For the menu in which the settings can be changed, see Options.

The menu screen comprises all of the buttons and text for both the main menu and the pause menu. It is the interface that allows players to change options such as the game's language and active resource pack, as well as create a new world or join a multiplayer server. When the main menu opens, the game's logo appears with a splash caption beneath it. The game's menu can be accessed anytime by pausing the game with the Esc key by default.

Minceraft in game.
Information icon.svg
This feature is exclusive to Java Edition.

There is a 1 in 10000 chance for the title screen to display "Minceraft" instead of "Minecraft". Notch implemented this as an Easter egg, and kept it as a small secret, enjoying that he was the only one who knew of its existence. After stating a secret was in Minecraft undiscovered, the internet sought out to find it. Soon after, Notch posted "A Post-Mortem of Minceraft" on Reddit.

In crash logs, a reference to Minceraft may appear as a joke, stating "You should try our sister game, Minceraft!".

Instructions: Turn into fully-fledged panorama documentation instead of a dumping ground for seeds (which there are now lots of)

The main title screen of Minecraft displays a panoramic background that slowly pans across a pictured scene. In Java Edition, this scene remained the same from inception until Java Edition 1.12, after which the background was changed for each themed update.

Java Edition[edit]

Original prototype[edit]

The unreleased menu screen panorama that came before the final version.

Dinnerbone has stated that the menu panorama was originally going to be an in-game render of a live world, with custom world generation with the seed 100. He also mentioned another panorama that came before the one seen in Beta 1.8, which was a plains biome near the beach.[1]

Beta 1.8 – Release 1.12[edit]

The original menu panorama in-game. (Coordinates: X≈61.48, Y=75, Z≈-68.73)

The seed for the menu screen panorama in the game from Beta 1.8 to 1.12 (Beta 1.8 Pre-release to 1.13-pre1) is 2151901553968352745 or 8091867987493326313 (both are considered valid seeds), and work in versions from Beta 1.7.3 all the way back to Alpha v1.2.0 (except for population differences).[2]

The actual version that was used to generate this panorama must have been a development version between Beta 1.6.6 and Beta 1.7, based on the file dates.

Dinnerbone noted that the panorama was taken by Notch (likely on his laptop) while he was traveling, around June 1–15, 2011.[3][4]

The menu panorama was changed for the first time for the Update Aquatic. This panorama uses seed 18w22a (numeric: 1458140401) at coordinates X=1553.76, Y=58.62, Z=-1162.79. This seed generates most correctly in version 18w22a.[5]

The Village & Pillage menu panorama showcases a small plains village. This panorama image was taken near the spawn of 2802867088795589976 at coordinates X=240.57, Y=78.12, Z=147.38. This seed generates most correctly in version 18w48a.[5] In the panorama, a plains village is shown next to a bamboo jungle and an outpost to the distant.

The menu panorama for Buzzy Bees was taken on the seed -4404205509303106230 at coordinates X=339.691, Y=65.546, Z=-1072.041. This seed generates most correctly in version 19w40a. The same thing shares from Bedrock Edition beta to[5]

The Nether Update panorama was taken on the seed 6006096527635909600 at coordinates X=482.208, Y=78.515, Z=-1127.193. This seed generates most correctly in version 20w13a.[5]

Bedrock Edition[edit]

The panorama in game from 1.2.0 to 1.4.4.

The panorama seed from Bedrock Edition 1.2.0 to 1.4.4 was 95475027. This was used in the "Winding River" seed picker.[6]
