This guide is a simplified overview of all the changes in the Java Edition Infdev releases, which assumes at least some familiarity with Indev releases.

Blocks

New

Spawner		Generates in dungeons.	Pickaxe	Spawns zombies, skeletons or spiders around it.
Wood Stairs		Ingredients Crafting recipe Oak Planks 4	Axe	Allows you to walk upwards without jumping.
Stone Stairs		Ingredients Crafting recipe Cobblestone 4	Pickaxe	Allows you to walk upwards without jumping.

Changed

Sign		Is now a block instead of an entity. Can now display custom text. Now craftable: Ingredients Crafting recipe Oak Planks + Stick
Water and Lava		Liquids now flow as they do currently. Water and lava now form stone, cobblestone or obsidian upon contact. Springs of water or lava can now randomly generate on stone surfaces.
Sand and Gravel		Sand and Gravel now fall if there is no block underneath.

Bucket		Ingredients Crafting recipe Iron Ingot Found in dungeon chests.	Can be used to pick up liquids.
Water Bucket		Using a bucket on a water source block empties the block and fills the bucket.	Can be used to place water source blocks.
Lava Bucket		Using a bucket on a lava source block empties the block and fills the bucket.	Can be used to place lava source blocks.
Saddle		Found in dungeon chests.	Can be used to ride pigs.

Dungeon		Underground	1-2	Zombies, skeletons or spiders are created from the spawner.	An underground chamber made of cobblestone and moss stone, containing chests and a monster spawner.
Ore blob		Underground	No	No	A blob of ore that generates within stone.

Biomes

Gameplay

New

Name	Description
Infinite Worlds	Worlds are now functionally infinite in size, instead of limited to a few hundred blocks across at most. Worlds are now loaded incrementally using chunks, instead of loading in all at once. An entirely new terrain generator has been added, creating more expansive mountains, lakes and caves than before. Caves now contain lava lakes and dirt and gravel patches.
