This article is about publicly-released development versions for the PC. For the official versions' history, see Version history.
Starting in the period between Beta 1.7.3 and Beta 1.8, Mojang publicly releases testing versions of the full update in order to get major feedback, especially for bug reporting, so that the official update is considerably more stable. While these versions were public, they were not auto-installed by the game and are completely optional.
Most of these updates follow the name-suit of "Pre-release" not only by reference but on the version tags as well.
Placing fluids (water or lava) with a bucket treats other fluid source blocks like solid blocks, allowing you to place them next to each other without an adjacent wall.
Green bubbles appear when poisoned.
You can reload the texture pack by pressing F3+T[1]

Baby Sheep
Baby Wolf
Enchanted Items appear to be glowing with power.

During Snowfall, snow layer can be generated in odd places, including on water,[6] ice, lava,[7] and signs.[8] Snowfall can also overwrite non-solid blocks, such as torches and redstone.
In SMP, shearing a Mooshroom generates a second client-side Cow.
Snowfall doesn't generate new snow in some cases.
