Gold Blocks, Gold Ingots, Gold Nuggets, and Gold Ore, with Glowstone for illumination.
Gold is a rare mineral that is used in crafting clocks and powered minecart rails found either underground or (in the first beta 1.9 pre release) by killing Zombie Pigmen. It can also be used in crafting tools, weapons, and armour, but is not often used for this purpose due to the combination of its low durability and high rarity (gold tools are faster than even diamond tools, however). It is technically a renewable resource because gold nuggets are dropped by a mob, Zombie Pigmen. Gold can be used to craft tools. You can make shovels, pickaxes, axes, swords, hoes, and armour. Gold is the fastest to break blocks, but it is also the most fragile.
Gold occurs in Minecraft in several forms; see these pages for details:
- Gold Ore - Gold ore found deep underground.
- Gold Ingot - Gold ingots that can be used for crafting.
- Gold (Block) - Solid gold blocks that can be used for storage and decoration.
- Gold Nugget (Beta 1.9 Pre-release 1+) - Yielded from Zombie Pigmen, can be combined into Ingots or crafted with a melon slice to obtain potion brewing ingredients.
