Additions[]
I suggest adding [a-z]*\.co\.cc to the blacklist --JonTheMon 17:51, 23 November 2010 (CST)
- MUCH agreed, on account of the massive undo session we had just earlier. =/ Btw, you're pretty fast. --meioziz 17:54, 23 November 2010 (CST)
- Meh, I do what I can. I stopped there for a bit b/c I had to go elsewhere. --JonTheMon 18:02, 23 November 2010 (CST)
- what will the above code block?--Kizzycocoa 08:51, 24 November 2010 (CST)
- Any url (has to start with http://) that has (any combination of a-z).co.cc --JonTheMon 09:01, 24 November 2010 (CST)
- ok then, added.--Kizzycocoa 09:03, 24 November 2010 (CST)
- uh, wait. how the hell do I add it?--Kizzycocoa 09:03, 24 November 2010 (CST)
- Just put the code on a new line. --JonTheMon 15:06, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- but, it says "words", but it isn't a word. it's a URL. so, idk what to do x.x --Kizzycocoa 16:00, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- So, just make a new section like

# URLs [a-z]*\.co\.cc
- and it should work. --JonTheMon 10:13, 24 November 2010 (CST)
- I tried making and editing a page with some of the urls from yesterday and it wouldn't let me save them. So, it looks like it works. --JonTheMon 16:26, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
(reset indent) FYI, for future reference, you can try a regex at http://regexpal.com/ to see what URLs will get blocked. You can try mine there along with some of the URLs from the vandal and see that they are caught. --JonTheMon 16:36, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Spam filter[]
Like someone did with "co.cc", forbid all sites ending with ".tk". Calinou - talk × contribs » 20:27, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- already done. --Kizzycocoa 20:29, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
URL shorteners[]
There's no reason for people to post shortened URLs unless they're trying to trick others into visiting something they wouldn't normally visit, so I suggest we add URL shorteners here. I'd do it myself, but it'll require tracking down and updating any current instances of links to such services to prevent people from getting stopped when they try to edit pages with such links. 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:29, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Not working sometimes?[]
The '\bminecraftcodes\.me\b' regexp doesn't seem to be working properly (for example here). Is the blacklist not applied to talk pages? -- Orthotope 22:20, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- That's because it only matches against text fragments that MediaWiki recognizes as URLs (which means they have to have a valid protocol). As you see there, it can be worked around simply by pasting the URL without the protocol, which causes MediaWiki to render it as normal text. This is a situation for an abuse filter, not the spam blacklist. 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:23, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- Okay. Maybe the abuse filter needs updating, then, as this particular bit of spam has been posted repeatedly? -- Orthotope 00:30, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've added a filter specifically for this; it should stop all such spam from now on (and it can trivially be extended for other sites if we need it). 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:38, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
