Invisible bedrock is an indestructible, solid block, similar to bedrock and has the appearance of air. Although it is invisible, it technically uses the stone texture, as seen in its inventory icon. It shares many of its properties with barriers.
Obtaining
Invisible bedrock is unobtainable in inventory, even through commands, and cannot be destroyed without using the /setblock command. It can only be obtained through add-ons or inventory editing.
Natural generation
Invisible bedrock comprised the border surrounding old worlds in Bedrock Edition. It did not generate above or below the height limit, allowing the player to travel beyond it by flying over or under it, or by pillaring up and walking over it. This could not be done in the Nether in Survival Mode, because of the bedrock ceiling.
Usage
The purpose of invisible bedrock is to prevent the player from getting past the border of the world. It cannot be selected; attempting to do so targets the block behind it.
Appearance
Invisible bedrock is transparent only in rendering, interacting with players and mobs as a solid block and blocking light. The player cannot interact with them, attempting to break an invisible bedrock block instead breaks the block behind it. The only way to destroy Invisible Bedrock is by using /setblock or /fill. Adjacent blocks are not rendered when viewed through invisible bedrock.
The texture used for invisible bedrock is that of stone. If the player lands onto invisible bedrock, particles from the stone texture can be seen. In the inventory, the block is represented by a stone texture that fills out the inventory slot completely rather than being rendered as a cube like a normal block. In Pi Edition, it used the grass texture instead, as the game is based on an old version of Pocket Edition Alpha before the texture was changed to stone.
