Invisible bedrock is an indestructible, solid block, similar to bedrock and has an appearance like the air. Although it is invisible, it technically uses the stone texture. It is exclusive to Bedrock Edition, New Nintendo 3DS Edition, and Pi Edition.
It shares many of its properties with barriers.
Obtaining
Invisible bedrock is unobtainable without the use of external tools.
Natural generation
Invisible bedrock comprises the border surrounding Old worlds in Bedrock Edition, and all worlds in New Nintendo 3DS Edition and Pi Edition. It does not generate above or below the height limit, allowing the player to travel beyond it by flying over or under it, or by pillaring up and walking over it. This cannot be done in the Nether in Survival Mode, because of the bedrock ceiling.
Usage
The purpose of invisible bedrock is to prevent the player from getting past the border of the world. It cannot be selected or broken with any tool.
Appearance
Invisible bedrock is only transparent in rendering, interacting with players and mobs as a solid block and blocking light. The player can not interact with them, breaking the block will break the block behind them as the result. Adjacent blocks are not rendered when viewed through invisible bedrock.
The texture used for invisible bedrock is that of stone. If the player lands onto invisible bedrock, particles from the stone texture can be seen. In the inventory, the block is represented by a stone texture that fills out the inventory slot completely rather than being rendered as a cube like a normal block. In Pi Edition, it uses the grass texture instead, as the game is based on an old version of Pocket Edition Alpha before the texture was changed to stone.
