Glowstone Dust is obtained by mining glowstone blocks (only found in the Nether). Glowstone dust no longer requires a pickaxe to obtain.
Uses
When mined properly, each glowstone block yields 2 to 4 glowstone dust that can be reconstituted into a block. A glowstone block, like a jack-o-lantern, is a portable light source brighter than a torch. Glowstone dust can also be used to increase potion effects and it is required to craft the Redstone Lamp. Unlike Redstone dust, Glowstone dust cannot be placed.
Glowstone dust can be used in potions to increase the strength of its effect; however, it will reduce a potion's effect time.
