This article documents an April Fools' joke.
There is no actual Java Edition 20w14∞ version of Minecraft in development.

20w14∞[1] is an April Fools' joke released on April 1, 2020.

Additions

Box of Infinite Books
  • When used, a random written book is generated. This book can be thrown into the nether portal.
    • The random books are tied to the block.
    • The author of every book is “Universe itself” and the pages contain random text.
Generated Dimensions
  • If any written book — whether obtained from the Box of Infinite Books or written by a player — is thrown into a nether portal, the portal will change color. Entering the portal will generate a new dimension with random blocks and random colors.
    • The generated dimensions will also have randomized mobs appear such as giants and withers.
    • The generated dimensions have nether-style generation, with a bedrock ceiling at Y level 128 and the cave generation seen in the Nether.
    • There are exactly 2,147,483,647 possible dimensions.
  • Entering an unchanged nether portal from any of the generated dimensions sends the player back to the Overworld.
    • Returning to the Overworld generates a new portal in the Overworld.
    • The newly generated portal in the Overworld is not connected with the one from the generated dimension; going through it simply sends the player to the Nether.
Biomes

“Between”, “Biome For Player With No Time For Nonsense” and “Shapes” are added.

  • In end cities in the new dimensions, a book titled “Orders” will be in the chests. It will contain one of below example texts:
    • reinforce obfuscated
    • capture obfuscated
    • find obfuscated
    • obliterate obfuscated coctails[2]
    • deliver obfuscated Lost Floppies
    • build obfuscated
Advancements
  • "You're Almost There", achieved after visiting one billion of the dimensions.
Cursor Block
  • The cursor block is a block with an animated texture that changes its color every second, toggling between green and black.
    • The cursor block makes a stone sound when the block is placed or broken.
    • The block has no known use in the game and there is no crafting recipe for it.

Changes

  • The Mojang splash screen has been changed.
  • Blocks in the creative inventory have been shuffled.
  • Worlds from releases and other snapshots are not visible, but can be accessed by launching the game in said releases and snapshots.
