Plugin API Update[2]
  • Initial versions of the Plugin API will be released in a couple of months. The release was originally planned for 1.3, and then for 1.4, but has been delayed since then.[3]Additionally there were rumors about the release of the Plugin API with Minecraft 1.5, but this was also false[4]
    • It aims to make Plugins/Mods easier to install and less prone to destroy your game
    • The Minecraft website will be revamped, helping to bring the most interesting community plugins and custom maps to the surface
  • Easier to add and animate models
  • Changing the way the game stores data regarding its many materials and items
  • Support for ingame persistent servers
    • So we’ll integrate our own server provider in the game. Our hosting service will probably be too simple for the hardcore who buy servers now; we’ll aim for servers with eight-to-ten people max, says Jeb
  • An in game tutorial[citation needed]
    • Plans are similar to the XBOX version
Unknown (Not set yet)
Account System Update[5]
  • Not a game update (will not modify the game itself and will be applied regardless of the version you're playing)
  • The possibility to change your username and the e-mail address that is associated with your account
    • Global Mojang accounts are already available and can be merged with Minecraft, Scrolls and Cobalt accounts.
      • Once the synchronization has been made, logging into Mojang games is made by using the e-mail address instead of the username.
      • They might also choose this moment to implement the long-awaited online synchronization of Achievements and Statistics.[6][7]
    • In-game usernames will be changeable, but all names on paid Minecraft accounts have to be unique (no matter if "legacy" Minecraft account or Mojang Account)
    • It is unknown how the username change feature will be adapted to server white- and blacklists.
