Changes[]

Gameplay[]

  • Made the day/night cycle 20 minutes long, with day and night lasting 10 minutes each.
  • Stars now appear in the night sky.

Other[]

Blocks
  • Blocks that can be replaced (Fire, Water, Lava), no longer get used up when placed in a space with the same Block ID.
  • Torches require support.
  • Unsupported non solid blocks will now drop themselves.
  • Sand and gravel fall immediately when placed once again.
  • Glass no longer drops itself.
  • Torches no longer automatically rotate based off block around them.
    • The player can now choose which direction torches will face.
    • Because of this torches placed in existing worlds always face straight up.[1][verify]
General
  • Removed rain.
  • Items drop in a straight line with little variation.
  • Changed texture of splash particles.
  • Added an "L" (lighting updates) value to the Debug screen.
  • Player model was removed from the inventory.
  • Caves darkened.
  • Pressing ESC now pauses the burning animation.

  1. "Yes. My torches don't attach to the wall. Its because you can now choose where to place it. E.g. if there are two walls in contact aim and one wall to place it. Remove and aim at other and it goes on there. But my water level is still the same." by Zaldos – Minecraft Forum, February 12, 2010.
