Magma Cream was first added in the 1.9 Pre-Release 2. It can be crafted with Blaze Powder and a Slimeball. Their use was added in 1.9 Pre-Release 3, for potions of fire resistance. The resemblance of this item to a slimeball and of magma cubes to a slime, some players can be mislead to believe that magma cubes drop this item, when, in fact, they drop nothing but experience orbs.

Bugs
Landing a block while immersed in lava or by jumping out of lava causes any fall damage you have accumulated from falling into the lava or bobbing up and down at the surface of the lava to be put onto the player all at once.
