in improvements and keeping the wiki up-to-date. You are also particularly quick when it comes to reverting vandalism as it occurs. Having rollback privileges would have made the task even easier for you when you dealt with that vandal recently. So, I'm curious: are you interested in rollback rights? Rollback rights are also a prerequisite to becoming an Administrator, if that is a role you eventually would like to pursue. I cannot request on your behalf, you would have to submit a request yourself on our Rollback page. However, I would be happy to offer a vote in support should you be interested. SmileySmall

I've updated the main page to be more current as per the topic you brought up. I used some of the elements of your example. Nice work! :)
