This guide is a simplified overview of all non-experimental changes in Trails & Tales update (Java Edition 1.20.x releases), which assumes at least some familiarity with the The Wild Update (Java Edition 1.19.x releases, excluding experimental features in these versions)

Chiseled Bookshelf		Ingredients Crafting recipe Any Planks + Any wood Slab	Axe	Chiseled bookshelves can store books, enchanted books, written books, and book and quills. Can hold up to 6 books. They emit a comparator output depending on the last slot interacted with.
Hanging Sign		Ingredients Crafting recipe Chain + Any Planks	Axe	Hanging signs can be placed on the wall or ceiling. Otherwise has the same functionality as a regular sign.

Suspicious Sand		* Generates naturally in desert pyramids, wells, and ocean ruins.	Shovel	Loot can be obtained by brushing it.

Changed

Block of Amethyst		Can now re-emit the vibration of an adjacent sculk sensor.
Note Block		When a mob head is placed on it, it now makes the ambient sound of that mob. Since creepers don't have an ambient sound, the note block makes a hissing sound instead.
Sign		Can now be edited without breaking. Can now be edited on both sides. Can now be waxed with honeycomb to prevent any further editing.
Sculk Sensor		Most of vibration frequencies simplified. Can now re-emit frequencies using a block of amethyst.
Smithing table		GUI reworked to include smithing templates.
Wool, Carpet and Bed		Colored variants can now be dyed any other color.

Pottery Sherds		Can be obtained from trail ruins, desert pyramids, desert wells, and ocean ruins.	Can be used to craft a decorated pot. The sherd used will correspond to the texture of the decorated pot.
Netherite Upgrade		Can be found in bastions. Ingredients Crafting recipe Diamond + Netherite Upgrade + Netherrack 2	Required to upgrade diamond gear to netherite. Can be duplicated using 7 diamond, 1 netherrack, and a netherite upgrade.
Smithing Templates		Can be found in their corresponding structures.	Can be used to create trim armors via the smithing table. The type of material used will determine the color of the trim. Armor trims are purely aesthetic, and will not impact gameplay. Can be duplicated using 7 diamond, 1 block of the corresponding template, and a smithing template.
Music Disc ("Relic")		Can only be obtained when brushing suspicious gravel within trail ruins, with only a 1⁄12 chance of appearing as a rare loot.	Plays the track "Relic"
Torchflower seeds		Obtained when the sniffer digs the ground.	Can be planted on farmland to grow torchflower. Can be used to breed sniffers and heal them.
Pitcher Pod		Obtained when the sniffer digs the ground.	Can be planted on farmland to grow pitcher plant.
